"If you build it, they will come"

    Places this worked:

    1. Indianapolis (Hoosier/RCA Dome)

    2. Orlando (Orlando/Amway Arena)

    3. St. Petersburg (Suncoast Dome/Tropicana Field)

    4. St. Louis (TransWorld/ Edward Jones Dome)

    5. Memphis (kinda/sorta, with The Pyramid as a temporary home, but  they had to agree to build the FedEx Forum to actually get a team).

    6. New Orleans (New Orleans Arena/Smoothie King Center)

    7. Oklahoma City (Ford Center/Chesapeake Energy Arena)

    Places this didn't work:

    1. San Antonio (Alamodome - never got an NFL franchise)

    2.  Kansas City (Sprint/T-Mobile Center - hasn't got an NBA or NHL franchise yet)

Probably have to add Quebec City’s new arena to the list as well.

I wouldn't be concerned about the Raiders in Las Vegas at all.  Ever been on The Strip on a football Sunday?  Nearly everyone walking around is wearing some sort of NFL gear.  The NFL is more conducive to tourism than any of the other major sports and fanbases tend to travel well.  Eight to nine home games a year means that the games are more of an event or tourist attraction, and the nature of Las Vegas being what it is this is the only time it can honestly be said that a team can thrive without huge local support.  Further, the large group of Raider fans still living in the Los Angeles area, and traveled well to Oakland will probably travel to Las Vegas in a similar or greater fashion.  All of this is before we even start talking about locals.  The flashy new stadium walking distance from The Strip also doesn't hurt.

I’m going out in September and was trying to get tickets for the Ravens MNF game.  Cheapest single ticket is $900.  Demand seems to be okay.

I think if only one or two teams did it (BVB and Man City) it would be OK. But the fact that all of the club Puma teams are doing it is what the problem is. I don't mind it in a vacuum of a couple of teams taking it on. But Puma's entire roster??

City supporter here.  It’s absolutely not okay.

"The only good news in this context is that the ownership of the 31, soon to be 32, NHL franchises has never been stronger and healthier," Bettman said. He said that includes the Arizona Coyotes, as recent reports had them missing bonus payments to players and their arena Insert other media management company, something Bettman chalked up to a new ownership group's learning curve on operating a franchise.

Paying your bills on time is part of a learning curve?  Is this freshman orientation?

     Ok, Dr. Phil.

Nah for real tho, you have big time issues if you automatically assume people who like going to a city you don’t like and/or have hobbies you don’t like are subhuman trash...the level of self-importance required to believe that garbage is staggering, and you should be ashamed of how you treat people...you are not the sole arbiter of what people can and cannot do.  Quit acting like a child.

1). Only when dealing with you, my friend 😘

2). I'm, literally, from Nevada. I say this from a lifetime of dealing with the fallout that city has created 😂

3). I'm more of a Dominion guy, myself.

4). You do realize this is, like, 75% in jest, right?

You spit this propaganda every time Vegas gets mentioned.  I think you like to think you’re joking so as to rationalize the behavior.

    1). It isn't a cool city.

2). It is an objective fact.

3). Those are both beside the point anyway because that's not even the issue. The SF Bay Area is just objectively a better area for, well, just about everything.

4). Vegas is running out of natural resources, such as clean drinking water, and growing at alarmingly unsustainable levels. Within 50 years, Vegas will basically be the setting for Mad Max: Fury Road. Raiders will still probably be there, though.

Your life seems like a dark void where fun goes to die.  Sorry you lost a bunch of money your first time in Vegas playing blackjack like a tourist and have decided to use that as an excuse to harbor grudges against not only an entire city, but people who enjoy said city.  Maybe stick to Settlers of Catan.

Well one thing is for sure. I’d be more willing to accept an A’s move to Portland than I would :censored:ing Vegas again.

Leaving the Bay Area for goddamn Vegas just in general is nuts. It’s such a massive downgrade in so many ways. Portland is at least a cool city.

Just because you personally believe it’s not a cool city doesn’t make it objective fact.

Massive waste of resources? An entire economy based around paying people very little to accommodate the ultra wealthy? Poorly planned transportation system? Fattening foods and chains as far as you can see?

Not sure about your "until" there.

I know that there are municipalities that like the idea of baseball, but I can't imagine any North American city (even Montreal?) paying for a new baseball stadium. In 2018 I feel like we're all smarter than building single-use stadiums for a sport that has evolved into four teams competing against the rest aggressively not.

    You forgot legal weed tho

I just don't get why members hate those jerseys so much. The problem with it is the pants that were assigned to the uniform. If the pants were like the jersey, this would be a great look.

Well, maybe people hate it because it's a basketball uniform with [expletive deleted] sleeves on it.
