  1. The Big East becomes a basketball only conference again after all the football playing members disperse to different conferences. The Big East expands from 7 to 10 schools with the additions of Dayton, St. Louis and Xavier from the Atlantic-10.

    Perfect (Catholic) symmetry

5 Eastern schools: Georgetown, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall, Villanova

5 Midwest schools: Dayton, DePaul, Marquette, St. Louis, Xavier

Butler and St. Joes should be in any basketball only conference.

  3. Who does ND leach on to if the ACC implodes?

I know Maryland takes away from the brand and strength of the ACC, but I don't think they are a terrible loss for the ACC. I repeat, I don't think FSU or GT will leave becuase the ACC is still strong. (They lose Maryland and get Notre Dame?!) The last time Maryland won an ACC football championship was 2001, Notre Dame is probably the most popular team in America and they are ranked #1.

Just wait till 4 or 5 of these teams jump ship. Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Duke, North Carolina State, and Florida State.

Big 10 is obviously going to 16 teams. Virginia fits the new Big 10. An AAU Mid-Atlantic state.

  4. IMHO a player can have more than one "right" uniform. For me Magic, Lakers and to some extent Heat (because of the ring) are fine for Shaq. Cleveland, Phoenix and Boston are the wrong ones.

When it comes to David Beckham people tend to forget that as a United player he was considered as one of the best right midfielders in the world. Afterwards there was more hype than quality football in his career.

about the only thing i'm familiar with concerning beckham is the all the hype and media spots with in gossip magazines with his spice girl wife. The first time i heard of him was back on the cyber-nhl boards when he was going to i think Madrid? and everyone was flipping out about it. i want to say that was the start of his hype.

Only if you're not old enough to remember his years with Man U.

  5. Either Real Madrid or the Galaxy (only because of the hype)

It's been almost 10 years since he played for Man U

and it's been almost 80 years since Babe Ruth played for the Yankees.

He played 3 years on Man United's youth team, and than 10 years on the main club. Those were the best years of his career. Maybe you're too young to remember the hype when he was playing for Man U. He was the most popular player in the world playing for the most popular team in the World.

  6. I compare it to Johnny Damon when it comes to KC, BOS, and NY. Could make an argument for all 3.

Don't forget Damon's time in Detroit and Oakland too.

well you can't make an argument for those clubs, or the Rays. So that's why I didn't include them.

    Classic Yankee's fan ^^.

you're not even making sense, but be my guest. go ahead and make a case why Johnny Damon looks "right" in a A's, Tigers, or Rays uniform compared to the Royals where he began his career and spent the most time with, and with the Red Sox and Yankees where he won championships.

  7. To me, Ray Ray looks strangest as a Buck.

i guess it depends on how old you were when he played for the Bucks. He made his name with that team with teammates Sam Cassell and Glenn Robinson. Looks right to me. Personally I don't think he looks strange in any of the 3. He spent a good chunk of his career and made an impact in all 3 cities.

I compare it to Johnny Damon when it comes to KC, BOS, and NY. Could make an argument for all 3.

  8. So what's the excuse for people not watching the Rays on television, either?

People go to Florida to watch TV?

I've been to Florida numerous times, and maybe have watched TV for a grand total of 30 minutes.

What? This has nothing to do with people visiting Florida on vacation or business.

My point is that, resident or tourist, there's so much to do in Florida besides watch TV.

Because there is nothing to do in New York.

  9. http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2011/10/florida-miscellaneous.html

-Florida's favorite major league baseball team is a tie between the Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays at 17% each. The Atlanta Braves, at 14%, and New York Yankees, at 10%, both hit double digit support in the state as well. The Cubs at 7%, Red Sox at 6%, Phillies at 3%, and Mets at 2% round out the field. The fact that 42% of voters in the state pick an out of state MLB team as their favorite to only 34% for the Rays and Marlins is just another data point for the failure of the home state teams to really capture residents' hearts. Maybe that will change with the opening of the new Marlins ballpark and if the Rays ever get one.

-Florida's in state NFL teams fare a little better. 21% say the Dolphins are their favorite to 15% for the Buccaneers, 14% for the Jaguars, 8% for the Cowboys, 7% for the Patriots, 4% each for the Giants and Jets, and 3% for the Falcons.
