  1. Bumping this because it looks like the Knicks got some new banners. Because of the bridges, some banners had to be re-sized (per the Post: http://nypost.com/2013/10/25/new-garden-new-policy-knicks-hang-division-banners/). The 1950s era Knicks banners now feature that olde-tymey basketball guy instead of the same logo that appears on the 1970-71 banner (old banners visible here http://www.flickr.com/photos/20456447@N03/8713214373/in/photolist-egXv52-7ZmDV7-eeVxhM-8UjxZh-dAWFk9-bu5FbB-95SaFy-9YbLLx-eBXvfx-8k6ctG-8k2XWi-8k6at7-abvnBp-abv7ii-ds2gzi-abxXn9-dUCsYQ-f1BQbL).

  2. Looks like the lease agreement has been posted.

EDIT: a reporter's take on the agreement

    http://www.azcentral.com/insiders/brahm1700/2013/06/27/heres-the-deal-glendale/

So less than a week from the assumed deadline for a deal between Glendale and RSE, the sides appear to be far apart, RSE clearly does not believe Glendale is bargaining in good faith, and Glendale has so far balked at putting the deal on the council agenda.
  3. So what's the deadline they need to meet in Glendale to be able to publicly vote on July 2? As I understand it they have to make the details of the deal public a certain number of days in advance of that meeting by law or they can't vote on it.

I'm not sure what the legal requirements are, but according to everything I've read they've been hoping to release details of a deal early this week:

    http://www.azcentral...likely-end.html

City officials hope to release details of that draft deal with the hockey team’s prospective owners early next week, then vote on a proposal by July 2, said Glendale spokeswoman Julie Watters.

(This was written on Friday so next week is this week.)

    http://www.usatoday....p-deal/2448093/

If things go as planned, city officials would post details of the contract on the city's website as early as Monday and the council would schedule a public council vote for July 2, she said.

(Monday is today! But when have things gone as planned in Glendale?)

  4. Just to update the calendar, it appears the deadline is now July 2.

But time is getting short. The NHL has agreed to wait until a July 2nd meeting for a proposed deal to go to vote, but not a minute longer. That would make next Tuesday’s meeting informational by nature, and allow the city time to make the proposal public, to satisfy the need for transparency. That also means the nuts-and-bolts negotiating must be done by the end of an electronic session scheduled for Friday, according to the source. If there is no clarity or progress, it could set the Coyotes in motion, and on the road to Seattle.
  5. I know the NHL wants to keep realignment in tact, but I would view Key Arena as a last resort move. I guess it would depend on the number of season there and how much revenue loss would accrue in the time from the first game to the team moving to their new arena. I also wonder if there's a Plan C and what that might be/entail.

Any word on when we will know who's staying/going? I know some vote was to take place next week, but Bettman wanted it sooner, but that's the last I've heard of it.

I think the key dates are the Glendale City Council meeting on June 25 and the NHL Board of Governors meeting on June 27. I haven't heard about any earlier votes on the lease.

  6. Good news. Seattle says they have an ice-o-matic. Though they don't have many seats if this is correct.

The team would have to play at Key Arena, which would only seat roughly 11,000 for hockey. Daly has indicated in the past that it would be a suitable short term home for a franchise.

Deborah Daoust, a spokesperson for Seattle Center and Key Arena, said Tuesday night that the ice making equipment and chilling system are still operational and have been used in the past for events like the Ice Capades and Disney on Ice.

  8. as an islander fan nd long island resident, everytime i enter the coliseum i always admmire the islanders banners and just look up at the greatness that once was. Im wondering how barclays center is going to handle the islanders banners, i hope all of them make the move because that would be an additional slap in the face next to losing our team to the city. also, the dragons banners were removed after the AFL folded.

Hopefully they make some new ones--but in the same or a similar style--because the banners look pretty beat up when you see them in person. But...

    NYIslandersVerified@NYIslanders

YES. ALL OF THEM. RT @bringback_nyles:@NYIslanders Will *all* the banners be coming along? #Isles #BarclaysCenter
