  1. I wouldn't go as far as to say their nicknacks, but their definitely no longer for everyday wear considering how big they are. I always found that funny how the players want these huge rings...but then complain that their bulky and uncomfortable to wear. i had a chance to talk to Charles Woodson once and he wasn't wearing is ring so I asked why. he said because it's so big and heavy (remember it's made of Platinum) it would create a calis on the inside of his other fingers so he just wore it on special events.
  2. Jerry Krammer left his super bowl I ring in the bathroom on an airplane. He took it off to wash his hands. He recovered the ring many years later when the ring was in an auction. The consigner was a lawyer and was not willing to cooperate so finally, the auction house settled the matter. Jerry got his original ring back and auctioned off the replacement ring and the money went to charity. I believe another super bowl ring was returned to the original owner after he too, took the ring off to wash his hands at a public bathroom. I can't recall who that was. yeah I know about Jerry Kramer's..he found it after it came up for auction years later.
  3. I was disappointed with Lelands..a lot of baseball this auction.
  4. Ah you beat me to it! Yeah that ravens rings is going to go for big money. I'm curious what else their gonna have.
  5. I can kinda understand but yet the original is just that. I understand the whole changed hands and whatnot but I'd still prefer the original. Wish I had the cash to get my hands on it.
  6. Well that is a letter of appraisal and a COA. Psa\dna letter...valued at $8500?
  7. Herff Jones does class rings for a lot of colleges (including most of Arizona State's class rings) as well. Nothing that they've done has shown me anything at all. I'm hoping when I do graduate I can get something through Jostens instead. As much as I love sports team championship rings, I could never see myself dropping that kinda cash on someone else's jewelry. It'd be a gem to own (and I'm certainly not knocking collecting them. Maybe when I'm making a lot of money, I'd do the same!), but it'd be so much nicer to actually earn one. Hell, now that I think about it, that's probably bucket list item #1 for me. I'd rather drop 50k on a super bowl ring I can wear than babe Ruth's jersey that sold for 4.4 million.
  8. Don't forget diamond cutters. Their dallas ring was top notch
  9. Oh I know that auction. There was a few of his things I bid on. Didn't get any of them.
  10. how about that super bowl 1 ring that a players? Yes it is! First time ever I negotiated a purchase before the ring was given to the player! I still went through a lot of ups and downs before finally acquiring it. Thanks for calling me a walking encyclopedia. The real encyclopedia title belongs to Scott Welkowsky in California. Every time I have a question, he has an answer.
  11. There's a lot to look for. If you really want to get into collecting your best bet is to have a good conversation with someone who's been collecting for years. I've been collecting for about 6 years but I'm still learning stuff all the time.
  12. to your point though look at the pistons ring above it only has one trophy yet they to have 3 championships. In the end it's up to the team not players.
  13. The Detroit Pistons have also done it with just one trophy
  14. yup the packers ring was the first and still the only to use platinum. I had a chance to talk to Charles Woodson once about it and he said it's so big that it gives him Calais' on the inside of his middle and pinky fingers.
  15. Forgot about the packers which weighs in at 116 grams
  16. Well it could be that most the team was there for the repeat. There's only 2 players who were there for all three championships. I remember reading an article about the 2005 steelers ring where the team only wanted to have one trophy on top the ring but Jerome Betis insisted that all trophies be on top.
  17. Heat ring comes out tonight. Hoping it's got more diamonds than last years.
  18. I think teams and the nfl are trying to crack down on people getting extra rings and then having those ring "dissappear"
