  1. Not true on either point in certain cases. While football controls the discussion in college athletics, men's basketball and academics both are a decent part of it for certain conferences (ACC for both, Big Ten for academics only, etc). Academics, pfft. You know, as much crap as SEC fans rightfully get for that S-E-C-S-E-C "I hope our rivals win because somehow it makes us better" chanting, the Big Ten is the most masturbatory conference in college sports. At least all that South-will-rise-again stuff terminates at the end of football season; Big Ten circle-jerking permeates every aspect of everything. F*** football, when's the next womens game in that sport? Arizona gymnastics meets begin on January 6th...... Will Monica Bisordi be making an appearance? Yeah, she'll be coming. AAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dear God I couldn't stop laughing at that!

How dare you make a mockery of it. They have the best academics, the top basketball teams, and REAL football is play there. Why do you think the Big Ten is the only conference that's stay quiet through all this realignment talk this go around? It's because NONE of the teams available are to the caliber of the Big Ten. They don't have the tradition or the grit Big Ten teams have. NO, the real football is played in the Pac-12. Defense? Pfffft. We only need offense to win games! Didn't go to the national championship? East coast media bias, the same bias that caused Oregon to lose both those games. We all know ESPN was actually the one controlling Vince Young when he scored. The people over there just aren't, like, chill man.

  4. And yet they are still better at basketball than ECU. If ECU get's accepted, then we'll all know exactly how desperate the BIg East is. Your personal opinion of how good one is over the other carries little weight in this discussion. Bring up some other reasons. Besides, as mentioned, ECU applied, not invited. If UCF wants in then apply. Personal opinion? East Carolina: 2005-2011 8-20, 6-24, 11-19, 13-17, 10-21, 18-16 It is not my opinion that they suck, it's a FACT that they suck.

  6. The Big East could do far worse than East Carolina. They are all-in-all a pretty solid program that has done passably well in the past and has picked off in the last few years NC State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and North Carolina. Honestly the Big East is going to have to reach to the minors to bolster its numbers and ECU's one of the best available that reasonably fits in the Conference footprint. East Carolina is moderately competitive in football, but they're pretty bad in most other sports. Why not go after schools like UCF, or Southern Miss. You know, schools that are actually competitive in sports that are more than football?
  7. East Carolina apparently thinks it's important rams, now's the time to do the archemedes laugh
  8. ACC should swap Duke with them. A little taste of your own medicine. Richmond would be better than Duke? The same school that has an 8,000 seat stadium would bring in more money than one of the richest universities in the country, not to mention the biggest tv draws (in terms of basketball) in the country. They should be ousted for an FCS school? Yeah, good luck with that. That Joke. Your Head. Well, I've always sucked at detecting sarcasm. I guess I was just over anxious. Sorry about that.
  9. The Big East? TLN isn't part of basic cable, is it? If not, it'll probably end up like The Mtn. - unwatched and irrelevant, and more trouble than it's worth. Hopefully, for the sake of college athletics as a whole, Texas cuts its losses sooner rather than later. Unintentional puns, HURRAH! In all seriousness, I would like to see OU, Ok St, TT, and Houston to join. That would not only make the conference much more competitive, but it would also expand the market a bit. The only other option other than Houston would be Nevada or UNLV, and we've discussed that to death. You can 'sports bully' your little HS friends but when here please, please try harder. Houston is not ready to do anything major. Commuter population + no facilities. You might as well add SDSU or SJSU. Vegas loves and bets SC. Cal and Stanford would never allow that to happen. They are trying to stay far away from the Cal State system. Yet they would allow the University of Houston system? Child please! It's more of an instate battle. The UC schools hate the Cal State schools, especially Cal and Stanford. This is why SDSU has not been targeted by the Pac-12.

  11. Does K-State have the academics to go to the Big 10? http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/kansas-state-university-1928 Kind of. If Kansas goes, i think they become a package deal, academics or not.
  12. Y'alls knew this was coming. /Nevada's broke and Houston has reputation issues. So once again, UNLV, right? I mean, if Texas and Oklahoma split, and Kansas and K-State go to the B1G, which they almost certainly will, who will be the 16th Pac-16 team? Or will they just make it a Pac-15, like the MAC having 13 teams?

Any combination of those teams would get Colorado steamed for bringing in schools that would divide the conference into east and west (even if it is in four-school segments - it would still be NE/NW/SE/SW). So Colorado gets mad. What are they going to do about it, join the big east?

  15. Wow, it seems like nobody wants Texas, which is shocking. They'll almost certainly go indy now, unless the Big XII somehow survives.
  16. True, but what about ratings? Sure, plenty of servicemen will be watching every week, but how do you convince a general nationwide audience to watch Air Force, as opposed to non-AQ's that have actually won high-profile games and BCS bowls but still might get left out in the cold? Nobody watches Boise games because they just assume they're going to blow everybody out. And usually, they're right. Even if they were in a BCS conference, the novelty would wear out after the first year. And i saw you change your post, and we still know who you're talking about
  17. I think the bigger news is, the Big East was targeting AIR FORCE? I thought TCU was a sketch but JESUS, that's almost Pac-12 territory! Might as well change their name just The Big, if you're going to go that far west. How the hell is Air Force getting serious consideration for AQ status? Their market is smaller than Boise State's, considering that Colorado is Buffs country. They've also done jack compared to Boise State, TCU, or even Nevada lately. They're usually a tough team to beat but they also don't really have any signature wins. Air Force has national appeal. But yes, I agree with you. While it would nice to get that national follwing, not only would it come at the cost of better candidates, but Air Force might also decline, considering they're very happy were they are.

  19. I still have no idea what Rutgers provides the ACC other than a warm body in the 16th slot. If WVU (ranked 164th in the country) isn't good enough for the ACC, how is Rutgers (ranked 143rd in the country) any better, especially with lousy football and men's basketball programs? If Notre Dame is interested, they would seem to be the best option for the ACC at this point. I would even consider going to 15 schools by taking UConn and leaving the 16th slot open until something better comes along over taking Rutgers. I would take Rutgers over UConn for a 16th team. I would say Rutgers and UConn are about similar programs football wise. Rutgers has more upside and less down size than UConn in my opinion. If Rutgers can build into a consistent good program then you have a good program in a populated state. If they are what they currently are (or even what they have been in the past) well you still have a presence (i.e. the other ACC teams going into NJ) in a populated state that is good to have for recruiting. Connecticut isn't as populated, thus if they are bad the is no benefit to even having them. New Jersey is a Jets state, not a Rutgers state. Plus, Uconn surpasses Rutgers athletically in every way. It would make no sense to take Rutgers over Uconn.
