  1. I was going to post a photo of my 1988 49ers Ring next to my 1988 Bengals Ring a while back when the rings were being discussed. This is the only time in the super bowl era where the loosers ring (Conference Ring) was made larger than the Winners ring. Strangely both rings were made by Jostens too. So kind of makes you wonder how this could have happened. Its one thing for another company to make one ring and another make the other ring and not knowing how big the rings are but Jostens knew exactly how big both rings were. I wonder if the 49ers were happy when they found out the Bengals rings were made larger. 7009_739908852710148_2024835603_n.jpg

  2. Here is the New Ring that was came out to represent the 9th straight Big XII Championship for the Kansas Jayhawks for basketball. It appears to be the same popular Jostens design and size made popular by the 2004 Boston Red Sox World Series Ring and the 2008 Florida SEC Championship Football Rings all made by Jostens. I wonder if KU will make it 10 Straight Big XII Titles and if so imagine what that ring would look like.

  3. What most fans of this forum do not realize is the 1988 Bengals AFC Rings were actually LARGER than the 1988 49ers Super Bowl Rings. Both rings were made by Jostens. Its the only time in the history of the Super Bowl Rings that the so called loosers ring was made larger than the winners rings. I have both rings and its hard to believe.

  4. This is NOT the first Goof Up when it comes to Championship Rings. I personally think someone purposely did that to the new 2012 FSU ACC Ring as it was only done on one ring. I have seen ring companies put the top or bezel of a ring on upside down or the more comon error is an emblem or logo put on upside down or sideways but to have one of the sides of a ring being different from the other players rings this i would say was done on purpose.

One of the biggest all time mess ups was on the 1974 Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Rings.

You can read how they messed up it below but keep in mind ALL of the rings were this way as it should as all of the rings are made in the same way so it was not unusal that all of the rings are this way. What amazes me is this make wasnt noticed for over 30 years after the rings were handed out.

  5. Here is the NEW Louisville 2013 NCAA Basketball National Championship Ring. Keep in mind this is only the "NCAA" ring that the team gets. ALL Four Teams gets a similar ring from the NCAA. The rings are all the same every year from the NCAA. These rings are much like the BCS Rings given out by the NCAA for football. The "School" Version of the 2013 National Championship are still being made. Since the "NCAA" version is basicly the same every year those rings get done a lot faster than the "School" version because the school version has to be designed from scratch and its different each year. Thats why many of the fans and collectors want and like them better than the NCAA Ring that they get. Its basicly a bonus ring.

  6. The NBA released these Mock Ups of the Championship Rings and Banners for the Spurs and the Heat. The Heat mock up ring is nearly the same as last years ring but I do like this one better as it has more color on top of the Ring. Maybe its the NBA's way of hinting that the ring should have had come color on top instead of the boring old black onyx stone as the 2006 and 2012 had on them.

  7. Championship sports rings: Thank you for information on the heaviest rings and posting pics of Alabama rings...just Amazing. I am surprised they gave out 3 rings this year since last year they only gave out 2....good for them.

Alabama only got 2 rings in 2011 because they were not the SEC Champs. They lost the SEC Title Game to LSU. Thus LSU got the 2011 SEC Champs Rings. Alabama got a School National Champs ring and a Seperate "NCAA given" BCS Championship Ring. It was one of those Rare cases when a Team wasnt good enough to win their conference but was good enough or fortunate to play and win the National Champiosnhip. If Oregon and Kansas State had not lost during the last month of the season Alabama would not have gotten to play and beat ND in the title game. So a lot of luck is involved sometimes to win it all especially if you loose a game and have to rely on others to loose to back your way into the title game.

Now there have been one team who has played for the National Championship and who could have won it all and was not good enough to have even won the division of their conference. Case in point in 2001 Nebraska team did not play in the 2001 Big XII title game they tied with Colorado and CU had the tie breaker over CU. CU won the Big XII Title game by beating Texas. Nebraska went on to play Miami in the National Title game and got beat pretty bad. In 2003 OU Lost to Kansas State in the BIg XII Title game and still played LSU for the BCS Title and lost. Now some people think if a team wasnt good enough to win their conference that they should not be allowed to play in the National Title game. After next you we wont have to worry about that with the New College Football Playoff system.

  8. Anyone has any idea what is the heaviest championship ring every made? Let's say an average man ring size is 11. Comparing all the championship rings of the same size 11, I think the Marlins 2003 or Heat's 2012 ring might be the heaviest. I saw a Marlins ring in an auction, size 11.5 for about 114 grams. When Heat's rings came out Jostens said the rings were 115 grams but would not give the ring size. I think sizes between 9-14 vary by approximately 1-1.5 gram per increased each ring size.

Even Patriots 2003 or Steelers 2008 which I think are the largest super bowl rings ever made weighed just about 100 grams for really large sizes of 13-14. I can't believe Marlins ring, with the now defunct logo is the largest ever, even bigger than super bowl rings!

Ravens rings are coming out next week, I think their previous rings made by Jostens weighed around 66-67 grams for a size 11.

The 2003 Marlins World Series Rings made by Intergold weighed in close to the 115 grams of 14K Gold that Jostens made for the 2006 Heat title. The rings are very close to the same size as both are MONSTEROUS in SIZE. Most people couldnt wear them and i understand most do not wear those 2 rings. Intergold was bought out by Jostens so they now work together and I do find it a shame that a Basketball ring (Heat 2006) and a Baseball ring (Marlins 2003) are way bigger than any Super Bowl Ring. I doubt if the new Ravens Ring will come close to it. Even the Last few Stanley Cup Rings mostly made by Jostens/Intergold were bigger than most super bowl ring. The only real chance i see that a Super Bowl team would make a super big ring would be if the Pats would have won the 2007 Perfect Season Ring and that never happend. And they lost again to the Giants so we will have to wait for a 4th Super Bowl winning ring from the Pats but when and if they do watch out it should be HUGE as every Pats Super Bowl Winning ring since the first has been larger than the prevous one. Maybe they will finally win it this year!!! If not I hope the team who wins makes a HUGE Guady Ring!!!!

Many of you on this forum probably have never seen what the NCAA Div 1 Football National Championship Rings have looked liked the past 25 years. Here is a photo that I created from my some of the rings in my Private Championship Ring Collection. Which one is the best looking from the past 25 years?? which one is the worst???

So what happens to that 2004 USC ring (from the team that won the 2005 Orange Bowl vs. Oklahoma and got their NC stripped)? Is it a rare ring whose value shot up because of the title stripping, or is it only worth its scrap value?

The 2004 USC Team only had the BCS Title Stripped from them. They did get a separate 2004 BCS White Gold Ring that would represent winning the BCS Championship. I have had a few of them over the years and are popular with a small amount of collectors. With that said you could consider that ring to be special as no one ever had to give up their 2004 BCS Rings and the rings are now a memento of a stripped Championship and one could argue it could be worth more but I don’t see it being worth more than it was a few years ago. The ring you see in the photo above is from what we call the "School Ring" that the Schools design and gives out for the championship. The School Ring is by fare more in demand than the BCS Rings which all look nearly the same as the design is basically the same every year as its given out by the NCAA and the top of the ring's stone color is the only thing the team changes out otherwise its the same old ring that every team gets from the NCAA every year. So if the AP would have pulled the 2004 Title from USC the 2004 USC Ring I have pictured above might be considered more valuable but it all depends on who wants them or not.

As a side note in 2004 Auburn and Utah both finished the regular and bowl season Undefeated. Utah lead by Urban Myer couldn’t claim the title based on a weak schedule but Auburn did finish the regular season Unbeaten and don’t forget they are from the SEC. In 2004 USC and Oklahoma both finished the regular season Undefeated too. Auburn got left out of the BCS Title game. Auburn could have won the AP or a share of the National Title if they had played a better Sugar Bowl Game. They only beat Virginia Tech 16-13 it was not a convincing win. On the other hand USC Destroyed OU 55-19 in the Orange Bowl and OU scored 9 points in the 4th quarter so it was a real statement game. If the final 3 teams were in this same situation these days Auburn would prob be assured the title shot based on finishing the SEC Undefeated and they prob would have played the defending national Champs USC (they shared the title in 2003 with LSU) and OU would have been left out. After the BCS Stripped USC of the 2004 BCS Title and the Crystal Trophy they could have rewarded the trophy and the title to another school like OU, Auburn or Utah but they decided to vacate the BCS Title in 2004. Now if Auburn would have beat down VT they prob would have split the polls much like USC did in 2003. OU had no claims to the title as they were beat bad by USC no matter if Reggie Bush was playing for the team that was the main reason why they got stripped. USC prob would have won anyway. I didn’t hear Utah claiming they should be awarded the title but I did hear some at Auburn who thought since they got shafted and didn’t get to play in the title game they think they deserve the title instead of USC. But do any of you think that Auburn would have beaten USC that year?? In the end believe it or not Auburn did put out rings from that 2004 season and on them they did put "NATIONAL CHAMPIONS" on them. I am sure it didn’t make USC happy at that time but that’s how it goes. Today those 2004 Auburn Sugar Bowl "National Champs" rings of which I own one of them too does go for decent money even though its not officially a National Champs ring as they were not voted or awarded the title by the coaches or the writers.

  9. This wont make my Kansas State friends very happy but here is the New 2012 Oklahoma Sooners Big XII Championship Rings. In case you didnt know K-State ended up with the same conference record and was even #1 in the BCS for a week or so and they beat OU head to head last year but they still ended up with the same conference record and OU still can claim a part of the Big XII Championship and get rings that say it too. I hope the K-State Rings look decent when they come out.
