  1. Bonus "home" game for the Canadiens on December 30, when they face the Panthers in Sunrise. The Habs faithfull who live there are incredibly lucky to have access to tickets to see our Habs, for the price of a hot-dog and a beer. Considering attendance is getting worse, it's very likely that the cheers are going to be even louder...

Isn't this exactly why the Panthers got lumped into the same division as the Habs?

Yeah. Pretty much for marketing reasons. They know Habs and Leafs games put butts in the seats and more people watch. So even though the travel makes absolutely no sense, it's their way to make anything they can.

Huh, and here I thought it was for the natural rivalry with the Buffalo Sabres.

  2. You guys have to start identifying the hockey players.

Absolutely...been a problem throughout the thread. Hockey is not as popular as the three major sports. Soccer players...forget it.

Really? Polls and discussions in the pasts seem to reveal that it's possibly the most popular sports on the boards. In the theme of double standards though, maybe people should also post the names of football players, because I have no idea who they are either.

  3. Just curious: how does banning work? When you're banned, can you still lurk? Is your IP and/or email blocked from signing up for a new account?

On the computers that you're signed in, it just shows you a screen that says you aren't allowed to view any content and you can't sign out. (From when I was suspended.)

  4. What's the problem with 2 accs if neither of them is banned, nor have a reasonable offense to do so?

The bigger question is why have two accounts? What purpose does it serve that's not shady?

There is an exception to the dual accounts rule. The screen name changing program no longer functions, so if you REALLY want a new user name make a second account and state something to the effect of "I wanted a new name, so I made a new account, the old one will no longer be used." Outside of that? I can't see a point to having two accounts. Other then to deceive people in some way.

And don't change your email settings on the site, it'll get your account stuck in validation and you won't be able to do anything with it. But then you'd have to create a new account.

  5. Although there really wouldn't be anything to stop new members from posting on the concept section besides shipping the thread to the graveyard, but they'd still be coming in.

Also, we need to think about how not all new members are trolls or spammers; and some people might not get to the level of concept making that you would desire with this idea without the C&C from the board helping them. Isn't that what part of the concepts is about anyway?

I don't think this ideas really a good one, partly because you'd just be cutting down on the people who just want some good help on their projects or just some feedback to help them improve, not to mention the people who are actually good at this stuff without a previous account on the boards. There'd be a lot fewer good members coming into the boards over time if this becomes a thing IMHO.

  6. We dont have the infrastructure (proper sized football specific stadiums) to host a World Cup. We can host the 2015 Womens World Cup because of the size of the tournament. Most games are played in Toronto, Vancouver and Edmonton. A World Cup should showcase the entire country not just pockets. I would love to see it here but doubt it for 1

2018 or 2022. The CSA is planning on bidding for the 2026 World Cup. That annoucement was made in February. They better start building football specific stadiums with 40,000+ capacity now even to be looked at.

But think of the home-pitch advantage when we play in Tuktoyaktuk!

Who needs a 40k+ mega arena when you can have two Inuits and a seal watching Brazil-Spain? Tell FIFA that you won't have to deal with the sun and heat, they'll go for it.
  7. There's not a mechanic per say on the boards that will reject anyone under 13 from joining if they say they are in fact underage, but there's an internet rule about parent consent or something that doesn't allow people under 13 to join internet forums like this one.

So they can join the site, but they're just not allowed to, really.

  8. Did the age requirements for signing up change? Not being snarky, actually asking.

Fairly sure it's always been 13.
Not to be snarky either, but how does someone who's been here less than a year know what's always been?

Snark intended, but maybe someone more experienced with the Boards said it a little while ago...
