I was wondering that as well.  Is it just the Nike swoosh or is there a red nougaty center inside the blue horn?

There is a blue swoosh visible above the horn.

Definitely a red stripe with the horn.

That new Texans helmet seems to have a bit more of a metallic fleck in it.  Could just be that lighting, but we'll see more soon I guess.

It has a pre-Nike Seahawks helmet feel to it

  3. Even though this is just one uniform, Houston had the best chance at emphasizing red over blue in an already blue heavy division and very clearly is deciding to do the opposite.

I don’t expect the red to be used anymore than the last set.

I know edge positions are blurred, but wasn’t he technically an OLB with the Ravens?

I believe he’s technically listed as “EDGE” so that kinda falls into DE territory.

But that actually highlights the problems - it stops being an oddity when it becomes the norm.  Jim Jensen and Keyshan Johnson were oddities.  Now a good WR in the 80s is the oddity.

One thing I do find funny is how over the years as the old rule evolved, 50-99, except 80-89 became ineligible, but they just kinda left the "end" numbers as eligible, even though they were in the middle of that range.  Logically, it doesn't make sense to have some range of eligibles in the middle of the larger range of inelligibles.

We need a new rule for jersey numbers:

If a player like a kicker chooses to wear any number outside of 0-19, they have to play at least 50% of snaps at the position that number would normally line up.

”Get ready to learn interior defensive line, buddy.”

  6. I actually kinda like seeing K/P wearing 70-79. It feels like such a fun oddity.

If I could trade a number set between two position groups, it would absolutely be DEs getting access to 80-89 while WR/TEs only get 0-19

If they've going to make it like college and anyone can wear whatever numbers they want then maybe they should go full college and allow offensive and defensive guys to wear the same numbers. That's ultimately what it's going to come down to with all the single digits being taken already when a new guy joins the team

Considering college teams usually roster double the number of players as NFL teams, not likely.

The numbers will absolutely have to be amended again at some point, but double numbers won’t be a necessity.

Each position group should have access to a set of 30 numbers

    K/P 20-49

    QB 0-29

    RB 10-39

    WR 0-19, 80-89

    TE 0-19, 80-89

    OL 50-79

    DL 70-99

    LB 30-59

    DB 20-49

This feels like the Steelers grabbed Wilson too early and now they're lucky Chicago had to send Fields away. This QB room is improved, but it will be dysfunctional as hell.

I wish Washington pulled the trigger on this if all that was needed was a 6th.

    YES.

There's several I can list right off the bat, but the first one I think of, THE preeminent DL with an 80-89 jersey number, is this guy:

(His fellow HoFer linemate Carl Eller wore a number in the 80s, too...81 to be specific.)

Always thought it was cool seeing Leonard Floyd (Bears, Rams, Bills, 49ers) wearing 84 in college and hoped he could’ve continued it into the NFL

    1) they're just going to waste his prime years with some jabroni QB and incompetent offense.  It's hard to build around a WR.  They thought they were building around Cousins, but that didn't work out, so now there's not really a big need for Jefferson.  With the #1 pick, they can start over and build around a new QB (and have a couple of seasons to do so while he develops.)

    2) the "trading within the division" thing is overblown.  The Vikings aren't going to compete this year, so it's irrelevant, at least for '24.  Plus, the Bears would be stuck with Fields, who (even with Jefferson) the Vikings may not view as a threat.  Plus the Bears are also incompetent idiots, so Minn. .may not care.

Sometimes you just have to make the best deal that you can, regardless of who it's with.  The Cowboys and Eagles have traded, the Eagles traded McNabb to Washington, and there's probably countless other examples.

Sometimes trades can be win/win, so the net is zero.  If the net is zero, then it truly doesn't matter.

Fair. I honestly forgot about the McNabb trade. It’s an entire era I’d like to wipe from my mind.

Pretty boring, not going to lie. I was hoping it would be more like the gold Cadillacs that have been running in IMSA. 23XI says the car will run three times with three different drivers, presumably with the same livery.

I’d love if the 23XI scheme got progressively more gold
