  1. Can someone direct me to an updated Aussie Rules template for Photoshop?

    What are you looking for?

Full player? Davidson converted his rugby one for me.

Just jumpers, I have gazzza's and my own

Jumpers, shorts and socks, no player. Again, gazzza's

    Footy-Templates.gif

But all are in AI10 format. I don't know how this works in Photoshop as I don't use it myself.

  2. Besides free distort, how can a apply a slant to say a wordmark?

I'm working off AI10, and in that you right click and brings up the options Transform>Shear.

The number you type into the box is the angle the text will slant.

If you want other effects, go to Effect>Warp and a bunch of options come up.

  3. Everything jp said, only three minutes later, and with a weird Aussie accent.

But i like it better when you say it. Aussie accents are sexy.

    :P

Coming from a large man like yourself, I find that creepy and weird.

Let's drink beer to prove our masculinity and heterosexuality.

(Hey, it's Friday afternoon here. any excuse will do)

  4. Redrawing is an option. Of course you could take your jumpers and select them then place them over where you want them, and then unselect thme, (stay with me) then take your white arrow and select the jumper to see where your anchors are. Then you can adjust those and add other points/anchors and make your adjustments that way.

This is basically what I've done, and I think it worked out reasonably well.

I actually took this idea, and Distorted the jumper to the shape of the 3D version using the Free Distort tool.

Then, I did the same on each part of the design, as neccessary. Sometimes they needed to be rotated slightly.

I still had to play with it a little, but at least that gives it a little perspective.

  5. I have a problem.

    I have my footy jumpers:

    West-Coast-1.gif

And now I have this new template from Fraser (davidson from this forum):

    Wills-game8.gif

What I want to know is how to warp my flat jumpers so they fall nicely onto the slightly off centre new template.

    Or, in other words

    Warp.gif

Just bumping this up so it doesn't get lost on the previous page.

Anyone know what sort of Warp distortion this needs?

Or do I have to re-draw everything?

  6. I have had Illustrator CS2 for a few months, but I still have been using Inkscape because I am more comfortable with it. I am now trying to learn Illustrator a little bit. I have already learned quite a bit, but I have a question. On Inkscape, when you scale something, the stroke size changes to stay in proportion with everything else, but on Illustrator the stroke stays the same while everything else gets smaller or larger. I am sure the answer is probably simple, but how do you make it so the stroke width will grow or shrink as everything else does?

When you open the Scale box, under Options, there's a little check box for Scale Strokes & Effects.

    Check it.

Then it will scale the stoke at the same ratio as everything else.

  8. Who made this football template?

    ramsuniconcept.png

If that person isn't around anymore, does anybody want to update the side view to incorporate the head, arm, leg and foot? If so I have the perfect match available in vector format.

Speaking of that template, does anyone have it anymore? I've got it on my other computer but when I try to transfer it over, it has not been working for me, it won't open on this computer.

If so, could you email it to bruschimania@gmail.com?

    Thanks

  11. I have a Illustrator question. How do I make text arc? I'm trying to a get the text to look similar to this.

    Thanks.

Make a path in the shape you want the text to follow, then click on the T for Text Tool and hold it down.

This will open up other text tools.

Click on the one called Path Type Tool, which is a T on a downhill angle.

Click on the shape, then typoe the texy.

You can move the shape around once you've got the text on it to get it exactly right.

When you're happy with it, convert the text to Paths and you're done.

  12. I was wondering if anyone knew how to make vertically arched text, like what the Washington Nationals use for their wordmarks. Thanks in advance.

You mean like the text here:

    fp3682~Washington-Nationals-Posters.jpg

If so, highlight everything you want arched, then go Shift F9 to bring up the Pathfinder tab.

Click on Merge to make everything one compound shape, and it also Groups it.

    Then go

    Effect>Warp>Arc Lower.

Play with the Bend Percentage until it looks like what you want.

  13. Heres a question: is it possible to make a double stroke in illustrator, two outlines? Don't know if mine will do it, I have illustrator 10.

Thanks to all who can help.

    Bomberblitz-1.gif

Do you mean like the Silver and Red is around the Black text?

If so, yes, and this was done in AI10.

So in this example, I've got Black text, BOMBERBLITZ.COM

I went to Object>Path>Offset Path and it creates an outline of the text in Black.

    So I made it silver.

Then with that still highlighted, do Object>Path>Offset Path again, and this time make it Red.

Is this what you meant by double stroke outline?

PS If you can avoid it, don't use stroke, use Offset Path, as the thicker you make your stroke, it takes off some of your main path.

  14. Okay here is a quick question. It it is about "covering up an area" or "not letting a portion of a design show.

Here is the best example I can think of. Say you are doing a jersey design. You want to place the logo on the sleeve so you angle it a little and slide it in the appropriate area that looks realistic. Obviously, part of this logo is going to hang off of the template. Is there an easy way for me to hide that or make the edge of the jersey the "border" for that logo?

I have been just making a false white area to cover it up...but that isn't good when you do other designs for people or want them printed or cut on vinyl at a shop. It lacks integrity.

    Any help?

    http://boards.sportslogos.net/index.php?sh...c=31557&hl=

    Go to post 3.

  15. first, make a copy of the jersey outline, with no fill, and bring it to the front...select the jersey outline and the numbers, or whatever else you want clipped and hit either ctrl+7 (pc), command+7 (mac), or object-->clipping mask-->make

    hope that made sense.

Yeah it work thanx for the help, Plus does it always go white ( the jersey outline ) or do i have to select the colours before i make the clipping mask ?

This should help too. For those that are more 'show-me' than 'tell-me'.

    It's the 3rd post.

  16. thats what i meant, how to remove it from acrobat, everytime i open one, i click save a copy, then i open it in illustrator and i can not use it, it wont convert to live paint and i do not know why. so i guess how do you remove vector files from acrobat?

    What I do is this.

First, in Acrobat, zoom right in on the pdf to make sure the graphic in it is indeed originally a vector graphic.

If it pixelates, it's probably a gif or other raster file in the original.

If it is a vector, then I save the pdf.

I then open up Illustrator and open the pdf. File>Open

It comes up with a box "Acrobat pdf plug in".

From there I pick the page I want to get the graphic from.

    That's about it really.

Maybe you're missing some of the software.

  17. Copy is ctrl-c and paste is ctrl-v. How do you arch text in cs2?

    Type the text

(Right Click) Create Outlines to change the text to a shape.

    Effect>Warp>Arch to create the Arch.

(Click on Preview and it will preview each change made in the Bend %)

Object>Expand Appearance to change it to an arched shape.

  18. I dont know if this can be done here or photoshop or where ever but i was woundering how or if can be done the stiching on a jersey such as the latest conept "jesery wallpapper", if anyone knows what i am talking about .

Can this be done threw illustrator ?

Someone did a tutorial on how they did it, and it was f0r Photoshop, using functions it has and Illustrator doesn't.

I know this because I use Illustrator, but don't use Photoshop.

And I remember thinking they're cool, but not anything I could do myself.

  19. I just got a laptop that had Illustrator 8 on it. Does anyone know any tutorials?

What kind are you looking for?

Just something to start with. I know absolutely nothing about it. Anything to make something. Something for a beginner.

    http://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modPage.asp?ID=97

This is the very basic stuff, though I think they're using a later version.

I'd also search through the pages of this thread, as this has been asked a few times.

  20. This is a question that I'm sure has been asked many times, so I apologize in advance for asking it yet again. Where do most of you download Illustrator? LimeWire? And what would be the best version to download? I, myself, have been working with Photoshop 7.0 for a while now, but I'm very interested in using Illustrator. Thanks for the help guys! ^_^

Most of us 'download' Illustrator from the CD we got when we BOUGHT Illustrator from the Retail Outlet.

Some offer student's rates, if that applies to you.

  21. this may be a stupid question, but is there any way to automatically add an outline to a logo without having to draw it? Also, im trying to figure out if you can put words inside an outline, sorta like the pistonsthenextdynasty thread about the dragons wordmark, or do you have to do that by hand? thanks guys

Looks like no-one who knows what they're doing is answering, so you're stuck with me.

    What I do is this.

I take all the bits that are going to be outlined and copy them and paste them behind.

    Take ptnd's Dragon, as mentioned.

    dragonlogoalt3.png

That Black shape that forms the outline here is going to be one shape at the bottom of all the others, ie the green, orange and white shapes.

What you do is select that Path and do a Object>Path>Offset Path.

It then asks how big you want the path.

Usually 2-3 points is enough, depending on the size of what you're drawing.

If there's more than one shape making up the outline, copy them all and paste them behind, then, through the Pathfinder tab, select Merge and the shapes become one shape. Then do the Offset Path as above.

Same goes with Test for wordmarks, though you'd want to right click on the Text and select Create Outlines first. Then do the same as above, as your text is now part of the drawing.

I hope this helps. And I hope there's not a better way of doing it.

If there is, please tell me as this is how I'm doing it.

  22. I've got this logo:

    http://www.ebash.com/images/bigebash-onblack.jpg

It's a raster image (obviously). I want to make it a vector so we can get a sign made.

I've also got a white-backgrounded image which might make the process easier. I'm pretty familiar with photoshop, but not so much in illustrator. What tools would be best? If this was photoshop, I'd be using the lasso or wand...what for illustrator?

You'd need to re-do it completely by tracing it.

    I use the pen tool.

I recommend pcgd's tutorial on tracing.

    http://www.patrickcummings.net/tutorials/ and this one too
