  1. Tonight was a bitter pill to swallow...on the ice and the turnout.

What's a bitter pill to swallow is having a commissioner fight tooth and nail to keep a team in a city/area that very few are interested in while teams like the Sacramento Kings in the NBA are all but gone and teams like the North Stars, Nordiques, Whalers and Jets(original jets) got relocated from fan bases that genuinely cared about the teams at least far more than the general fan base of the Coyotes. THe only thing that is not as bitter with Minnesota, Winnipeg and possibly Quebec is that they got teams back.

  2. IMHO a player can have more than one "right" uniform. For me Magic, Lakers and to some extent Heat (because of the ring) are fine for Shaq. Cleveland, Phoenix and Boston are the wrong ones.

When it comes to David Beckham people tend to forget that as a United player he was considered as one of the best right midfielders in the world. Afterwards there was more hype than quality football in his career.

about the only thing i'm familiar with concerning beckham is the all the hype and media spots with in gossip magazines with his spice girl wife. The first time i heard of him was back on the cyber-nhl boards when he was going to i think Madrid? and everyone was flipping out about it. i want to say that was the start of his hype.

Only if you're not old enough to remember his years with Man U.

i'm probably old enough to remember his years with man u, i turned 30 not to long ago. I never had an interest or followed soccer to any degree. So i honestly didn't know anything about him until all his media hype with his spice girl wife.

  4. Martin St. Louis

that's funny because i still somewhat associate St. Louis with the Flames. It's him with the lightning that still seems odd to me.

now if that doesn't bring back a flood of disappointment. He was a goalie i really liked when he was a maple leaf. I was totally excited when he came to NY. Then he left with a couple of disappointing years which i think he won like 7 games in his 33 total games during the 2 years he played for them.

  5. Glendale handed out pink slips to 49 employees Wednesday to help balance a $35 million spending gap in next year's budget.
The city last year handed over $25 million to the National Hockey League to manage the Phoenix Coyotes and arena. It has pledged another $25 million this season, which comes due when the team plays its last game.

So they're laying off city workers and closing off public services, while nearly three-quarters of the city's budget deficit comes directly from subsidizing a hockey team that nobody in town seems to particularly care about.

    Pathetic.

    relocate the gd'ed team.

  6. VC as a sun.... how bout Nash as a maverick:

i honestly associate Nash with the mavs. any other team seems strange.

Really? He started his career in Phoenix then later returned to the Suns and won back to back MVPs. A Suns uni is definitely his right jersey

i do see that but i know him more as the big three in Dallas "Dirk, Nash and Finley." that time was the only real period where i payed any attention to basketball. since his departure to phoenix, i really haven't watched or payed attention to basketball all that much. it's a matter of perception.

  7. There's a city in Quebec named Asbestos. Such a move wouldn't help them get away from their problem at all!

I don't think the Nassau Coliseum is long for this world, but that doesn't mean the Islanders are similarly doomed. They're worth too much where they are.

Isn't going to help them if they have no place to play. And no, Brooklyn isn't the answer, that ship has sailed...

    and now your quebec islanders.
