Great passing play, but it was all made possible by Ovi's complete lack of effort with the puck and on the backcheck.

Makes the Stefon Diggs trade look even better for the Bills. I still can't believe the Bills got a 2nd rounder for an old receiver with an attitude problem. Swapping 6th & 7th round picks for the #2 overall pick from 3 years ago... daaaamn.

Sabres bring back Lindy Ruff as coach. On the one hand, he's basically Mr. Sabre. Almost half the team's existence has had him as either player or head coach. I *like* Lindy, but I'm not very excited about this.

2nd rounder for a 30YO receiver who throws a temper tantrum every time he gets knocked out of the playoffs? I'll take that every day.

Even if they did, no chance in hell they'd use that name.

The funny thing is that if teams ever stop giving Jason Peters money just for him to be hurt, the Eagles could have two OLs going into the HOF in the same year. That's got to be a record.
It's completely insane that he's still playing. His rookie season was with the Drew Bledsoe Bills.

Adding to this after finding out that the meeting was unannounced. As in, the Omaha crew flew to New York and managed to get a meeting with Bettman without an appointment.

Dear San Jose. Please stop winning games. This is not how we get better odds at getting Celebrini. Please understand how the draft lottery works.
Your begrudging fan, A. Houston.NHL draft odds are ridiculously flat. You could go 0-82, and you'll still get less than 20% chance at the #1 overall pick. You don't want a team that has completely hollowed itself out and given up on any chance of competing. It's a stink in the locker room that isn't always easy to wash off.

The Lions should just get the stickum out at this point.

No way the universe is this cruel to Lions fans, right…
After that third down drop, I'm going to say yes, yes there is a way.

Surprised no one pointed this out, but the clock re-starts after an out of bounds play prior to the 2:00 warming in the first half and the 5:00 mark in the fourth quarter.
Sorry, nothing wrong here.
Somehow I never noticed this before, and it's really going to annoy me.

What good is stability if that stability is barely above a mediocre level? Either you want to try to win or you don't. If you do, then you don't want a Kirk Cousins.
If you're cool with finishing with 9, 10, and occasionally 11 wins, but neve being a real threat, then sure. But I'm not sure why any franchise would strive for that. And before some dope says "some teams would kill for that" that's a dopy thing that only dopes say, because after the first 10 win season gives people hope, eventually they'll realize that they're at the ceiling. It's not good enough. I don't care if you've been 0-17 for 10 season, the goal should be to win the SB (knowing that it's not going to happen within one or maybe two seasons of change).
Having a pretty good QB with a really good team around him is still a valid strategy to win the Super Bowl. Sure, it's better to have one of the greatest players of all-time at QB, but you could draft #1 overall multiple years in a row and it's still not guaranteed.

Yes, that's the rule. Once it leaves the QB's hand, it's a pass and therefore you can't interfere with the receiver regardless of if you're within the 5 yards or not.
If the defender does something to "extend" the hit after the ball is in the air, I totally get it. This was a pretty quick tap, though; I don't think it makes sense to punish the D for something as quick as that. It looked like he did start the hit before the ball was out of Mahomes' hand.

This game has descended into tomfoolery.
Jason Kelce is going to end up on the field in full Eagles gear any second.

So you can be hitting a guy, and the QB releases the ball, and then the thing you were already doing becomes illegal? According to Gene Steratore, yes.

brb I'm deleting any posts where I said how stupid the fumbling through the end zone rule is.

And yeah - I'm pulling hard for Buffalo here, and don't feel good one bit. KC is KCing again, and at this point, I can't see the Buffalo defense getting it done.
Not guaranteeing a win, but this Bills team can punch back. I've watched a lot of years where it felt like one bad break would ruin their chances.

Too many injuries on defense for the Bills. At least they're only playing *checks notes* Patrick Mahomes.
I'll be covering my eyes for the next 3 hours.

I bet the Bucs wish they had an extra 30 seconds on the clock right about now...
-
Did anyone else notice the clock kept running after that catch with ~11 minutes left in the 4th? Even though it seemed like a very obvious out-of-bounds to me? If one team runs out of time on a comeback drive at the game, that's going to be big.
Edit: From the NFL drive summary. Pushed out of bounds, but next play didn't start until 39 seconds later on the game clock.

I don't need the Bills to win the Super Bowl. I just don't want to lose to the goshdarn Chiefs again.

As is tradition, since the Bills traded the Chiefs the pick they used to take Mahomes... when the Bills went with Nathan Peterman, EJ Manuel, and Tyrod Taylor in 2016/7.
