PITTSBURGH PENGUINS Sure, the Penguins' current look is iconic, but I wonder if we merge the designs from all three jerseys? The probable result would be my take on the home and road uniforms. The diagonal striping from their current alternate jersey makes its way to the sleeves, while retaining the gold portion on the top. Most of all, the hem striping gets a consistent look with the one on the sleeves, which, TBH, was my problem with the current home and road jerseys. Gold returns an an alternate jersey base color, with an interesting take on the diagonal text logo. I used their current, modern wordmark, and made it diagonal. Like the first Reverse Retro jersey and the current alternate, the triangle-less penguin flanks the shoulders. Finally, what if the Penguins opted to remain a double blue team? The answer lies on my Reverse Retro concept. It's basically their current uniform design, but with a light blue base and navy blue sleeves, pants, and helmet. For the front crest, I recolored their inaugural logo to remove any trace of black and gold on it.

COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS I know for a fact that there are numerous Blue Jackets uniform concepts that utilize the red and white stripes from the flag of Ohio, and I'm joining that trend (of course, with my own touches). On the home and road jerseys, three stars are arranged vertically below the red and white stripes on the sleeves. These stars were taken from the team's first alternate jersey—yeah, the one with the black yoke. I also retained the different colors of pants for these two jerseys, since, in my opinion, navy pants look better with white jerseys than red pants. For the alternate jersey, I basically went with a stripped-down design, making the chevron stripes from the uniforms worn during the Civil War the primary design element. Since the Blue Jackets have already thrown back to ALL of their uniform designs in team history, I went with something that's way, way back for the Reverse Retro. As a tribute to NHL's presence in Ohio, I went for a Cleveland Barons fauxback. The team's first logo is the jersey's front crest, but removed silver and electric green from it, to achieve an old-school, simplistic feel. However, the biggest draw from this jersey are the sleeve numbers encased in the state map of Ohio. It's a great reminder that professional hockey already got its mark in Ohio before the Blue Jackets did.

SAN JOSE SHARKS While the redesign of the uniforms is good, I might not consider myself a fan of teal helmets and pants. Whenever I think of the Sharks' duds, I think of black helmets and pants, and teal/white/black jerseys and socks. The home and road uniforms are my re-imagination of their new set. I could not find the exact number font, so I created my own. The alternate jersey takes some cues from the team's 1998-2007 set. All those curves are meant to represent both a shark's fin and the bodies of water found in the Bay Area. Initially, I thought of having another California Golden Seals tribute for my Reverse Retro, which is a teal-and-yellow version of the Seals' white jersey during the green-and-blue days. But then I thought that would be redundant since the Sharks already did it in 2022. And so, I went with a color that has never been worn by the Sharks but already had with their AHL affiliate team: orange. I used their inaugural uniforms as the base design, made the jerseys and socks orange, and made the helmet and pants teal (essentially breaking my promise earlier but it looks great anyway), to look less like the Flyers or the Ducks.

ARIZONA COYOTES This is one of @BuckDancer's requests. While the Kachina comeback is very welcoming, I have seen so many concepts that utilize this particular design, and I want mine to somehow stand out. So, I ditched the Kachina altogether and went with the design from the Coyotes' most recent brick red jersey—which can be found on the collar. @OhioSportsMan61 came up with several concepts which utilized that design, and those became my inspiration for what I made. Brick red is restored as the main color, and yes, I did reduce the colors in the palette, eliminating green and purple, as evidenced in the front crest. The Coyotes have never incorporated Arizona's state flag on their uniforms, and since there are lots of Cardinals concept uniforms that did the exact thing (including mine several years ago), I decided to go for it. The main inspiration for the alternate was Arizona State's anthracite hockey jersey. As you can see below, I resurrected their modern logos before the full-time return of the Kachina, except for the howling coyote... ...which is on the shoulders of my Reverse Retro concept. I took their 2008-2014 black alternate jersey and made it sand. Now, why this one? First, their uniforms from 2003 up until 2015 are too basic. Second, around the period where this alternate was worn, the Coyotes won the Pacific Division. I also thought of utilizing their current uniforms and making it green, but that would be too recent.

FLORIDA PANTHERS How about a two-for-one deal on Thanksgiving weekend? @johne9109 made this request, so I gave the Panthers' uniforms a shot. First of all, gold is out, yellow is in, and it's prevalent on the first three uniforms. Second, I changed the designation of their logos, thus the leaping panther becomes the primary, while the shield becomes the secondary. The home and road uniforms are basically a redefined version of their long-time, original design, still with the current number font being used. I'm happy with the results, plus these two give nostalgia towards the team's Stanley Cup run in 1996. The Panthers' 2009-2012 alternate comes back to life, but not as a Reverse Retro uniform. This version uses the same colors as the first two uniforms, and I gotta say, this looks way better than the real-life version. I utilized the shield logo as the front crest, and I used the team's vintage block font for the numbers. Don't be so shocked if the Reverse Retro is too similar to the home and road uniforms I made, but it's the original jersey, just recolored in yellow. Navy blue becomes the number and NOB color for improved readability (I tried using red, but it might not be readable from afar).

MINNESOTA WILD How I wish that "The State of Hockey" will go back to their original uniforms, so I took the matters in my own hands and do that exact thing, but with minor changes, of course. I tweaked the sleeve yoke so that it follows the same pattern as the right side of the logo, and I updated the striping on the socks for consistency with the jersey design. See the shoulder logo? That came from the front crest of their 2022 Winter Classic jerseys, and I feel that the state map logo also looks good on its own. The red alternate jersey is a modified version of their current uniforms, with some touches inspired by their final Reebok Edge set. Finally, since the Wild embraces the North Stars identity more than the Dallas Stars, I went with a mashup, taking the Wild's original red jersey, and recolored the whole uniform in green, yellow, and white, with yellow becoming the base jersey color, since the North Stars never had a yellow jersey during its existence.

On my original concept, I went with that yoke to be different from what the Flames wore in the 2000's. Anyway, here's the updated version, and the white jersey here REALLY looks like the one from that era, save for the fonts, the logos, and the collar treatment. But I'll say this, the white jersey looks way better with red pants.

TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS While the current uniforms look good, I'm really a sucker for uniformity on the jerseys. So, on the home and the road jerseys, I updated the hem striping back to the way it was before the current design. The alternate uniform is where things get wacky. As a tribute to the current black uniform, I did the same thing to my alternate uniform concept. The design basis was the Leafs' uniforms from the 70's up to the early 90's. I adjusted the location of the hem striping to the end. I went with the current logo instead of the logo from that era, then I went with the wordmark-less maple leaf logo as the shoulder logo. For few years already, the Leafs have frequently thrown back to their St. Pats days, but with the exception of 1927, they never had a touch of green on any of their uniforms using their current name. That all changes with my Reverse Retro concept: a straight-up all-green version of their 1967-1970 uniforms. I know it's just a simple color switch, but it's a subtle mashup of two monikers that this franchise has used.

Here's an alternate version of my Blackhawks concept. Since sports teams are now steering away from Native American imagery, I went with the literal meaning of the nickname: a black hawk. Plus, they already have Tommy Hawk, so it's no surprise that I leaned towards a black hawk's head as the primary logo. Hockey fans might be familiar with its basis, as it's a black hawk version of the current Portland Winterhawks logo that contains references from the current logo and Tommy Hawk. The alternate logo is a C with the star from the city flag of Chicago and an additional green stripe to make it look like the city logo when it is put beside the star. It comes in two versions: one with a red star (for white and black background) and another with a white star (for red background). The home, road, and alternate uniforms remain the same, but I decided to modernize things a little bit with the numbers.

CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS I know that the Blackhawks' logo has been a subject of controversy, so I'll change it in a future concept. But for now, the logo is staying put. The home and road jerseys remain the same, although there's a minor change on the red jersey: the return of 5 stripes on the sleeves. Aside from this, I changed the collar for these jerseys from v-neck to tie-down. I brought back the black jersey from 1996 as the team's full-time alternate, since I'm a fan of it. The only change that was made is the elimination of red sleeve ends. The Reverse Retro uniform for this team is an all-tan version of their uniform from 1935 to 1937 (served as an inspiration for their 2009 Winter Classic uniforms). Only the helmet and the gloves did not get the tan treatment. In a foreshadowing move, instead of the Native American head logo, I used the Tomahawk-C logo as the front crest of this jersey.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS I thought it's time to move on from the Orca and embrace the Stick-in-Rink full time once again. I recolored the 2019 Stick-in-Rink logo and made it the Canucks' new primary logo, with the Johnny Canuck logos serving as alternates. The home and road uniforms were based from the team's Reebok Edge alternate uniform from 2008 to 2017. Aside from the logos, the biggest change comes from the choice of number font, where I used the number font from the Minnesota Vikings (without the additional designs on the right). The alternate jersey was inspired by the team's inaugural uniforms, but with a slight modification on the treatment of "V" on the sleeve stripes. I made the jersey green, since they never had one, and the full-body Johnny Canuck logo is front and center, just like on their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford. Finally, we have the Reverse Retro, and finally, one of the wildest jersey designs in the history is back! Specifically, I picked the final iteration of that design, which is the 1982-1985 version, where the TV number and the logo are together in one spot on the sleeve. This time, though, it's in the current blue-and-green color scheme.

BOSTON BRUINS Another Original Six team gets a refinement of uniforms, as both the home and road jerseys feature the same shoulder yoke color and striping pattern on the sleeves (road jersey still has black sleeve ends) and the hem. Unlike on the current iteration of uniforms, the shoulder yoke is now straight. And, as the cherry on top, the black jersey is now paired with yellow socks once again. The yellow alternate jersey is inspired by the team's previous yellow jerseys from the 50's and the 60's. When taken a closer look, the striping pattern resembles those of another black-and-yellow team, Pittsburgh Steelers. The yellow socks paired with this particular jersey is different from the one paired with the black jersey. Finally, my take on the Reverse Retro uniform takes us back to the 1920's, the decade when the team started. In particular, I picked the uniforms worn from 1926 to 1932 (also became the inspiration for the 2019 Winter Classic uniform), but this time, in a brown base color.

CALGARY FLAMES As much as I applaud the Flames for going with the throwbacks as their full-time look since 2021, I miss the times that the team had black on their uniforms. But I also get the sentiment of emphasizing red and yellow, as well as the nostalgia that the current uniforms have (the team won a Stanley Cup with those). Therefore, I came up with a home and road uniform design that is going to be a middle ground between those two thoughts. The overall design is a combination of the tail and sleeve design from the Blasty uniforms and shoulder yoke design from their 2013-2016 alternate jersey. On the red jersey, white is emphasized as the primary accent color instead of black, while on the white jersey is vice-versa. Take note that I used a new font for these two jerseys. The alternate is basically the Flames' first Reverse Retro uniforms, but with new NOB and number fonts, and no striping on the pants. I've always wanted to use their 2011 Heritage Classic uniform (inspired by Calgary Tigers) as my choice for the Reverse Retro uniform, and so, I made a red and black version of it, with the logo from the 2013-2016 alternate on the front.

DETROIT RED WINGS I know that the Red Wings have an untouchable look, even to the name on the back. I tried to eschew from that particular tradition, but I'll be anticipating some sort of backlash for it. Therefore, I left the home and road uniforms unchanged, save for the location of the tail striping (visible on the road white jersey). If there's a uniform where I can experiment with designs that are impossible to be applied on a uniform that's as classical as those of the Red Wings, then it comes in the form of my alternate concept. Since the 2022 Reverse Retro uniform is the first uniform that featured black, I might as well go all-in with this color. I have seen some black uniform concepts on the internet, so I can say that I'm not alone. It's basically an all-black version of their 2016 Stadium Series uniform, but with some modifications on the sleeve stripes, not to mention the straight serif NOB (usually done during the preseason, TIL) instead of the traditional arched one. Finally, we have the Reverse Retro, and out of all designs that the Red Wings have already used, there's only one that hasn't: that of the Detroit Falcons. This RR concept of mine brings this complicating design back to life, with an obvious name change, of course. I decided against putting yellow on any part of the uniform, and instead, I used the color palette from their 2014 Winter Classic uniform. And since the original Falcons uniform had a white jersey and red pants, I reversed the order of the colors, so that it features a red jersey and cream pants.

ST. LOUIS BLUES Yup, your eyes are not kidding. There are major changes for the Blues in this concept, starting with an even lighter shade of blue, which, according to @TruColor, is used on their Winter Classic uniforms in 2017 and 2022, and on their real-life 2022 Reverse Retro uniform. The next most significant change is found on both the home and road uniforms, which both feature a curved striping on the sleeves (a nod to the Gateway Arch, even if it's in a different orientation). As much as I would like to make the Blues uniforms lean on blue, yellow, and white, I did not like the outcome when I tested that plan. Therefore, I resorted to the navy blue-heavy theme on the home uniform and a light blue-heavy one on the road uniform, which lead us to different colors of pants, a first in this concept. I brought back their navy blue alternates, but with some modifications such as straight striping on the sleeves and the white shoulder yoke. The Reverse Retro that I chose is their 1985-1987 uniforms, recolored in yellow. It's significant because, for the first time, the Blues sported a color other than blue, yellow, or white.

I have updated the sock pattern so that it becomes navy-teal-navy-orange-white, and then I made the numbers white outlined in orange, but I left the jersey striping as is.

NEW YORK ISLANDERS The Isles already have a timeless look, despite some minimal changes for the majority of the team's existence. And so, I left the home and road uniforms as is, but with a minor addition: four lines on the top main stripe (orange on the blue jersey, blue on the white jersey). Why four? It's a reminder of the team's 4 straight Stanley Cups from 1980 to 1983, one of several unfathomable feats in NHL history. If they're gonna make it 5, then the lines will be added. The alternate uniform takes us back to the Reebok Edge days, but it's not a Reverse Retro uniform. Per @JerseyJimmy's suggestion, I went with the Isles' orange-sleeved jersey design, with orange and blue switching places. Since it might be redundant to put the primary logo on the alternate, I went with the NY hockey stick logo that's currently used on their real-life alternates. And here's the real Reverse Retro. I think that with the current jersey cut of the Adizero, it's kinda impossible to replicate the wackiness of the "Fisherman" jerseys. Thus, we were treated with an underwhelming version of those infamous jerseys from the late 90's. In my version, I did my very best to emulate that craziness by adding more teal and leaning towards a white-heavy navy uniform, with the white helmets (probably never been done before in the NHL) and socks as the finishing touches.

Nice observation! It's quite difficult to think of a Reverse Retro design for each team, especially if it used the same uniform design for almost its entire history or if it had only two designs. Just a fun fact, I proposed an Oil Kings-inspired RR uniform for the Oilers, but the design is kinda similar to the Oilers' orange alternate, which is a throwback to their early WHA uniforms. And thus, I eventually settled on their Reebok Edge jerseys. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion! I'm going with the Islanders after the Canadiens.

MONTREAL CANADIENS The Habs have been wearing the same uniforms for almost eternity, and it's a sacrilege to change the overall design of those uniforms. But for my concepts, I just changed the number font to the one used in the 2016 Winter Classic. And if you have sharp vision, you'll notice that I used lighter shades of red and blue, except for my Reverse Retro uniform concept. I have frequently thought the white version of their red jersey should be in the regular uniform rotation, as was the case from 1944 to 1947 and in the 2006-07 season (the aforementioned WC uniform is a special case). Therefore, I just made one, but with red numbers outlined in white. And finally, here's a team that's even more difficult to conceptualize a Reverse Retro uniform. So, we need to travel all the way back to the 1930's to get the team's first white uniform (done for games against the Red Wings) and recolor the jersey to the darker shade of blue the team is currently using. To complete the era appropriateness (if that's a correct word), I paired the jersey with khaki pants and khaki gloves.

Before I proceed with the Canadiens, it's been 1 day since the 2022-23 Reverse Retro jerseys were unveiled, and the Sabres RR uniform I created was the closest one to the real thing. The significant difference between the two is in the color palette. The real one has the current colors, while mine has the 2010's colors. Anyway, let me know what are your thoughts on the concepts that were released so far. And if you have a team in mind that I should do after the Habs, let me know it as well.

DALLAS STARS The Stars did it right when the team had the NHL All Star uniform-inspired design. But since we're leaning towards simplistic designs nowadays, I decided to simplify things with my home and road uniform concepts, and the final design ended up being filled with chevrons, which reminds me of the Calgary Flames "Blasty" uniforms. For the alternate uniform, I went with the holdover uniforms from the franchise's final years in Minnesota, complete with the vertical Dallas script on the pants. Replacing the old Stars logo is the roundel logo. Finally, my Reverse Retro is taken from the early days of Reebok Edge—yeah, the uniform with the city name and number at the front. This time, though, it's an all-green version of their black uniform.

NASHVILLE PREDATORS To be honest, Smashville's current uniforms are plain. They don't fit into the nickname and the overall atmosphere at every Preds home game. I'd rather have their final Reebok design for the uniforms, but I understand that we're moving on from piping-heavy designs. And so, I went with a design that is a decent mash-up of all the uniform eras, from the inaugural season up to the present. I know that, upon looking at Google Images, there are similar designs to mine, but I'm sure y'all can tell the difference. The alternate uniform that I made pays tribute to the city itself, being known as "Music City" and "Country Music Capital". The team's guitar pick logo is front and center, and each TV number is enclosed in a circle to embody a guitar's sound hole. Since the Preds already had a Reverse Retro uniform based on their inaugural uniforms, I went with their first Reebok design as the basis, with silver taking over as the base jersey and sock color.

EDMONTON OILERS 2022-23 and beyond is the Oilers' third stint with the 80's dynasty era uniforms, and let's hope that it shall remain this way for eternity. But since this is a forum about concepts, we're going to make changes with what they have now—just minor changes, to be exact. For consistency's sake, I eliminated the orange sleeve ends on the blue jersey, and, just my preference, I repurposed the pants striping from their modern orange jersey years and recolored that particular pants to be paired with the regular blue and white jerseys. Speaking of the modern orange jersey, I brought it back as an alternate. Choosing a Reverse Retro is difficult for a team that rarely changes its look on the ice, and since there are rumors that the Oilers will throw it back to the Todd McFarlane-designed oil drop/gear uniform for the 2022-23 RR uniform, I have decided to use the Reebok Edge design. This time, though, I removed all the piping on the jersey and the pants, leaving the white-navy-orange-navy-white striping as the key design element.
