  1. A's options not named Las Vegas:

    Portland - ehhhh I don't think they'd build them a stadium

San Antonio - 2 teams already in Texas

Salt Lake City - too small

    Vancouver - Canada

Nashville/Charlotte - probably the best non-LV options available, but they're not "flashy" cities like LV is

I can't see it being anywhere other than Vegas. Sure, they'll "look at other options" (probably Nashville, if I had to guess) in case Nevada isn't willing to fund a 3rd stadium in less than 10 years, but that won't happen.

If nothing else, it's kinda funny that the A's and Raiders will once again be together, but in a different city.

I think there is a solution for this. If we can't have alternate helmets, why can't we have alternate masks instead?

We already do. Buffalo last year used both gray and white, before the redesign the Jets used dark green, white, and Kelly green, tons of teams have gray masks for throwbacks, the Chargers have yellow and navy. There's probably a few other examples I'm forgetting.

  3. From now on every time that picture of everyone with gray facemasks gets posted I'll just post this new and improved one.

    facemasks.jpg

Wow, color! Look how much better it is when the facemask actually fits with the rest of the helmet!

*Possible exceptions to the Giants and Steelers, who were the only two teams that I actually hesitated to color and think gray is an equally good option for them. Also I changed the Jets and Vikings masks from black to white/purple because their black masks are stupid.

  4. I like the wordmarks on the 2000s jerseys, but otherwise they should stay in that decade.

Not an unpopular opinion: the Cavs need to choose between navy and black. Definitely an unpopular opinion: I'd go with black. Like it or not (believe me, I don't like it), the biggest moment in franchise history took place while they were wearing black, and it can keep playing the same role it does currently while also taking over navy's. And, on a pure aesthetic viewpoint, I prefer wine/gold/black to wine/gold/navy.

Because if they leave they have control over who they schedule to play, bigger opponents, more revenue, better chances at a playoff spot, than in a non power 5. The Power 5 considers schools like BYU and Notre Dame to be power 5 schools, but not schools like UMASS or New Mexico State. However, as Independents, all have access to the college football playoff and new years six as at large bids. Scheduling more power 5 schools and beating them can earn them a higher chance of getting in.

ND is considered P5, but I wouldn't say BYU is. If they were during their undefeated run they would've been top 10, maybe even top 5 before losing to Coastal, instead of where they actually were in the mid teens.

Chicago State leaving makes sense because the WAC is going away from it's original plan of having teams in the Midwest to a plan that is more based in the Southwest and Texas. Being the outlier that they are, it makes sense that they would jump ship.

Now comes the green and white elephant in the room: Where do they go? Well..The article states they want to stay in Division I, but I find it hard for them to stay in Division I.

They mentioned UMKC quite a bit in their press release, I wonder if Chicago State's trying for the Summit League like they did. However, there's pretty much no reason for the Summit (or any other D1 conference, for that matter) to take them. They bring nothing to the table, other than a big market that doesn't care about them.

With Chicago State gone, Seattle is now the only geographic outlier in the conference. I wouldn't be that surprised if they eventually move to the WCC or Big West.

  7. There is now an ad for some sort of "wholesome nutrition" (whatever that means) that makes it so until it goes away (there's no X) your screen is completely locked, you can't do anything but scroll (and click the ad, of course). It's like those mobile ads that take over the whole screen for a bit, but for PC. It's been getting bad for a while, but this is the first one to actually be site-breaking.

  8. Not sure if anything will come of this, but this is interesting. Boise State might be trying to force their way out of the Mountain West again, at least if they listed to the coach. The conferences they looked (are looking?) at are the WCC and Big West, probably with football becoming an independent or joining the American.

If Tarleton State moves to the WAC in all sports (football included as they will be an FCS Independent), they will have some in-state rivals.  I think that the WAC should stay in the FCS if they bring football back (which looks like they will because all of those schools they have added all play football).  Going back to FBS would require all of the football programs in their conference to expand seating of their stadiums.  In that case, Southern Utah would have to expand their football stadium to 30,000 if they ever want to host the Utes or Aggies or even Cougars.  The Texas schools in the conference would have to expand also to 30,000 if they ever want to host the likes of Texas Tech or Baylor.  When Texas State jumped from the FCS Southland to FBS Sun Belt, they expanded their stadium to 30,000.

Sam Houston State, Lamar and Stephen F. Austin represent East Texas, a region without any FBS programs but with a large number of alumni from FBS schools, many of whom are the other Texas schools in the Sun Belt, AAC, C-USA, Big 12 and Texas A&M and also quite a few from LSU, La Tech, Louisiana and Louisiana Monroe as well as Arkansas and Arkansas State.  If all three were to be a part of a FBS conference in the WAC, they would all have to expand their stadiums to 30,000 if they ever want to host an FBS school from the area.  Same for Abilene Christian and Tarleton State with the latter located in Stephenville, Texas, just on the outer reaches of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

I don't think the WAC goes back to FBS, but will become an FCS conference.

I don't either. I meant FCS when I said that they might be looking at bringing football back.

  10. The Big 12's already shown that, if given the option of BYU or no one, they will choose no one. If they're out of the picture, the only other power conference that makes sense geographically is the Pac-12, who also will never take them due to their religious affiliation (and, while this is just speculating, I don't think Utah wants BYU on an equal level to them again after decades of being the "little brother"). That's not even taking into account the not playing on Sunday issue.

Basically, assuming the bridge between BYU and the Mountain West is irreparably burned, there's not really an option other than staying right where they are. Which, as long as Gonzaga doesn't jump for greener pastures, I think they're probably alright with. They get to be Mormon Notre Dame in football while also being in a surprisingly strong basketball conference (well, the rest of the conference sucks, but Gonzaga and St. Mary's along with BYU put the WCC in the upper tier of midmajors).

When we updated the template the next season, it included new black jerseys. Same font but different tailoring with the smaller collar. This version has not been worn in any official competition. Only for recruiting photos and the spring game, which is the most Georgia thing ever.

Didn't they heavily tease these coming back for the Notre Dame game last year, only to end up wearing red? I remember lots of UGA fans being mad about that.

  12. Florida Blue's always the one that takes over the borders of the screen for me. Seriously, what person either doesn't have insurance or does with a different company, has an ad take over their screen for a few seconds, and then says "yeah, I should get/switch to Florida Blue?" If you're going to make me wait before I can get rid of your stupid ad, at least be a product that I might want to buy. Google's already sold all of my information to a billion different companies, so it can't be that hard.

I really don't like how they only wore the bright green jerseys twice last year, and both times with a green helmet and pants. Give us green/green/yellow or yellow/green/yellow! Even something like nightmare/green/nightmare or chrome/green/green would probably look pretty good. Basically, they need to emphasize the bright green and different combos with that jersey, don't give us mono-nightmare for 2 games (3 if you count the Rose Bowl and chrome helmets worn there), and all is right with the world.

Overall I like the look, although I think it's probably a bit too simplistic and understated for Oregon. They need some flair, something that makes you say "ooh, look at that!" It's hard to do that while also looking respectable, but I think bringing back the wings on the shoulders (I prefer the 2015 style ones, but most work well) could do it. Maybe shrink the numbers again while they're at it. And, of course, focus on school colors with black/volt/nightmare/chrome/whatever else they want to do as an occasional change of pace to wear once, maybe twice a year.

I Like the Florida set a lot.  It’s odd but just... pleasant to look at I guess. Hopefully it’s a sunny day so we can get a clean look at it!

It's a night game, so we won't see it in sunlight. I think they'll look good, but I prefer the white helmets to the blue.

Beautiful helmet. Would be even better if the Pack wordmark was on both sides instead the logo being on one side, number on the other. That might be the worst trend in college football - I can't think of a time that it's looked good.
