Could any of these cities be in contention?

    San Antonio

    Austin

    El Paso

    Tucson

    Fresno

    Inland Empire (San Bernadino/Riverside)

    Salt Lake City

I'll also throw some Mexican cities into the mix:

    Mexico City

    Guadalajara

    Monterrey

People here in Tucson wont support the Dbags who are 2 hours away because they are a Phoenix team.  People here are big Red Sox, Yankee, Cub and Dodger fans.  I don't think they would support an MLB team here and if they do it would be out of spite against the Dbags who treated Tucson bad when they left the city/county holding the bag on an 8 year old spring training facility that was no longer good enough for them.  The owner that came along after Colangelo alienated Southern AZ really bad.

  2. I wouldn't mind seeing the 49ers change uniforms again.  As much as I like the Montana era uniforms I felt they did a very half assed job with bringing them back and they don't seem the same.

It would be nice to see more gold in the 49ers pants and jerseys that doesn't look beige or khaki.

Leaked draft caps. Not confirmed if these are the designs but if they are, they're just ok. Not great but not bad.

Not bad!!!  I like them.  I hope they do a trucker 80's style for the sideline caps with the horizontal stripes on the front with the team logo.

Agreed. They do as good of a job as any country at using cultural iconography on their kits, but never seem to use it in the right context. This is reminiscent of those black primaries they had a few years back.

I have noticed in the last 10 years that Mexico usually goes for some kind of black/clashing home jersey in non world cup years. Then when world cup comes around they switch back to traditional green.  This is one of the first black jerseys for Mexico that I actually like.  I might go and buy it.

I haven’t watched it yet, but I imagine one of my worst days as a sports fan will be watching The Last Dance and re-living the Jazz ‘98 Finals loss.

I have upmost respect for those Bulls teams and totally get the cultural phenomenon behind them, but I have to be honest: being a die-hard fan of the team they legendarily beat twice for MJ’s second swan-song (and seeing that understandably sensationalized over the course of two decades) really sucks sometimes. Oh well, at least they got to be part of a great ride I guess.

Utah Jazz losing two years in a row was a gut punch for me at the time too even though now I don't care about the NBA.  I grew up in Utah but had already moved to Boise, ID during those two NBA Finals.

Also 2003 Bartman incident was terrible

    2008 NLDS Cubs vs Dodgers

1988 NFC championship game Bears vs 49ers

2010 NFC championship game Bears vs Packers

1997 World Series game 7 Indians vs Marlins (Indians are my second fav behind the cubs)

1998, 2006 & 2014 World Cup runs by Brazil ending in disappointment.

  6. I miss the opening themes...

    MLB on NBC from 86-89

    HNiC theme

NFL on CBS late 80's theme

    ABC MNF 80's theme

    NFL on NBC theme 80's & 90's

Cubs baseball on WGN and seeing Harry Caray everyday

Keith Jackson, Dick Endberg, Charlie Jones, Don Criqui, John Madden, Pat Summerall, Vin Scully. I also miss fans celebrating on the field.  I miss the imperfect grass playing surfaces (mud, snow, rain, dirt fields at the end of the season).  I miss college bowl games meaning something.  I miss the old NHL with enforcers.  Old sportscenter.   I miss unique super bowl logos and fields, I miss daytime MLB playoffs and daytime Super Bowl's.  I miss the easy access of sports.  You could watch more on OTA or superstations or very basic cable.

Right. When you have a billion dollars you can easily get someone else to give you another billion dollars. That's not the problem. The problem is they want to reap the rewards without paying for it, which is another way they became billionaires in the first place.

Also stadiums don't need to cost a billion dollars. Baseball stadium design should be moving more where MLS is now. If you're in a climate like Oakland's you don't need a retractable roof like the Rangers or like you would in Vegas and you don't need 65,000 seats. I'd love to see a major league team take a minor league style design and really trick it out with about 32,000 super intimate seats.

This is the direction I want the DBacks to go in here in Arizona.  They only sellout Chase Field when there is a World Series or when the Yankees or Red Sox visit.  There are good crowds for Cubs, Dodgers and Giants games too but nothing to the extent of a sellout.  I think this concept of 32,000 would do well here if they happen to build out on the Salt River Reservation.

  8. It would be cool if someone that has the skills to make super bowl fields with this template from 1967 for the 1960 Philadelphia Eagles vs 1960 Houston Oilers.  Me personally would like to see a super bowl I field template for the 1963 Chicago Bears vs 1963 San Diego Chargers.  Could someone please make that one?  Would be cool to see what it would look like.

Really anxious to see just how bad the NFL will mess up the field for this special Super Bowl season. If they manage to screw this up, then we know it's time for some higher up individuals to retire, or lose their job. Between the team woodwork, team logo, team helmet, NFL shield, NFL 100th logo, conference logos, Super Bowl logo...they have A LOT to work with for this game. If the field looks anything like the past 10 plus years of half-u-know-what garbage, we will all be very disappointed. It makes me appreciate how well the fields were colored and prepared for the first 39 super bowls, since then it has progressively gotten worse, capped off by the generic super bowl logo. COME ON NFL!

They are probably trying to cut costs on paint LOL.  We should be thankful they are still coloring the endzones.  They would probably go with woodmarks only if they could get away with it. The way the field was done for the National Title Game between LSU and Clemson.

  10. June 9th, 2010 - My Blackhawks finally win the Stanley Cup against the Flyers in game six after so many years of near misses and futility.  When Kane scored the overtime goal I burst out in the living room and then really quick stopped because I didn't know what the hell was going on because it looked like they were going to replay or disallow the goal.  It was this delayed burst and then finally I was able to let it all out!

July 17th, 1994 - World Cup Final - Brazil x Italy.  This was my first world cup and the final fell on my birthday.  My mom made me a Brazil cake in advance.  We are of Brazilian heritage.  The whole game was agonizing for everyone at home, it was hot as hell in Washington State were we lived at the time and down in Pasadena.  We watched the game on the big satelite dish and got a raw feed of Rede Globo straight from Rio de Janeiro.  The penalty kicks was the longest moment of my life it seemed.

November 23rd, 2019 - Copa Libertadores Final - my Flamengo x River Plate.  I was in Rocky Point, Mexico with friends at the beach house watching the game on the phone.  Flamengo went down 1-0 in the first half and I thought well it was a great run we went as far as possible.  Then at the very last minute Flamengo tied the game and it appeared we would be heading to extra time/penalty kicks.  Then in injury time Flamengo scored again and became kings of South America.  It was the first time in my adult life Flamengo had won the equivalent of the champions league down in South America.  The first time was 1981 with Zico and I was only a baby.

November 2nd, 2016 - Game 7 World Series - Cubs finally break that mother:censored:ing GOAT curse!

January 1st, 2007 - My alma mater pulls off the upset of the century by defeating the Oklahoma Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl which at time as a BCS bowl in the old bowl system.  That trick play by Boise State will live in my memory forever.

2006 NFL season - watching the Bears finally dominate a regular season and make it to the super bowl.   I will never forget going to class at Maricopa Community College with the bears getting their butts handed to them by the Cardinals on MNF only to leave class later that night and hear Dennis Green on local radio in his rant.   I could not believe we came back!  I was too young for the 1985 Bears so I can't count that.  My earliest remembrance of that team was 1988 when they were already on their last legs.

  11. 1. 2003 NLCS when the Cubs blew a 3-1 lead to the Marlins. THE MARLINS! Not even a team that mattered (and still doesn't).

    2. 1988 & 2010 NFC Title Games hosted by the Bears at soldier field 1988 vs 49ers got blown out Joe Montana made this little 8 year old cry; i didn't get over it until April 89.  2010 vs Packers got blown out and to this day hate Aaron Rodgers & Jay "no heart/I don't care about anything" Cutler.

    3. 1998 FIFA World Cup Final: I am of Brazilian origin so France beating us badly plus Ronaldo getting the seizure was just a terrible day.  It was my 18th birthday that day too....

    • NFL : San Francisco 49ers first and foremost. I enjoyed watching the 80's teams but 1994 was my favorite team of all time for the 49ers.  My dad likes the Bears so I will root for them and wife likes the Chiefs so I have them as my AFC team.    I can't stand the Cardinals, the local sports media and their fanbase in the Valley.
    • MLB: Chicago Cubs because my dad raised me on the Cubs during the WGN cable years.  I would come home from school and turn on WGN first thing.  I like the Dbacks too since I am in Arizona.
    • NHL: Chicago Blackhawks  & Arizona Coyotes (I don't follow that much like I used to)
    • AHL : Tucson Roadrunners (hometown Tucson team)
    • Overseas Soccer: Corinthians (Brazil), World Cup (Brazil & Mexico)
    • NCAA: Arizona State Sun Devils alma mater.  BYU (dad's alma mater) .
    • Liga Mexican del Pacifico (Mexican winter league ball): Naranjeros de Hermosillo.
    • NBA: Phoenix Suns & Chicago Bulls (I was diehard during the Jordan years).

You're talking about European teams with 100 years of history in an entirely different sporting culture. I don't really have an issue with 'City Name FC' (though I do find it a little milquetoast). However I don't know how names like 'Sporting Kansas City' or 'Real Salt Lake' can be seen as anything other than forced appropriation of European football naming conventions in an attempt to somehow appear more legitimate, but ending up even less so. It feels like when McDonalds puts out some deluxe specialty burger with a fancy French Haute Cuisine sounding name and pretends its gourmet.

That is exactly what I am talking about.  It feels "forced".  The ultras with smoke bombs and flares with banners while singing also feels kind of forced.

I deeply dislike the euro-jacking of current MLS teams which inappropriately appropriate European club names (FC/SC is fine, City is fine,it only slightly bothers me that DC United wasn't formed as a club merger because "United" is a fairly "DC" name, but Real, Sporting and (jesus) Inter are awful), which is why I hope this logo never changes.

This is a prime reason why I can't take the MLS seriously because of the FC, Sporting, Real etc names.  Timbers, Sounders and Whitcaps are the only organic sounding names in the league.

I remember reading when the D'backs were being established, there was talk of putting them in the AL West so the Angels would be a division rival instead of the Dodgers. Which I guess could have worked fine, but that obviously never happened.

I mean deep down I want the Angels my second favorite team to remain in Southern California.  But if they were forced to leave the region in a bizzare circumstance, why not chase field if the Dbacks are so unhappy and decided to move to San Antonio or Portland LOL

    So to recap...

The Mariners are squawking about their corporately whored stadium.

The Diamondbacks want out of their corporately whored stadium.

The Rays want out of their corporately whored stadium, and now

The Angels want out of their stadium that's so old they can't whore it.

    So let's move 'em around...

    Los Angeles gets the Rays.

    Tampa gets the Mariners.

    Arizona gets the Angels.

    Seattle gets the Diamondbacks.

    Just for the lulz.

I would love a Dbacks for Angels swap.  Having the angels play in Phoenix would be awesome!

    • NFL: Oakland Raiders & Seattle Seahawks (lived in Wa state for awhile and love the latest uniform and colors), LA Rams (to show solidarity to the wife when my teams are not playing them).
    • MLB: AZ Dbacks (home team), Toronto Blue Jays (fell in love with the 92' & 93' World Series teams when i was a kid),Boston Red Sox (wife's team to show solidarity) and I for various reasons i kind of like the Astros and Cardinals.
    • NHL: Detroit Red Wings & Arizona Coyotes (home team worked at the arena for awhile - I have not been able to get into them since the rumors of moving and losing millions has come about, if they announced they were staying forever I would be willing to jump on board),
    • Overseas Soccer: Flamengo (Brazil), I have not been able to latch onto a European big club, World Cup (Brazil & Mexico)
    • NCAA: Boise State University (alum) & University of Arizona Wildcats (living in Arizona)
    • Liga Mexican del Pacifico (Mexican winter league ball): Yaquis de Obregon
    • Liga Norte de Mexico (Mexican summer league rookie ball): Tiburones de Puerto Penasco (I vacation quite frequently in this tiny mexican beach town just 4 hours from Tucson,AZ & met spouse here.)

No, the last Super Bowl to paint the 20's/50's was XLI in 06/07 with the Bears.  Nonetheless, I miss those days as well.  Why does the NFL have to be so lazy nowadays?

The super bowl fields have been a downer for awhile now.  It even seems like the quality of paint used is very cheap too.  After the first quarter it seems like the paint in the endzones wears off.  My fear is that one day the NFL wont even color the endzones for the super bowl and will just put woodmarks.
