Bobbie Bowden's Son-In-Law, Grandson Killed In Fla. Crash With Power Truck

POSTED: 12:26 pm EDT September 6, 2004

QUINCY, Fla. -- A son-in-law and grandson of Florida State football coach Bobbie Bowden have been killed in a rainy head-on collision in the Panhandle.

Officials say their car collided with a Texas utility truck heading into the state on Interstate-10, to help with Hurricane Frances recovery efforts. Troopers say 45-year-old John Madden and his teenage son Bowden Madden of Shalimar were killed instantly in the collision llast night.

Both vehicles veered across the highway median, with the Maddens colliding with the truck and a van.

I had heard about this and wondered if it was Bowden. I knew him and was friends with his girlfirend. He lived a few blocks aways from me and we went to the same school.
