Bucs sign OT Tucker to offer sheet

IRVING ? Torrin Tucker will be a Cowboy or a Buccaneer next year.

Tampa Bay signed the third-year offensive tackle to a two-year offer sheet on Thursday, giving the Cowboys seven days to match in order to keep him. Because he was an undrafted free agent in 2003, the Cowboys would not receive any compensation if they chose not to match the contract.

Tucker's agent, Jordan Woy, did not detail the Bucs' offer, but said it was for "a lot," more than the $712,000 tender the Cowboys made Tucker as a restricted free agent. If Tucker remains with the Cowboys, he would be a candidate to back up Flozell Adams at left tackle, but he could have a chance to win a starting job in Tampa Bay.

Tucker started 10 games last year at left tackle when Adams went down with a knee injury. In three years, he has started 24 games. He visited with Tampa Bay and Atlanta last week and other teams expressed interest, according to Woy.

"Torrin's looking forward to playing wherever he is," Woy said. "If it's Dallas, he'll be happy. If it's Tampa, he'll be happy. But I personally think Dallas will match. We'll see what happens."
