In essence, it comes down to the fact that if you put in a defensive replacement for the end of the game and he doesn't get an at-bat, that team loses by forfeit? I mean, say it's the bottom of the 4th inning and you're the home team with the lead. Your first batter is the number 2 batter in the order. A quick three-up, three-down inning followed by another means a replacement for the 8 or 9 hitters at the top of the 4th could, conceivably, not get an at-bat. If this happens, the game is forfeitted?If that's true, that's ridiculous. That's essentially a kid playing half the game. That would be a forefit, most of the time the subs are made at the end of the 3rd inning since they play 6 inning games, that way you don't get into problems like this.
