philly97flyer
Great work on this project! I appreciate the dedication and time you put into it Really like the Aces third, enitre Whalers set, Generals third (awesome font!), entire Barons set (although I would put a # on the front), Stars (), Jets home and road, entire Pirates set (Vancouver + Chicago + Barrie OHL = Stone Harbor!), entire Chiefs set, and Panthers third (WOW!).Any chance we can see the alternate and shoulder logos you used for this project, too?Props to using the orginal Tampa Bay letter font for the Somers Point set! Did you draw it out freehand? I had modified an existing Roger Clemente resource font for the TB font several years ago, since I couldn't find it anywhere and it's a fond favorite of mine. And speaking of fonts, what font did you use for the "VENTNOR" text on the front of the blue third jersey? I presume you used the NFL Oilers vintage font for the numbers, right?Certainly hope to see more of your work on here!I can get some bigger versions of logos up, the quality may not be the best because I do everything in powerpoint and paint. And yes, the Lightning font i did freehand based off Roger's regular Lightning font. The VENTNOR text believe it or not was freehand. That jersey is obviously a nod to the original Penguins jersey from 67. The number font is, infact, the vintage Houston Oilers font with a dropshadow. Thanks again for the compliments, the response Ive gotten so far definately surpassed what I expected.
cjzilligen
First thing I noticed were the gradients for Long Beach. Looks pretty cool, but that would be hard to replicate on a real jersey. Dribbble | Twitter | Facebook | Portfolio

philly97flyer
Because some of you asked, here is the reasoning behind all of the designs/affiliations:Atlantic City Gamblers- The gambling correlation is obvious here. Decided on the red, black and gold color scheme because it fit the casino theme well. Decided on Ottawa for affiliation because of the color match. Corny, I know, but its my fantasy league and thats how it is haha.Ocean City Sharks- I thought Sharks was a perfect name for a team playing in Ocean City. Colors, logos, and affiliation all speak for themselves.Somers Point Lightning- This is actually the name of a very successful dek(street) hockey program in that town, so I figured Id keep the tradition alove. Struggled for a while to find a decent Lightning logo, so I figured it was appropriate to mirror the NHL team's look here. Also threw in the original Lightning font because it was always a favorite of mine (never knew why they got away from it in the first place).Ventnor Penguins- Needed affiliation here, and I guess I figured "V-Pens" would be a pretty cool nickname. The original pre-edge jerseys here mirrored the Pens 90's 3rd jerseys, which was cool, but wanted to modernize the look when i EDGE'd everything.Margate Stampede- The town landmark is a giant elephant structure named 'Lucy', hence the elephant logo and Stampede name. I realize its the U of Alabama's logo, but this was one of my original teams and I never had the heart to change it.Seaside Rangers- Seaside Heights is a very big New York vacation spot, so I figured having the Rangers team here made sense. Tried to keep the Rangers look in tact and even threw in the Hartford Wolfpack navy's as the 3rd jersey.Brigantine Bears- Another original team from 5 years ago. Have gone through as many logo/color changes as the Canucks have through the years. I figured the Bears-Bruins relation worked well here, and thought the Boston 3rd jersey, with some tweaks, worked best. Really love the 3rd jersey here and the B as the crest is the same B found in the Bruins logo.Long Beach Island Bulldogs- An original team, at the time, was the northern-most team in the league, so that is the reason for Devils affiliation. Always loved the Hamilton Bulldogs logo, so basically just recolored it and away I went. Dont know why I originally used the gradients, but its stuck all the way through today.Absecon Ducks- Ill get the original "mighty" jerseys up for you all to see, because they were cool (3rd jersey was the old Wild Wing). The Jerseys I have now are really close to what they have now, and I wanted to focus on the D crest. The third jersey is a combination of ideas using the Boston U template, and the Mighty Ducks movie style logo/wordmark with a modern twist. I believe the Duck I used in the logo was from a concept I saw on here (let me know who it was, I will give credit)Barnegat Lights- This was a no brainer. The Barnegat Lighthouse is a Jersey Shore landmark. The lighthouse correlation worked well with an Islanders affiliation. The main logo looks crappy and old, but its like that intentionally to go with the vintage Islander jerseys. The modern version of the logo works well with the navy 3rd jersey.Beach Haven Whalers- Needed a Carolina affiliate, so I put them here. Beach Haven Hurricanes may have sounded cool, but I really wanted a Whaler team in the league so I went that way. Also thought the most recent Whalers color scheme worked best, except the green being more prominent than navy. The logo is a combination of the NHL and WHA Whalers logos.Atlantic City Aces- One of the newer teams. I thought having the other AC team being blue based (kind of like LA Dodgers/Angels you see?) was a good idea. And what better team to rival Ottawa's affiliate than the Leafs. Figured I could make a basic looking spade to mirror the basic looking Leaf as the logo. Went vintage with the 3rd jersey with a more detailed spade (like the more detailed leaf used on Toronto's third) and I thought that worked well too. I also thought AC, being the leagues biggest city, could handle 2 teams.Lakewood Barons- Dont know why, but Lakewood Barons kind of just flows. The Reds font worked well here, and the shoulder logo is the old Oklahoma City Blazers B. The head-to-toe red look made it ideal for Detroit affiliation. Third jersey coming soon.Toms River Chiefs- I thought the name flowed. I also saw potential in taking the Spokane Chiefs logo and making it into a TR. Didnt want to use the actual Canadiens primary jerseys here, because in my opinion, only one team should wear those, so I went with something similar.Rumson Blues- This is the newest team. St. Louis needed affiliation, so I went with it. The logo is based off an old x-line Blues hat logo. The jerseys mirror the vintage St. Louis jerseys, with the 3rd as a color reversal of the current St. Louis home jerseys. The alternate logo from the mid-90's was brought back because I think it works well as a crest.Sea Isle Gulls- Kind of a play on the word 'seagulls', which are found all over the Jersey Shore. Really liked the Israel national team logo, so I made it work here. Also used the old San Diego Gulls wordmark. The Florida 3rd jersey fit in perfectly here, and I thought a vintage style Gull fit the jersey style well.Stone Harbor Pirates- Think Pirates is a good name for a Stone Harbor team. This is another original team, borrowing the East Carolina U logo. The colors mirror the 80's Canucks colors. The vintage Blackhawk style 3rd jersey was enough to merit the affiliation.Avalon Admirals- The names work well together. Went with a vintage ECHL style logo, but in modern Buffalo Sabres colors/jerseys. I think the white jersey is close to what youll see the Sabres trot out next season. To me, a team named the Admirals needs those colors to work.Wildwood Wave- The name flows well here. The logo is part of the Wildwoods tourism wordmark/logo, but with my colors plugged into it. Since Wildwood is a big vacation spot for people from Philly, the Flyers affiliation worked well here. Obviously, the jerseys are based off the Flyers jerseys. The vintage-style 3rd jersey originally had the same logo, but I figured Id dumb it down a little to go with the retro theme.North Wildwood Stars- Saw a golden oppurtunity here to go with a North Stars style uniform set, with the current Dallas Stars gold. Kept the green helmets and 3 star pants because that was always a favorite of mine as a kid. 3rd jersey is based off current Dallas black jersey. The green also works well here because of the strong Irish contingency in North Wildwood.Wildwood Crest Condors- The Condor is a prominent ride on the Wildwood boardwalk, so I thought that was a good name to go with here. The Maroon resembles the original color of the Avalanche jerseys in 96. The jerseys obviously mirror the current Avs 3rd jerseys, but with a unique color scheme. The 3rd jersey pattern is based off the Avs home and away jerseys. The logo is a modified Philadelphia Eagles logo.Cape May Colonials- Cape May is loaded with colonial history and arcitecture, so the name was an easy one. Also saw this as an oppurtunity to mirror what the Capitals have. Third jersey is a navy, modern version of the vintage Caps jerseys. Decided to change it up and go with town name instead of team name like the home and away jerseys.Rio Grande Express- There is a restaurant in Rio Grande called RioStation, and its been around forever, so some kind of train name worked best here. The original colors were purple and black, making it the Kings affiliate. Ive since phased out the purple into just silver and black, mirroring the current Kings 3rd jerseys.Strathmere Spartans- This is another name that flowed well. Its an original, which explains the borrowing of another college logo. Edmonton needed an affiliate, so their jerseys were based off the Oilers EDGE jerseys. Third jersey and logo are based off San Jose State jerseys (Puckguy needs credit here).Anglesea Aeros- Name flows well. Also happens to be the name of Minnesota's AHL affiliate, so that worked here. Tried to base this off the Wild set because it was always a favorite of mine. Another section of Wildwood with a heavy Irish presence, so again, the green fits.West Wildwood Panthers- Needed a Florida affiliate. Jersey are a combination of original Florida jerseys and the EDGE crap they have now. Liked the red as the primary color. Always thought the Panthers numbers could use an extra yellow outline, so I did that here. The primary logo is a little different, which looks better in my opinion. The shoulder logo is the primary logo with the wordmark underneath. The 3rd jersey looks awesome. I remember seeing something of the sorts floating around on a concept here, but I took it in my own direction and ran with it.Longport Lumberjacks- The name works well here. Figured the Johnny Canuck logo worked well for a Lumberjack, so the affiliation is obvious. Made the 3rd jersey feel like a retro version of the current home jersey.Smithville Jets- Needed a Phoenix affiliate, so, like the Whalers, I wanted to bring an old NHL/WHA name back. Basis for the jerseys are the Phoenix 3rd's. The logo comes from one of the many Jets concepts Ive seen, and serves as a nice update to the original Jets NHL logo. Went retro with the 3rd jersey. Home uniform originally had red helmets, but I thought better of it.Egg Harbor Generals- I thought Generals was a good name for a BlueJackets affiliate. Primary logo based off of the Oshawa Generals logo. Home and away jerseys are similar to BlueJackets jerseys. Third jersey logo is from the old Kitchener Rangers Memorial Cup jerseys.Hamilton Tigers- The name is an obvious nod to the old NHL team. Thought a recolored Nashville 3rd jersey logo worked well here, and with the old rumors of a possible Predators move to Hamilton, Ontario, the affiliation worked well here. Was able to make a good wordmark from the Preds as well. Jerseys are similar to what Nashville has now. Went with the yellow instead of black for home because the black just worked better for the 3rd jersey.
crashcarson15
Yeah, figured that Atlantic City Gamblers third logo was based off the DC logo. Still nice though.
