UtahMan126
Hey guys,So I've been learning the statistical package "R"as part of my studies (it's used quite a bit in biology) and have been playing around with some sports stats in it. I was able to whip this up in my spare time today:Basically, it's the 2011 average points for of every D1A football school arranged by median. It's pretty cool to be able to visualize the data like this. I was wondering if anybody else on here is into this kind of stuff?
mjrbaseball
Could you please explain the symbols in the chart? (The bars, the black stripes, the dashed lines up and down, and the circles.) Thanks.
UtahMan126
Sure. The bars (colored) represent the middle two quarters of the data points, the dashed lines represent the top and bottom quarters, the black line in the middle represents the median and the circles represent outlying points (points that would skew the data if they were counted in one of the quarters). Hope this helps.
