  1. In the '70s, two gas stations adopted similar logos almost at the same time. (Neither is used today.) Add to that Agway feed mills:
  2. Not being a football fan, I couldn't say, but I do watch "MLB Central" every morning on MLB Network.
  3. Does anyone know the font used by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders? Their wordmark appears to be an italicized version of it, but I am looking for the base font that they seem to use on everything, from ballpark signage to ads to scorecards to uniform numbers. Thanks so much.
  4. Even without names and logos, the XFL is already merchandising. Who is going to buy this stuff when it will be obsolete when the names are announced? (Some items are available in a selection of colors. Not necessarily team colors.)
  5. Th Angels aren't actually moving into the Dodgers territory because they're already there, but do the Dodgers have anything to say about the Angels' choice of site. This example is unrealistic, but say the Angels decided to put a new ballpark in Griffith Park. That's less than two miles from Dodger Stadium. Could the Dodgers block such a move?
  6. Much the same as MLB did with the Expos, except the whole business was concluded in a single off-season rather than spanning three years.
  7. I count records the way I think they should be counted, not the way someone (even the league) tells me to. The '01-'02 Orioles are part of the Yankees. The old Cleveland Browns are the Ravens, and the new Cleveland Browns are an expansion team. The records of the Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Brooklyn Nets and San Antonio Spurs count their ABA time as much as their NBA time, and indeed so do the records of defunct ABA teams. As do the BAA, the NBL, AAFC, the three earlier AFLs, the Federal League, and the National Association. As you said, it's just sports; I can count it the way I want. As the joke goes, If you call a tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have? Four. Calling a tail a leg does not make it one.
  8. The Athletics' colors were red and blue for the first 62 years of their history. It wasn't until Charlie Finley changed the colors in 1963 that green and gold appeared.
  9. But in doing so, do we not have to take cultural considerations into account? Obviously we would not have perpetuated the Atlanta Crackers.
  10. The BIG3 basketball league would be a nice inclusion. It is into its third season, and has a broadcast contract with CBS, so it has some legitimacy.
  11. I was not aware of this until tonight's game started, but apparently several dozen minor league teams are playing selected games under Latinx names. Tonight the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are playing as the "Vejigantes", wearing light blue jerseys with red sleeves and yellow lettering/numbers, and white pants. They even have a "new" logo, which is even being used on the TV graphics. The story about the RailRiders participation is here. According to the announcers on tonight's game, teams only do it for home games. They said tonight's opponent, the Durham Bulls, play as the "Toros" in their version. I wonder if anyone has images from other MiLB teams in the Copa de la DiversiΓ³n.
  12. A suggestion for MontrΓ©al: I was looking for something alliterative, and I came up with 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒙 𝒅𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆́𝒂𝒍*. Then I saw your color selections, and I modified it to 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒙 π‘Ήπ’π’–π’ˆπ’†π’” 𝒅𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆́𝒂𝒍†, which might be too long. * - Hammers † - Red Hammers
  13. This thread is all about businesses that went under, right?
  14. A similar situation could happen again later this season, also involving the Yankees, of course dependent on pitching rotations and injuries, etc. When the Yankees visit the Dodgers on August 23-24-25, if Hyun-Jin Ryu pitches to Aaron Judge, it will be the first 99 vs. 99 ever.
  15. The New York Yankees use three different versions of the interlocking NY insignia (from left to right), cap, home jersey, and print version.
  16. Not Little League World Series, just Little World Series. It used to be a series for the championship of AAA Minor League Baseball. In 1952, the Rochester Red Wings of the International League (Cardinals) defeated the Kansas City Blues of the American Association (Yankees), 4 games to 3.
  17. My personal ring: Elk Lake High School Pennsylvania basketball state champions 1977
  18. Draw a slightly larger circle around the first one. Click on the larger circle with the text tool. Then you can type along that circular path.
  19. First, make sure the "hole" part is in the front and the main outline is in the back. Also, be sure they are not grouped with each other or with anything else. Select both the hole and the main outline. Click "Object", "Compound Path", "Make". That should do it.
  20. For those of you who have been asking for field templates, they are finally here. Just go to http://mrudolf.tripod.com/fields for vector graphics of 16 different fields. Available are: * baseball * football (NFL, NCAA, CFL and Arena) * basketball (NBA, NCAA and international) * hockey * soccer * field hockey * lacrosse * tennis * softball * volleyball * curling They are all to the same scale, so you could lay them atop one another if you are designing a multi-sport facility. (Caution: although you can put a tennis court in a hockey rink and it will fit, you can not put a soccer field on a volleyball court. Just won't work. ) Enjoy. Michael
