That never stopped the NBA or NFL from loading more teams into the LA market than should reasonably be there.

Because the New York and Los Angeles markets are large enough that they can handle two teams. Thats why MLB, NFL, MLS, NBA have two clubs for those markets. The NHL has three in the New York market, which I honestly think is overkill but its working. Southern California has the Dodgers, and Angels  and even the Padres about 2 and half hours away in San Diego. Putting a fourth club in SoCal would be oversaturation of the market. There are also other markets in the US and Canada that deserve and could support a MLB club than adding a third club to Los Angeles.

The issue with Los Angeles in the NFL is that nobody in LA wanted the Chargers. They have embraced the Rams as they previously played in the market for years and they wanted the Raiders to return. Had the Raiders moved to LA instead of the Chargers both clubs would have thrived in LA and we could have seen the Chargers either stay in San Diego or head for Las Vegas.

  2. It seems that the Pacific Coast League is slowly moving everything near the central United States rather than the Pacific coast. New Orleans seems to be the only PCL club that would fit the bill for the Southern League. (Cant imagine Nashville or Memphis dropping down). As for the Southern League Ive heard Chattanooga had been wanting a new ballpark. Havent heard anything regarding Tennessee Smokies but I do see Jackson as the likely candidate.

Meanwhile the collegiate Northwoods League appears to be closer to adding every Wisconsin town, another Wisconsin town to the circuit as Waukesha looks to build a new ballpark in time for the 2019 season. With Kokomo Jackrabbits and St Croix RiverHounds already set to join next season this would give the Northwoods League 23 clubs for next year, 11 of which are in Wisconsin (Eau Claire, La Crosse, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Kenosha, Mequon, Madison, Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids, Hudson and Waukesha). The new ballpark in Waukesha, a Milwaukee suburb, are to be built less than 20 miles from a new Franklin, WI ballpark being built for a new independent American Association club for next season. Meanwhile in Beloit, it looks like they may be close to getting a new ballpark built to replace their current ballpark which is not in MiLB standards. Wisconsin must really love baseball.

    This is bad.

    Colorado Springs Happy Campers

The Happy Campers celebrates Colorado Springs’ positive attitude and our love of nature, camping and all things outdoors.

    Colorado Springs Lamb Chops

The largest and highest quality lamb in the world, the Lamb Chops is a nod to the World Famous Colorado Lamb. We’ve got the chops!

    Colorado Springs Punchy Pikas

A small but fierce critter that calls Pikes Peak home, known for its iconic forceful bark.

    Colorado Springs Throttle Jockeys

Aim high! The Throttle Jockeys is a tribute to our brave pilots who train and call Colorado Springs home.

    Rocky Mountain Oysters

It’s a classic Minor League Baseball name in the making, this original cowboy fare has already been made famous at Colorado fairs, festivals and baseball games.

Throttle Jockeys has my vote. Who would name their team after an animal testicle?

there have been serious rumblings about Kansas City (currently home to the Missouri Mavericks) becoming the new home of a St. Louis affiliated AHL team.

Those rumblings were from last season. The Mavericks owners did change the name of the team to the Kansas City Mavericks but is committed to their home in nearby Independence. The Chicago Wolves primary affiliate this year was Vegas while St Louis (previously with Chicago) still supplied players to the Wolves. St Louis signed a five year deal with the San Antonio Rampage (owned by the Spurs) beginning in 2018-19 with no intention for relocating to Kansas City.

The ECHL I can see in a few years going back to its old footprint of east coast and midwest teams. The league has been recently moving into former AHL markets in the east (Adirondack, Maine, Manchester, Norfolk, St. John's and Worcester).

  5. I'm a visual learner, so here's a quick representation of everything that's transpired so far.

When a team has moved, they are grayed out in their old conference and appear with their color in the new conference.

To my knowledge, Hawaii and TCU have not finalized their moves, but are expected to soon.

As an FYI, you forgot Buffalo in the MAC but otherwise it looks right.

Not to mention the additions of Texas State-San Marcos and Texas-San Antonio to the WAC (Provided there is a WAC left after the MWC raids it to oblivion).

As well as South Alabama who will join the Sun Belt for football in 2013

  6. I am the very model of a modern major conference

I've quite a perfect radius, diameter, circumference

I know all of my members whether Catholic or secular

I'll name them alphabetically in manners most spectacular:

    Cincinnati sounds deceptively Mediterranean

In Hartford there plays UConn and likewise they're not Canadian

DePaul is nominally part but cannot ever win a game

In Washington is Georgetown where Pat Ewing is their claim to fame

Use three beats to say "Louisville" or else the rhythm goes to hell

And there's Marquette who still don't know just what they want to call themselves

Though Notre Dame's athletics still just are not what they used to be

At least they're not in Pittsburgh where Dave Wannstedt runs the football team

In Providence, Rhode Island they do not produce too many pros

At Rutgers they are known for having several nappy-headed hos

St. John's once had some crazy-looking sublimated uniforms

And Seton Hall is where the Pirates come at you in waves and swarms

South Florida's in Tampa which is really not that south at all

At Syracuse the roof inflates like a balloon or basketball

Then take the Main Line out to Villanova, hope the ride's not long

Then go to West Virginia while your toothless sister sucks your dong

So there you have a round sixteen but TCU just spoiled that

They're all the way in Texas, and they surely wear retarded hats

But rednecks they may be our fair Big East is full of tolerance,

That's why we are the model of a modern major conference.

:notworthy: I think I just pissed myself laughing!

  7. Im always against these pointless realignment posts but here is mine. I dont care about what school is a powerhouse. I dont care about independents, they shouldnt exist. I do not take BCS or a playoff into consideration. This alignment is meant to ease travel for the school, student athletes and the fans.
