As far as Prop 457, without that tax we lose 1/3 of both of our Police Force and Firefighters and face a depression in the city with or without the Coyotes. Yes the Coyotes and the NHL with the $25 Million a year that have screwed the city of Glendale and the city of Glendale screwing themselves in the long run. But the tax will help the budget and the people no matter if there is a tenant at the Jobing.

Don't think we will be seeing any more of herafter next Tuesday. She's down 25 points frher own election.

Glendale will be fine if we lose the Coyotes. Especially Westgate, we have a new outlet mall next door that should bring in jobs and cash. Plus if the casino is built, that should bring in more money towards the Westgate City Center. The only thing that worries me is if Prop 457 does go through. 1/3 of all police officers and firefighters will be cut, no more festivals that could bring in cash and the 2 of the 3 libraries with the Primary library being closed 5 out of the 7 days. Reason why we Scruggs is the outgoing mayor. We have Manny Cruz and Jerry Weiers as the mayoral candidates of Glendale and already killing each other and how much they would cut in budget. Both seem wrong imo as they really haven't brought anything to the table that would fix the city.

I have also read that the WAC is talking to Grand Canyon University in Phoenix about bringing their basketball, baseball and soccer team for the 2014 or 2015 season.

My question is why would the Mountain West Conference play their Championship Game at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona? You do know that the stadium is in Arizona State Territory.

Whats more amazing is there are more people who are complaining about the building of a WinCo on the Eastside of Glendale than the whole Coyotes debacle. Well they are building the store on a stud farm that's been there for 60 years.

To wonder why I'm moving to Tempe this year, Glendale has been my home for the last 25 or so years, but this Klown Kouncil is ruining the city. No Libraries, schools are being cut of their funds and Police officers are being laid off or have to transfer to other cities. Really sad day how a team can both morally and fically ruin what used to be a great city.

At this point BigMac12 could do a better job as Mayor of Klownsdale. Scruggs is a great lady but :censored:ty Mayor!

Westgate is a nice area to go to if you are wanting to get away on a Saturday night, of course there is Tempe/Mill and Downtown Phoenix, but it is a good place to go to. Not defending the team, but the area is a booming place on the weekends.

Not true on either point in certain cases. While football controls the discussion in college athletics, men's basketball and academics both are a decent part of it for certain conferences (ACC for both, Big Ten for academics only, etc). Academics, pfft. You know, as much crap as SEC fans rightfully get for that S-E-C-S-E-C "I hope our rivals win because somehow it makes us better" chanting, the Big Ten is the most masturbatory conference in college sports. At least all that South-will-rise-again stuff terminates at the end of football season; Big Ten circle-jerking permeates every aspect of everything. F*** football, when's the next womens game in that sport? Arizona gymnastics meets begin on January 6th...... Will Monica Bisordi be making an appearance? Yeah, she'll be coming. Not Football Related, but I heard on the news this past weekend that Grand Canyon University was moving up to Division 1 next year in Basketball, with talks of them joining either the Sun Belt or WAC. Don't have a link though

Think about it like this, I never once said Boise State couldn't be part of the big boy program. I'm just telling you that without academics you can't have athletics and vice versa. This was what i'm trying to get at. Wow really admiral? Arizona State isn't just known to be a party school, but some of the best faculties for teachers, PR associates and journalism, not to mention Architecture. I'm making a point that what makes this go round is that schools value their academics more than they do their athletics, but to make things go clockwork is the fact the academics come first for so many schools than they do athletics.

But if i'm a parent looking for my child to go to a school and academics are everything, i'd at least want to go to a school where it has some high standards. Only %10 of the students go to the school for athletics in the first place. Alot of the money that is generated from football, basketball, football etc. eventually goes towards academics in a major way. It may sound like BS to you, but for the smaller schools in these conferences, they go towards academics more than they do athletics. Plus I do know that Boise State is in the Pac-10 when it comes to wrestling. Arizona State has a fine history of wrestling, I follow it. I am also very aware that UC Davis, UC Bakersfield, Cal Poly and Fullerton are part of the Wrestling outfit they call the Pac-10.

Oh no, not this condescending bullcrap. Thank you! It's not about academics, that's as much of a fraud as the idea of the "student athlete" in this day and age. It's about money. TCU's football budget is in the $20 million range, Boise's is in the $6 million range (and that's being generous). But yet it does have everything to do with academics. Conferences such as the Pacific-10(soon to be 12) and the Big Ten value their schools to be part of the academic forefront in this day and age.
