  1. This would make more sense (and couldn't be more obvious) for MWC divisions:

    Pacific

Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV

    Mountain

Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State, Wyoming

-But of course Boise wants to bitch because it prefers to play more of the west coast teams.

  2. For the sake of schools like Boise State and San Diego State that still have time to go crawling back to the leagues they came from, here's hoping the "Group of 7" vote to disband the conference and put and end to the travesty that is the Big East.

Back to the Mountain West. A tidy 12-team MWC with 2 divisions.

    Mountain

Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State, Wyoming

    Coastal

Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV

  3. So at this point I have to think Boise State and San Diego State defect back to the Big East as, somehow, it seems slightly more pathetic than the C-USA...

To help everyone out, here's how the "Group of Five" are looking in 2015...the EXCITEMENT.

C-USA (14) - Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Old Dominion, Rice, Southern Miss, Tulsa, UAB, UTEP, UTSA

Mountain West (10) - Air Force, Colorado State, Colorado State, New Mexico, UNLV, Wyoming, Fresno State, Nevada, Hawai'i, San Jose State

Sun Belt (9) - Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, LA-Lafayette, LA-Monroe, Troy, Texas State, South Alabama, Georgia State, WKU

Big East (13) - Cincinnati, UConn, South Florida, UCF, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Boise State, Navy, SDSU, East Carolina

Arkansas-Little Rock is in the Sun Belt but they don't play football

  4. Edit: Navy to the ACC is a hot rumor today. Obviously a Notre Dame push. If it is true, that is.

I'd consider adding Army too. Adding the east coast service academies would keep some of the "prestige" associated with the top-level academic institutions in the ACC, plus would give a presence (though muted) in both the NYC and Washington/Baltimore area markets. And of course, Army-Navy would be a conference game, adding more meaning to an already meaningful game.

Assuming you added Army/Navy and UConn/Louisville:

    Army

    Boston College

    UConn/Louisville

    Clemson

    Florida State

    NC State

    Syracuse

    Wake Forest

    Duke

    Georgia Tech

    Miami

    Navy

    North Carolina

    Pittsburgh

    Virginia

    Virginia Tech

    * Plus Notre Dame for all other sports than football.

That's not half-bad, honestly. The question is, would it allow them to compete with the B1G and Big 12 when all is said and done?

or until Florida State, Virginia Tech & Virginia leave :D

  5. The Big East becomes a basketball only conference again after all the football playing members disperse to different conferences. The Big East expands from 7 to 10 schools with the additions of Dayton, St. Louis and Xavier from the Atlantic-10.

    Perfect (Catholic) symmetry

5 Eastern schools: Georgetown, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall, Villanova

5 Midwest schools: Dayton, DePaul, Marquette, St. Louis, Xavier

  6. After the Kings relocate to Seattle the NBA goes back to 4 divisions instead of 6:

    Eastern Conference

    Atlantic Division

Boston, Brooklyn, Miami, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Washington, Toronto

    Central Division

Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indiana, Milwaukee

    Western Conference

    Pacific Division

Denver, Golden State, L.A. Clippers, L.A. Lakers, Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, Utah

    Midwest Division

Dallas, Houston, Memphis, Minnesota, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, San Antonio
