  1. Is this an alt or is it their new home? Because their website still features their green look for pretty much everything? Also while I'm not huge on the purple (like the green better), I have to say the logo on the cap is a huge upgrade over the previous(current) home logo cap which is just hideous. It was doubly a shame because it replaced this absolute beauty. Which is still available for sale from their website for only $10 for a 5950.
  2. Deadspin comes to the same conclusion as many have here. The denials are definitely very... telling. http://deadspin.com/report-says-coyotes-are-moving-to-vegas-but-nhl-calls-1715093618 As they say, someone is going to end up with egg on their face. And if I were a betting man I wouldn't bet on the Post being the ones cleaning uncooked omelet off themselves.
  3. Considering that this is the NHL, unusually strong language refuting it usually means that the story is probably near spot on.... That's my reaction as well. The harder they deny, the more likely it is to be true. Ladies and Gents, your Las Vegas Coyotes!
  4. San Diego Gulls have named former Toronto Marlies and Edmonton Oilers coach Dallas Eakins as their first head coach in the AHL era. http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2015/jun/26/san-diego-gulls-name-dallas-eakins-head-coach/
  5. Although the stone has finally fought back in this case. He may have finally wrung Glendale dry. I mean they're even exploring their options with regard to finding a new event manager before the court put its injunction in place. They seem to be expecting the 'Yotes to be leaving.
  6. They probably won't have many home games from late November to December too. NFR (rodeo) will boot them out around Thanksgiving for two weeks, their will be a NCAA holiday tournament to be booked and to end the year UFC come in on the last Saturday night. Are they demo'ing the MGM Grand Garden Arena once the new arena opens?
  7. Any news coming out of the AHL Meetings in Arizona? SD Gulls released their opening day date of October 10 (and it looks like the league overall opens October 9?), but haven't heard much else yet. Also doesn't look like there's any jersey leaks that I can see for the new teams as of yet from their meeting jerseys.
  8. It's happening... Expansion is coming is the message coming out of the meetings today. 2017 start date. https://twitter.com/Rachel__Nichols/status/613811176858877956
  9. Exactly. They haven't a clue as to what fans like and want. Of course, the shootout can be exciting, but if a game ends in a tie, no one's going to cry because there wasn't a true winner. Except the guy who posted directly above you and people like him. Like it of not, there is a subset of American fans that absolutely loathe the idea of ties.
  10. So wait, the NHL is talking expansion, while two of their franchises, particularly their Phoenix franchise, are floundering? Sounds about right for the NHL.
  11. It definitely is an older barn. Seems to have most in common with the Nassau Coliseum of the recent NHL arenas. That said, they've done a bit do clean it up in recent years. New seats were installed in the lower half of the lower bowl (frankly I find the old seats more comfortable to but to each their own). New "suites" were added on what had been the mid bowl concourse creating some luxury spaces for them to sell. They opened a new club under the main grandstand with a nice bar and lounge which also opens on to an even larger on ice suite in the northeast corner of the arena. They did a general cleanup in the rafters that was long overdue. As mentioned the Ducks are sending down their lightly used boards from Honda Center to replace the decades old ones in SD that the San Diego Sockers indoor soccer team has been using most recently. And of course the biggie is the new video board which replaces the barely working San Diego Clippers vintage one. And for fans they've done a good job of expanding the food and beverage options in recent years to the point that the offerings are more impressive than anything I saw at say Yankee Stadium over this past weekend. That said it's still old school but intimate. And between Chilis, Phil's BBQ, Pieology, the Habit, etc... there are plenty of places to eat and get a drink before games too.
  12. San Diego Gulls announced further upgrades to the old San Diego Sports Arena before the season starts in addition to the new pseudo suites AEG installed, the new club area, and the new boards the Gulls are bringing down from Honda Center when the Ducks get new ones this off season. They'll be installing a new video board to replace what I believe is the Clippers old board from back in the 70's. Here's what the new beauty will look like.
  13. NHL all but admitted that something along those lines will happen if Glendale wins.
  14. The Sharks aren't going anywhere with their arena control, attendance and new long term lease. But if they want the Barracudas please take them right now. They could play at Key Arena. Excuse you, sir. It's Barracuda. Da. Give respect to a great sports brand of our times. Not a chance. I will not succumb to their corporate shilling.

  16. The whole idea has been a cluster. Why the Barracudas are playing at the Sharks arena, and on the same days no less, is beyond me. I get that it saves them having to hire staff for extra game days, but the burden it places on their home ice and arena staff to keep the place up for 2 teams simultaneously same day is just ridiculous. Then again the whole idea of putting the AHL team in the same city as the NHL team was absurd too.
  17. Wonder if it was the Glendale situation that led to this...
  18. Yeah that doesn't make any sense. I mean I get the Pacific playing less games, but how does part of the Pacific division play more than the other teams?
  19. Request for a TRO has been filed. They've also filed for expedited discovery and for "several hundred million" in damages. If they are granted the TRO business as usual will be the order of the day until the court decides the case.
  20. Just... I can't even... She's not a resident of Glendale, it's not her tax money that's being stolen out of her wallet to pay for her team. That's the best part about all this. Coyotes fans are up in arms, but I've yet to hear from one whose actually as Glendale resident. They're all from the east side and Phoenix proper and are all pissed a city they don't contribute to is finally turning the tap off.
  21. Indian tribes if I'm not mistaken. San Diego has a few that are in the same vein with Viejas Arena and Valley View Casino Center (also both tribal funded names, with the latter just being freaking confusing).
  22. Yeah and these days 20 years old is when you start rumbling for a new venue. We've seen it in several places already. It's becoming a disturbing trend. One I wish cities would balk at. Teams like the Red Sox have shown that it's complete bunk that teams "need" new venues. If the owners were willing to maintain and upgrade their current hopes they continue to be more than adequate. But cities keep falling for it. And as soon as a few do, the rest are subjected to the familiar refrain, "but city XXX built their team a new venue with all these new amenities, so now we need the same..."
  23. More likely will be this used as a motivation for a new NBA/NHL arena downtown.
  24. Looks like the NHL expects Glendale to just bend over and ask for another... http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=770457&navid=nhl:topheads Hopefully Glendale surprises them. Yotes fans are of course in full on blame Glendale mode. Nevermind this lease deal has been a disaster for Glendale.
  25. LOL, that would be just vintage Glendale. Though here's hoping they finally grow some balls and either get a good deal or tell the Coyotes to GTFO. Either way I'd say it's better than 50/50 the team leaves. The team is not going to sit by and take a worse deal than they have particularly with their own losses reportedly mounting too. http://deadspin.com/glendale-to-vote-on-canceling-coyotes-arena-deal-1710383805
