The Long Island Lizards changed their name to New York Lizards while playing at Hofstra

They also played games at Icahn Stadium in NYC. That's what precipitated the name change.

I think this was their plan, at least for this season before setting out for a full time home sites in the coming seasons. A lot of people also assumed New York was gonna be at Shuart Stadium in Hempstead and California at PayPal Park in San Jose, but it looks like they settled on Albany and San Diego instead. They also had Philly in Chester instead of Villanova, and Boston at Foxborough instead of at Harvard.

Training camp is being held in Albany once again. I don't understand why people always believe if a team is called New York, it's always downstate in the City. If the team were named Long Island, then Hofstra would be the home stadium.

  3. The only complaints coming from the drivers and crew chiefs were about the timing of telling everyone that the race was being shortened.

The Australian Supercars are what this generation of Cup car is based on, so it was not a major step for SVG to overcome.

And there's a butthurt DBC personality who needs to just be quiet.

Didnt the IHL Albany Choppers fold as well midthru in 1990-91 I think.....

As did the Schenectady Chiefs (1981) and Troy Slapshots (1986) of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League, meaning all three of the Albany-Schenectady-Troy media market cities had teams that never made it through a season, but Glens Falls, with the Adirondack Red Wings, Ice Hawks, Frostbite, Phantoms, Flames, and Thunder haven't.

Agreed. Did the Reyna's think this would get USSF to just push Gregg out the door and it'd go away that they were involved? What happens if the next coach tells Gio to take a seat?

Danielle Reyna -“As part of that conversation, I told Earnie that I thought it was especially unfair that Gio, who had apologized for acting immaturely about his playing time, was still being dragged through the mud when Gregg had asked for and received forgiveness for doing something so much worse at the same age. Without going into detail, the statements from yesterday significantly minimize the abuse on the night in question. Rosalind Berhalter was my roommate, teammate and best friend, and I supported her through the trauma that followed. It took a long time for me to forgive and accept Gregg afterward, but I worked hard to give him grace, and ultimately made both of them and their kids a huge part of my family’s life. I would have wanted and expected him to give the same grace to Gio. This is why the current situation is so very hurtful and hard.”

    - "I don't like that my son had to sit on the bench because his coach was kicking people in the shins at his age! I said I have moved on ffrom this, but now I remember this and I'm telling everyone I know about it". " Is this the true definition of a Karen?

I've been reading on social media how this has made it impossible for Berhalter to stay with the Men's Team. Has anyone thought of how this had damaged Gio? Holy Crap! I've seen helicopter parents in academia and in youth sports, but this is the topper! WOW!

  6. Several spotters were screaming that there was rain at the tri-oval and there's at least one fan video of it raining there as the cars were in the backstretch. The Scott Miller interview was disingenuous at the very least. They knew rain was falling at the start-finish line, just didn't want to throw it.

So you're telling me, with how small Knoxville is...Fox's camera crew didn't get any footage of Jessica Freisen's flip?

They missed Brett Moffit's Wall Crawl as well.

The announce crew were in Charlotte and it was like the C team was in Knoxville, without any spotters!

Daniel Suarez became the 5th foreign born (and first from Mexico) driver to win a Cup race. And he pretty much dominated, this wasn't a fluky (or an "Alex Bowman", as Kyle Busch put it) win, he was the pacemaker for well over half the race. It's the first time since 2014 that the 99 visited Victory Lane, also at Sonoma.

All of NASCAR is off this weekend, before all 3 series descend upon Nashville. It's also the last broadcast for FOX, at least for this season. They'll be back for the Great American Race, like they usually do.

The trucks are in Knoxville IA this weekend.
