IMO, I don't think we will see any more ACC defectors until the Maryland suit is settled. I do think that will be sooner than later. The ACC mucked up the language in that thing. I bet it will be reduced to 20 to 24mil.

The ACC and Big12 will battle for the last spot at the table. I got to say, I like the Big12's chances.
-
IMO Big12 really wants their championship game. They also want Florida. They will get FSU if they can. Even if that means a CCG that will make them millions more at Jerry World. The SEC doesn't have any problems getting extra teams in the BCS.

GT would push Notre Dame more than UVA ever could. ND and GT have a relationship.

In regards to the Pac 12
Brett McMurphy @McMurphyESPNPac 12's Larry Scott: "At this stage, I see no reason to go beyond 12 teams." If they did he said Pac-12 would look at Boise, SDSU
So I guess take any of the academic concerns the Pac 12 would have in getting to 14/16 and shoot them out of a cannon into the Pacific Ocean. Also the absurdity of the Pac 12 raiding the Big East would just be the most conference realignment thing to happen in conference realignment.
"Will look at Boise St and San Diego St" translates to "we're desperate to add teams and we're not sure we can get all of or any of the Oklahoma/Texas 4."
I am hoping that translates to, "We think we wont be able poach the Big12 because they are about to add FSU." Fingers crossed.

Monday will be an interesting day. GT and UVA to the Big10 is starting to get some serious legs. We will see how serious in a couple of days.

If I were the Big XII and I were going to take an ACC team that had orange in their colors, Miami would third on the list of three.
Recruiting standpoint: FSU gets you the SoFla market
TV stand point: FSU gets you the SoFla market
Miami has attendance issues even when they're not in the NCAA's cross hairs. It just doesn't make sense to me.
I think they are getting by on two things. To make FSU feel at home in the Big12. Also, Miami still brings in ratings. Strange, I know. I can see Fox wanting them.
Miami's also about to get carpet bombed by the NCAA. I'm not sure Florida State will want to bring along Miami after that.
They wont get it as bad as people think. No way they get it worse than Penn St.

Anyone from the DC area know how credible Kevin Jones is? He seems dead set that GT and UVA will be Big10 bound come Monday.
-
Do you think the B1G will create 4 divisons if they expand to 16? Or just keep the Leaders and Legends divisions?
I think a pod system has been the goal since Nebraska.
-
I see it. The Big10 wants markets. They took Rutgers for NYC. They took Maryland for DC/Baltimore. They would love Atlanta. GT don't give a crap about being on an island. They want in the Academics Sports Club.

This is an interesting tweet from a 247 guy.
Sources are indicating that the # B1G has approved # GT as its 15th member. Stay tuned... @ CFravel247 @ Clemson247
TIFWIW but Jeff Ermann of 247 sports was the first to break Maryland and Rutgers. He has been saying that GT has been fighting for a spot and the Big10 is listening.

FSU needs a buddy to bolt with them. I am starting to think it will be Georgia Tech.
http://www.azcentral...conference.html
It's official, Grand Canyon University to the WAC for all sports beginning next year.
Well, at least ASU will have a new tuneup game vs a D1 school that's just down the road...
Wait... Do they even have a football team? This whole thing is just shenanigans.
They don't have a football team. This whole conference realignment is just ridiculous. What has become of major college athletics?
Capitalism takes no prisoners.

I think Maryland getting out of the 50mil buyout will decide a lot when it comes to ACC stability.

Tulane to the Big East old Conference USA.
That's what the Big East has become. Conference USA featuring Temple.
Exactly. Especially with ECU joining. The ACC is becoming the old Big East.
Edit: Navy to the ACC is a hot rumor today. Obviously a Notre Dame push. If it is true, that is.
-
Tulane to the Big East. ECU for football only.
-
Legally, Maryland violated their state's open records law two weeks ago.
Violating rules and laws is old hat to universities when it comes to football.

Sorry, there is no vote going on. Just discussion. So says a Clemson and FSU guy for 247 sports. The FSU guy is tame and usually doesn't jump the gun. Good sign for anti ACC guys. I am chalking my lack of reading to my bourbon soaked weekend. Depression soaking from FSU. Then joy soaking from the Jags.

If thats true expect V-Tech to the SEC rumors to become more prevalent.
Yup....If it is true. That is the fun about all of this. A lot of wacky rumors get thrown around. The fun begins when one actually sticks. There is always one every year it seems.
-
Early morning rumor. UVA is having their B1G vote today.

I don't see Florida State going to the SEC. If the Big XII makes it through all of this and the ACC does not, I think FSU and Clemson can be penciled in for the Big XII, with Georgia Tech and North Carolina shortly there after.
I also think they will land in the Big12. I do think the SEC is more possible than people think. It wasn't that long ago they got invited.
Yeah but this isn't your daddy's conference expansion. There are new rules, there are new players, there are new forces controlling the moves. I think Florida State could be a possibility to the SEC, but I think a number of other things must fall through before it happens. Most of all, I don't think Florida State wants to be in the SEC. I think that they think they can compete, but I think they think they can compete BETTER in the Big XII. Let's face it, FSU has been picked by a lot of experts to either be in the BCS Championship Game or be a top 5 team the last 2-3 years, and they have fallen short of the expectations.
And yet their ESPN games outdraw ABC competition. FSU still is a top draw.

I wish someone could step in and centralize some of this musical chairs crap, but the problem is that if the NCAA tried, everyone would just quit the NCAA. Bunch of feudal lords and their vassals, minus the v.
Some say the Big 4 are expanding to break away from the NCAA. Play by their own rules.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. Not today, anyway. Not enough leaks. GT to the Big10 would produce more media chatter, IMO. I still say everyone waits on the Maryland suit. If things go Maryland's way, the flood gates will open.
