  1. NC State and VT to the SEC may happen very soon. Internet fodder of course. But decent people are saying it.

FSU and Clemson to the Big 12? looking more and more.

All depends on the Common Wealth of Virginia. They want VT and Virginia to stay in the same conference... and its up to the Common Wealth as to what conference/s those 2 schools join. Virginia is an AAU school, which the BIG 10 values just as much, if not more, than how many households the BTN gets in to. A school will not be considered for expansion unless they are a member of the AAU. If the BIG 10 is on board, I would be looking for Virginia to join the BIG 10 and VT and NC State to join the SEC.

If one goes the the SEC and one goes to the Big 10, Virginia will be happy. They just dont want anyone getting left behind.

  2. The Big12/SEC deal does make it a little more attractive for the Texas/OU monster to stay. I don't think they will reach full stability until they get that southern foothold with strong southern football schools. Clemson, FSU, Louisville, and GT/Miami would make Texas want to stay. Any university would rather play on east time rather than west time. Plus, with those schools you strengthen the SEC bond just started. The SEC is a good friend to have. Now if the Big 12 stays at 10 through all of this.......

  3. So Georgia Tech shows up in some Big Ten rumors.

Anybody want to take a stab at naming something more quixotic than the Big Ten trying to establish a presence in Atlanta?

Miami is in there too. Wackiness a plenty.

Hell, grab North Carolina and Miami and just double down on the whole "postseason ineligible" thing.

Lol, be careful what you wish for. They have been mentioned too. The B1G will go to 16 sooner rather than later.

  4. A lot may happen in the next week or so. Been calling this for a long time on here. Traditionalist called me crazy.

At least one Conference had to make a move that was objectively insane to pull this off. We weren't wrong.

That's my point. I saw the insane behavior coming. NCAA football has been insane for years. Just in different ways. Still, the craziest of American sports.

  5. From what I remember, the Virginia Legislature wouldn't oppose Virginia and Virginia Tech splitting up as much if one were to join the SEC and the other to join the Big Ten.

Supposedly, if they were to expand again, the SEC would target NC State first. NC State is in a Texas A&M-like situation, where they would love to get out of the large shadow of the #1 state school and create their own identity...history be damned.

That is what I think too. As I said, FSU will be their choice if the NC schools stand strong. That said, I wouldn't mind if Clemson GT and FSU bolted for the Big 12 to help the fun rivalry with the SEC. That would make the SEC and Big 12 bunk buddies in a lot of states.

  6. You're not going to get any new markets by going to a state you already have a team in. Texas A&M and Missouri both worked because they were the first SEC team in their state.

That is why I/they said if the NC prizes dont leave. VT will be 15. If you can't get a new market worth a damn, you go after TV ratings. FSU gets eyeballs.

  7. Take it for what it is worth but there are some local rumblings that the SEC could take FSU if things line up right. Depends if the NC prizes stand strong with each other.

SEC instituted a rule that they would not admit a school from a state of a current conference school.

That is a rumor. I mean, kind of a silly rule, wouldn't you say? Why have a special rule? If you don't like a team from a certain state, don't vote them in. Why throw extra security on that with a rule? What are they afraid of?

And what if everyone does want FSU in? They gonna say, "Sorry, i know everyone wants them in but rules are rules. Our hands are tied."

  8. Dont think this makes FSU happy in the ACC. They voted against the buyout for a reason.

Florida State's not moving. Unless y'all got 50 million dollars to blow, it's the ACC.

Getting out of buyouts is easy. FSU's president called it "punitive" and said a good businessman never puts himself in something he can't get out of. Hell, the two new ACC teams got their buyout reduced. Even got to come over a year early.

Huh? We had to pay more (I think we paid $10M to get in 2013 either instead of or on top of the $5M after an agreement) to get into the ACC early.

Also, I don't think the $50M part is getting to you. That's two years of athletic revenue you're talking about there, plus the fact that it's a public school means anything outside of athletic money isn't going to fly over well. I mean, yeah there's still the idea of FSU jumping ship, but it's looking way harder to pull that off the longer this goes, plus I'm sure FSU could try to get their way again with TV contract re-renegotiations on the way with ND coming in.

$50 million can be easily picked up by the new conference the school is entering and the school's generous donating alumni/supporters.

If you follow the money trail, the SEC funded TCU and West Virginia to move to the Big XII.....

Yup. The SEC would like a strong Big 12.
