  1. What? You could not be more wrong. I'll give you a little lesson. There are two things that are really important for league stability. attendance and viewership. If you have 3 teams in any league in the US averaging over 70,000 fans a game, you are looking at your new tier 1 league. Those teams already making more money than any MLS team. They're going to afford to bring in the big stars. And if there are 70 thousand people going to 3 different teams a year, there is viewership interest there. And networks like ESPN will pounce. It doesn't matter if the closest team to California is in Alabama. If three teams are averaging over 70,000 a game, you are looking at your new number one league. That ridiculous that comment.
  2. Laugh all you want but I know im ahead on this one. 10 years from now you will see articles upon articles about how Florida runs soccer. And just like my Jags prediction, I'm going to be here years later telling you I told you so because I got nothing else better to do.
  3. The NASL is safe as the 2nd tier for one big reason. The have a hold of the strongest soccer hotbed in the US. The state of Florida. That hotbed is getting hotter. Until they lose those three successful teams, the other leagues below them will never touch them. Even if they have double the clubs of the NASL.
  4. Of course the rams will. He has the money to do it.
  5. There is a guy that's been in Jax radio for years. He is also a Rays fan and knows some of the higher ups in the organization. He says the best kept secret in sports is happening right now. He claims the owner is negotiating with Montreal right now. Can't tell you if he is full of it or not, but certainly the scenario is very possible
  6. Yup, I agree. I strongly feel the Raiders will be playing in Kroenkes new stadium with the Rams.
  7. owners meeting is this week. You should get a pretty good idea of what's going on here shortly. I heard a couple of interesting interviews yesterday on the radio. The rams are gone. Pencil it in. No mystery. They are LA bound. its not official but like the guy from St Louis said what more do you need? How many more signs do you need? Anyone else saying otherwise are in total denial. The interest comes from the Raiders vs the Chargers. From the sounds of the San Diego guy, the city really wants to work with the Chargers. If I were a betting man I would say Raiders and rams in LA and San Diego stays put.
  8. No offense, but that second paragraph is naive. I'd guess 95 percent of athletes in revenue sports aren't in school to learn. They're on campus to play their sport and hopefully turn pro.If anything, they learn the opposite. Whether they know it or not, they're at the school to learn. You learn much more than just classwork when at college. Yup. It's "Grown-up training," if nothing else. College helps you learn that you're not really that big a deal. And yes, this applies to athletes once they realize they ain't getting drafted, or that sports is over. Unless you're Jameis Winston. That guy might as well be called Peter Pan, because he's never growin' up.Yet we have major schools putting half of the team in a class where all they have to do is spell their name. Half in the class cheated. Those kids are there to make the major programs money. Just look at the recent UNC scandal. An academic prestigious school. Major college football is shady. The players are not seen the same as Joe Blow in English 101. Ideally you may want it to be like your second paragraph, but reality is far from it. Tom Osbourne certainly pulled some shady stuff. So has Auburn.
  9. I just started using this site on a phone a few months ago. Of course its different from the pc version. There is a check mark in the upper right corner of every post. I always assumed that was the "like" button. I was thinking about it and I hope that is not the report button. If so, I'm sorry for the silly reports. Clearly I meant to like them.
  10. I'm very happy Pitt brought back the cursive script. Now lets hope Florida will get rid of theirs. You have one of the coolest nicknames in sports, UF. Dress accordingly.
  11. The Jags draft hat has been fixed.
  12. Since it's probably lasted longer than 4 hours, you might wanna consult a doctor.I did. He prescribed 15 seconds of TCU's new unis. It went away fast.
  13. The argyle helmet stripe makes my pants feel tighter.
  14. Please make the brown the primary. One of my favs in the league, I think. It looks bonkers good with the orange pants.
  15. This is a sports logo site. Every unveiling deserves its own thread.
  16. It's fun to "Nelson" someone every now and then. Ha-Ha!
  17. You took it wrong. I came in peace. Just wanted to share a point of view.it's a message board. I'm here for discussion. I like talking to people with different points of view. It's a lot less boring. You can let your guard down a little.
  18. Goth, I see where you are coming from. I see how you can view the Jacksonville getting an MLS team talk as premature. Just to share my point of view, things like this is why I think this long shot could actually cross that finish line. This is the 4th attendance record broken in the last two or three years. You may be right. Interest could fall. There is also a good chance a hotbed is about to be discovered. Professional soccer popularity is a new thing in the states. We may have some undiscovered lands around here.
  19. If that is it, I'll allow it. My only complaint is the wordmark gives it a generic vibe, but pleased they kept the design tame. I hope brown is still the main jersey color.
  20. In the 80s and the early 2000s. Oh ok, cool thanks. The Reese's look. One of my all time favorites.
  21. Jacksonville defeated Edmonton 3-1 in their first ever game. It was a record crowd of 16,164. The most ever for a NASL match.
  22. as Khan said when he first got here, make the product better. Make the game day experience better. Don't scare people to go with blackouts. Make them want to go no matter what the team's record is. He spent his cash and he did that. 13th in the league in attendance and up 10 to 15 spots in the revenue. if you think the Jags are going somewhere, you are misinformed on the situations.
  23. Birmingham will never have a NFL team. Too much competition from Bama and Auburn.
