This is pretty funny as I am from Idaho ;)

Speaking of Idaho, new helmets this season!  But with the Big Sky moving all fall sports to the spring, we will have to wait until next year to see them in action.  Maybe new uniforms to go with these as well?

Idaho should dump the old gold and go with the athletic gold. Though I'm not sold on the grey facemask here. Feel like black would work better.

Small but important change for Utah. Pants stripe now continues straight down and doesnt make a sharp turn toward the back of the legs

    Perfect change for Utah.

This is the company that tackled Charlotte's jersey number changes. It almost looks like they just slapped a green layer on top of the existing gold/green number

As someone who's worked in a similar field of work, even just seeing two pics, they f'kn nailed it.

Interesting development at Michigan State. Possible BFBS uniform coming for the Spartans?

Or maybe the lighting is making the shell look darker?

It does look dark, but I think that it's lightning playing optical tricks on us.

Regarding the BC alternate, I thought the NCAA outlawed multi colored numbers (such as gradients, patterns, etc)?

    11. What are the rules about the contrast of jerseys and numbers? By rule each team must wear a jersey that has numbers that clearly contrast with the body of the jersey (Rule 1-4-5-b).

    • The number itself must clearly contrast, even if it has an outline or border.

    • The number should be clearly visible from a significant distance.

    • If there is any question as to whether the number and the jersey contrast, the jersey may not be worn.

This is what I found from a quick google search.

I'd say from those rules, it technically passes rule 1, but fails rule 2 IMO

Confirmed its the 1998 throwbacks but with the current aTm logo and plain white numbers rather than faux-screen printed numbers.

They aren't bad. I mean I feel like I'm nitpicking at this point, but I do miss the shoulder stripes already. And the font is a little bit of a head scratcher. They already had a font that matched the wordmark, and didn't have the dumb barbed wired accents. Overall, it feels like a push.

This is Fresno State though. They've always had a generic look, besides the side panels with Nike.

This last one isn't generic per se, but it was straight from the Nike catalog as opposed to having a bespoken set for themselves. And chrome doesn't really fit them either.

Yeah they needed to get away from the catalog looks. Painfully boring yes, but it's their shtick.

Could have brought back the drop shadow for something different, but I'm not the one designing the uniforms.

Missed a lot over the last few days, so I'll just put all my 2 cents in at once.

    RE: SEC

IF the SEC were to expand, I think they grab 2 of the following; Florida St, Miami, Clemson, UNC, Duke, Virginia, Texas, Oklahoma. No team would defect from the Big 10 and the SEC is too good to grab a Go5 team. This leaves only a few top football teams and elite b-ball ones.

    RE: Liberty

The University itself poisons any chance they have at getting into a conference. They'll just have to settle for being a discount BYU at best.

    RE: FCS  --> FBS

I don't know about any current FCS teams that could do it be successful, so I think the most likely one is Grand Canyon. They have made a tremendous investment into their programs and facilities lately and have explored adding football in the past. They are eerily similar to Liberty, just with less controversy. Both are large, relatively new, Evangelical Universities in or near a major metro area.

    RE: NDSU

There is a greater chance of the SuperSonics winning the NBA title this year then there is of NDSU joining the B10, ever. Keeping with the NBA references, I think the chances of them moving up to FBS are about the same as the Knicks winning the NBA title this year.

As an NDSU fan, I'm perfectly content with them staying where they are and I think they are too.

As for FBS down to FCS, I think San Jose State would/could be the next possible victim. I think I read somewhere that since the Mountain West expanded in the early 2010's, they're the only school that hasn't won a conference championship in anything so far. Not to mention they've been mediocre to bad in the same time period. Now would they drop down? Probably not.

I'm assuming Notre Dame will be the next UA casualty? Hopefully all 3 teams go with Nike and not Adidas.

Notre Dame football at the very least has been a much more competitive team in the last 5 years than Cal and UCLA.

I could also be reaching on this, but is it fair to say Notre Dame is a much bigger national brand than both Cal and UCLA?

How many of the new uniform elements since this redesign have been rolled back?

    • gold mask abandoned before reveal for garnet
    • garnet masks return to more traditional color
    • gold numbers on white jersey switched back to garnet
    • crossed helmet spears go back to separated
    • yellow shade of gold reverts back to more traditional vegas gold
    • gold numbers on garnet jersey swtich back to white

Going off memory I think the only elements that have now stuck are the slightly modified spears, number font and sleeve/neck patterns. Overall I think think this is a great example of nike overreaching on a pretty classic uniform and attempting to change elements that required zero touch. Personally I think the font change was the only improvement. Overall this effort should be graded out as a sold D which I believe would still put the design team on track to earn a degree at fsu. 😀

I think it was a case of "ooh we created this new pattern to go with everything, let's use it as much as possible". I think that they did a better job than a D, but they definitely over used the pattern. I'd have stuck it on the sleeves and called it good there.
