Figure I'd post this in the thread it should actually go in.  IMO these look too real to be fakes. Just hope they can... jazz them up a bit with some mountains or something.

I hope and pray that in 8 months time there are racks and racks of unsold black and yellow garbage...but I just know Utahans too well and as every parent outfits their 6 kids in "new and exciting!™" merch, I have no doubt the ownership will have their sales ammunition against those of us who wish better for our team.

  2. During the Olympics, America First Credit Union has been shilling their "redesigned" Jazz debit card and it is black and yellow with a shiny J-Note. So count me skeptical that the ASG logo is indicating a wider color palette for our awful, new identity.

I don't know if it's been brought up here yet, but the Jazz have a jersey schedule with little icons as part of their schedule.

Also, you can really get a sense for this new branding on that schedule page. I'm sure one of you font people can tell me what the font is, but it's really giving off a Cards Against Humanity vibe because it's the same font and colouring.

It's a classic font called "Billionaire Hubris sans-serif"

I interpret that as meaning things like a practice court or, say, arena decor or team corporate letterhead could maybe go black/white to "go with everything", rather than a hint toward the next rebrand. Having said that, this millennial tech CEO new guy that's in charge now seems like he's got real potential to do something galaxy-brain stupid to leave his mark on the team.

I'm gonna need a bigger sig

Regarding the Jazz news: I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I honestly would’ve rather taken my chances on the mashup uniform than keep the redrock around again. I’m just….done with that theme.

I just wanna know who in the FO loves that yellow jersey so much that we just can't seem to get rid of it. At least the red rock theme got two different swings.

  6. Just catching up with this thread, but I want to throw in that other conferences expanding to 16 does not guarantee it for the Big Ten and Pac-12.

In fact, they might be a step ahead of them in forming an "affiliated" 24-team superconference with existing members whose champions ultimately play in a Rose Bowl that feeds the national title game. Might be.

Those two conferences already hve a deal in place to crossoversome football games in a few years.

The Big Ten isn't adding Duke, UNC, etc. If this is about football, why would they? And it's been mentioned several times here that the Pac-12 has few obvious candidates, and certainly not 4. I don't think either conference will "settle" for anything other than a slam dunk. Nebraska was that. Notre Dame would be that, but I think they want to be elsewhere. They could have saved their Big East counterparts and could have turned it around quickly like the Big XII has.

I jokingly suggested this scenario earlier in the thread...but the longer this "will they/wont they" realignment drama goes on the more plausible it seems to become.

  7. Apparently Utah wants to end it's rivalry series with BYU.

Football Realignment: Death of Rivalries and Tradition

Utah is certainly in a tough spot when it comes to scheduling the local rivals going forward...and something's going to have to give.

Things were easy when there were 3 OOC games and BYU was a conference matchup.

A lot of the Holy War's meaning was lost the instant the Utes and Cougs found themselves separated. The PAC12 probably wont allow the game to be Utah's final game of the season. Moreover there will never be standing/title implications. Now with the looming addition of a BIG10 game to the 9 game conference slate...Utah has had to choose between it's fiercest rival or it's oldest rival (USU). Likely it will ditch both or go to a staggered schedule swapping them year-to-year.

Certainly a loss, but I'm not sure anyone would fault Utah for making the choices it's made so far.

  8. And Utah State and San Jose State are poised to join the Mountain West.

Methinks Idaho and New Mexico State might either move down to FCS or drop football altogether...

I gotta be honest, every time I see an Idaho home game on TV (mostly clips). It has the feel of watching an FCS game. Something about the Vandals seems like they don't belong at the highest division. I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's the success and popularity of Boise State that

makes them look minor in comparison.

They do play in the smallest stadium in FBS if I'm not mistaken.

I was about to say...it's the Kibbie Dome that makes them feel small-time.
