This makes me nervous. I remember they sold that concept for the original fan vote. I think I voted for Redtails back then.

Although I'm not a huge fan of the original look, I still have my original cap and inaugural game ticket stub.

The problem was the previous owner, as I have started many times, didn't do anything with the branding after it was revealed. I live 10 minutes from there and when I worked as an intern in 2015, I had to ask why they were named the Crushers. Some of the FULL TIME employees didn't know the history, and that's not right. The new owner is really great at what he does and he wants to reflect it in the branding. The staff is wonderful and they're on the same page almost every day.

I did like the branding when it came out, but when you see it often and learn the back story of why those logos were picked, they are not good. The current owner hated the interlocking LE. I didn't mind it in 2-D, but I never liked the 3-D effects on the logo and script. I'm excited for this branding considering I knew about it last season(being an intern and being close with the staff has its perks).

Incredible find! I love anything like that related to the late 70s/early 80s NBA, when it seemed like teams were going to relocate, merge or just go out of business every week.

I wish I could find an article I had from c.1982 which detailed the NBA's tentative plans around that time - amongst other things, it had the Nuggets & Jazz merging, Spurs moving to Miami and Cleveland, Indiana & Kansas City folding outright!

Now look at the Spurs and Cavs!!!

You mean they couldn't come up with something more related?

I'd see the grape thing a lot more if the logo wasn't a baseball player mid-swing. Probably a good thing they're changing it.

With the previous owner, it probably didn't cross his mind. Stomper is a key part to the organization and the current owner wouldn't change it. I can't wait to see the rebrand.

Is that what the recent cryptic post on their Facebook page is all about? I'll be working in the league this year, so I'm especially curious. The current set looks clean overall, but the primary is perhaps a tad generic.

What's the meaning behind "Crushers" in their instance, anyway?

Yes, that's what that post is about. When they started in 2009, the previous owner explained the name "Crushers". Northeast Ohio is known for its wineries and thus the Crushers name was born. It never was told after the press conference announcing the team and the current identity doesn't reflect anything in about being connected to the wines. Our current owner kept the logo set this year (since it was his first year with the team)  and he has invested into a new logo to reflect the connection with the vineyards. IMO,  I liked the logo when it came out, but it's dated. I'm looking forward to the rebrand of the team. What are you doing with the league and if you want to DM me that's fine.

i dont disagree with that, but to tell someone that their statement is incorrect, when the implication of their statement is accurate is a bit of a stretch.. every sport at every level other than D1 football is comprised of athletes receiving various forms of aid.. even "walk-ons" at every level are typically all receiving some sort of assistance..

i agree that, like this board, it's about the details, but to imply that everyone is wrong who says "D3 athletes don't get scholarships" (when they are clearly referring to athletic scholarships), is a bit of a stretch and overly nitpicky (and kinda sounds judgmental), imo..

I go to a DIII school and I'm a sport management major. When we talk about DIII, we say athletes don't get scholarships(obviously athletic scholarships). People who know DIII know this, but I wouldn't be surprised if more people don't know this. It's all in the language of how you speak. I have to clarify to people that athletes don't get athletic scholarships. People just assume every school gives out athletic scholarships to the best athletes when they don't.

So one of my close friends from New Orleans just posted an article about the name change on Facebook with the caption "I can't even say anything about this". And that's not even close to what I've read on the team's Facebook page already!

Social media is NOT being kind to Baby Cakes at all.

I like the name, it's a unique name, but I'm not a fan of the logos. Their main logo looks like a baby with a snake's body. Brandiose, IMO, missed the mark.

Wow, what a fantastic update. That (hornet?) is infinitely better than the one they have now :D It's always great to see new talent come to the boards. Welcome to the forums @InkPark (Thanks for the dribbble follow, your page is awesome ;)  )

It's a yellow jacket?!! Really good update!

It's a good logo for like a tournament but doesn't translate into a good uniform look. It's too horizontal.  I still like the look though.

The problem with this logo was that it was chosen by the previous owners children( I wish I was making this up). The previous owner was absent and ran the franchise into the ground and the new owner is very engaging with the fans and trying to build it back up. He's told me that he doesn't want to change the logo just to change it, he wants to keep the identity going and change it to reflect our back story.

They BETTER have purple in the color scheme...the team was named after wine crushers...

I'm surprised you know what are name is based off of. Most people in the Cleveland area don't even know why were named the Crushers!!

And I deleted one of the threads

But don't hijack a thread that designed for updating logos. If you want help, wait for replies on your thread or delete it and put the thread in the request section.
