So what is "enough", and why is minor league football expected to draw so many more people than other minor league sports? The league-wide attendance average for the AHL this past season was 5,920, and that was a record high. The top team, Cleveland, averaged 10,347. For baseball, the IL averaged 6,061 and the PCL averaged 5,762, with their top teams averaging 7,990 and 7,048 respectively.

So while Michigan's numbers could certainly be better, it seems pretty in line with minor league attendance numbers.

But this doesn't really consider itself or present itself as a "minor" league - not with national television packages, etc. It's somewhere between "pro" and "minor," so it demands higher numbers.

Looks good in action (tho not as good as blue socks). Still hope we actually see it on field this year.

I don't know. New unis always look better drawn, and at the reveal, than they do in action. And I didn't think they looked that good then, either.

The city of Houston had that color blue before the oilers existed.

    The oilers used it.

The oilers LEFT and took it with them.

The Texans are using the color for their city.

I don't know why people don't understand this.

How is this Houston's color before the Oilers? I'm not challenging, I'm just asking.

Don’t see what the big deal is with the UH jerseys. Iowa has worn the Steelers uniforms forever.

The Hawkeyes sought, and received, permission from the Steelers. This is the difference.

It's about a color that three NFL teams are currently sharing shades of. If this went to an actual court, the only question is, "How was the NFL injured by this"?

It's about this precise shade, used in combination with red, looking like the Oilers - which is very clear from that photo. How are they harmed? Another entity is making money off an image they own.

  6. As much as people hate it or think it's petty, if they don't defend the colors, then they lose them, and anyone can start selling merchandise without their approval.

This isn't about UH. It's about their property.

Were those Baltimore, Memphis, and St. Louis uniforms legit? It seems odd to me that teams that never came to fruition would have gone that far down the branding road.

They were. That Houndogs isn't anything like that fake Mountain Dew dog, and it's been around for awhile. I also would like to see the sheets for the other three.

People have also shown actual Stallions and Bombers unis that were made for unveiling just in case.

the "icy whites" circle jerk around this jersey is going to make me want to return my internet with receipt in hand

"circle jerk"... "in hand"... I see what you did there...

The appropriate context is the fact that an attendance of 31,000 is still excellent. That's far more important than the drop from the all-time record.

It would be a mistake to consider that huge attendance to be some kind of problem. To expect the team to set a new record every home game is not reasonable.

Not expecting them to set records each week, but also not expecting them to lose a fifth of their crowd, either.

Look, I'm hoping the league makes it. I was a fan of the previous XFLs and the USFLs (especially the 1980s version), and the AAF and whatever else you want. But I can't ignore a dropoff like that.

    Let's hope for the best.
