  1. Bumping the thread; I don't know why people are so negative to the name change because personally, I love the name. Sadly, the logos also have a bad rap as well. The Pelicans logo sest are some of the best in the 4 Major Professional Leagues of North America and they just scream New Orleans. These two logos are my favorites from the identity.

  2. STOP! JUST STOP! You are not doing anything you say you are. There's is no correlation between the crap you actually write and what you say it means. And where the hell did you come up with the Cowboys being in the NFC East because the NFL wants Cowboys vs Indians on Thanksgiving? It makes no sense. YOU make no sense. Geography is a factor, but not the end all in determining division alignments. Especially not in college as you seem to do where there are wa-ay too many other factors.

You aren't contributing anything valuable to this thread. You're uniting all of us only because of how dumbfounded we are by your meaningless posts.

Amen man. AMEN. I reported one his posts today too. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

    Amen as well.

  3. Boise State staying put in MWC:

    http://espn.go.com/c...nce-sources-say

That will be the move that will put the final nail in the BE's coffin. Boise did the right thing by staying and the move put the MWC into the position where the BE used to stand in.

    How so?

In 2013, the BE will still have an AQ spot in the BCS meanwhile the MWC will not.

In 2014, once the BCS is done and the playoff system is in place both the BE and MWC will be on equal footing in terms of opportunity to get into the "Access Bowls". Also, each will most likely have the same amount of annual TV revenue.

SDSU can leave, or rather not join, without paying an exit fee due to no teams west of the Rocky Mountains now with Boise State staying put. Apparently SMU and Houston are on the target list of the Mountain West, too. And Navy is evidently wavering on whether to join the Big East or not as well.

McCall made a good point, SDSU can leave at any time and not have to pay the exit fees. Also SMU and Houston can stay at C-USA and go to the MWC. That's why I think this move would end the BE.

  4. Here's my idea of how it could turn out. You have 8 conferences with 16 teams each. That means 128 teams, only one more FCS team (Appalachian St. in this case) would need to move up for this to work. The playoffs could work two different ways. You could have all 8 conference champions for a 8 team playoff, or you could add 8 at large bids to that and have a 16 team playoff.

The ACC kinda falls apart here with teams going to the SEC, Big Ten and Big XII. They get back to 16 by gaining some of the remaining big east schools and some C-USA schools. A few Sun Belt teams go to the C-USA while the others join the MAC.

First things first, why would Louisville and Southern Mississippi go to the Big XII? Louisville already has a commitment to the ACC and So. Miss should stay at C-USA. Secondly, The ACC wouldn't lose any teams to realignment just yet. Finally, Notre Dame would never join a conference. All criticism aside, there might be a few changes to be made and it would look plausible.

  5. The best line-up:

    Butler

    Creighton

    Dayton

    DePaul

    Marquette

    Georgetown

    Providence

    Seton Hall

    St. John's

    St. Louis

    Villanova

    Xavier

That is an insanely good conference right there.

I don't think we have the same idea of what an "insanely good conference" is.

Xavier, Creighton, Butler, and Georgetown in the same conference is really good. All the other teams are solid additions as well.

  6. The best line-up:

    Butler

    Creighton

    Dayton

    DePaul

    Marquette

    Georgetown

    Providence

    Seton Hall

    St. John's

    St. Louis

    Villanova

    Xavier

That is an insanely good conference right there.

For the sake of schools like Boise State and San Diego State that still have time to go crawling back to the leagues they came from, here's hoping the "Group of 7" vote to disband the conference and put and end to the travesty that is the Big East.

Back to the Mountain West. A tidy 12-team MWC with 2 divisions.

    Mountain

Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State, Wyoming

    Coastal

Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV

That is how I predict the MWC would be.

  7. ...here's a hug from all of us to you...it's not you sir it's our fault for not conforming to your reality, we will all try harder next time.

So why wouldn't the big XII grab Louisville and Pitt also since the ACC seems to be going down to the depths of cusa that would give them 14 with FSU and clemson. Two more and you could do some quadrant scheduling the old WAC-ky way. Va tech and vir woul be nice also. Could really set up an east/west division based on geography wouldn't that be crazy

Why would Louisville want to go to the Big XII? Louisville just fits better in the ACC geographically, culturally (basketball), and be in a conference that they have good competition and still have a chance to win it.

  8. Here is a tidbit on Barron's talk to FSU boosters today.

"He was very impressive and clearly focused on our academics. He did a great job. He did get one question on the ACC. He made it clear that there is a lot of nonsense on the boards and he called out the dude from WVU as being someone who is throwing out stories for his blog.

On the other hand, he made it clear that he studies all of this, he is in constant contact with "various presidents", and make no mistake - he is watching out for FSU and only FSU. To be blunt, he is all over this. Then he says cryptically that he thinks there will be changes. But he would say no more."

I'm telling you, the ACC is far from stable. I also don't think this is all a figment of a tweeter's imagination. Too much movement has been going on for us to continue to be oblivious to the master plan.

I really want FSU to stay so that the Big XII will collapse and enjoy the Louisville-FSU match-ups in the future. The "Dude" is just a WVU fan who is butt-hurt about Louisville's admittance to the ACC and how the ACC used academics to deny WVU from entering the conference. He's using rumors to get revenge on the ACC who didn't allow WVU and their "hillbillies" (How my fellow Cardinal fans call WVU fans) from entering the ACC. FSU is just better off staying in the ACC rather than risking their program's future in the Big XII.

  9. The main person behind the UVa/GT to B16 is a sports blogger for a TV station in DC with 500 Twitter followers trying to stir up crap and get more readers and followers. So far it has worked a bit as he is up to about 640.

He hasn't mentioned it since except to defend his source. This is just funny:

    @Mr_KevinJones

Source: Georiga Tech and UVA will announce decision to leave ACC by Monday. Will join Big 10

    @DavidGlennShow

@Mr_KevinJones that's a big story to break spelling one of the schools wrong, homey. Hope for your sake you're right but I doubt it.

    @Mr_KevinJones

@DavidGlennShow source too credible not to report it

If it has legs, he may have just broken it too early or he misunderstood his source. Could have been they're talking and he said they're joining.

A WVU fan might have created rumors. In all likelihood, UVA and GT aren't going to leave IMHO.

  10. Finally, Cards to the ACC! If only the ACC brings Cincinnati, then I will be truly happy. (dance)

If the ACC brings in Cincinnati, that's because the Conference is in the process of collapsing. Care to rethink that sentiment?

Hopefully the ACC isn't collapsing anytime soon. I thank Tom Jurich for getting us into a very good conference. Here's a great story on how Tom changed UofL athletics forever.

  11. I see Texas as the next domino to fall. Texas and another solid academic school like Kansas would give the Big Ten 16 teams and plunge realignemnt into chaos for one final time. I just don't see Virginia and UNC going to the Big Ten. No huge TV market!

Actually it would the decision of the ACC to pick Louisville or UConn. If the 'Ville goes to the ACC, FSU and Clemson is most likely to stay and the Big XII will get raided. If Connecticut is selected, FSU and Clemson will leave and the ACC would become the BE.

  12. Where the hell are we getting these BC to Big Ten ideas from? That's like.. the 12th most attractive team in the ACC for the Big Ten at this point. I don't care about the BAWSTON MAJAH MAWHKET, New England cares way less about college football than the NYC and DC markets for goodness sakes. BC hasn't done anything in football besides 2007 in the ACC, hasn't done anything in basketball since coming to the ACC, and although has hockey, the New England market's so divided between a bunch of college hockey schools that your BTN gain isn't going to be as large as down in the other two markets. Not to mention the Big Ten, Notre Dame aside, would much rather raid the ACC of the large, public, land-grant schools before a private school. That means your UVA, UNC, GT, and whatnot would be far above the list over BC.

The BC-(maybe) Duke-Miami (now that they're gonna get nuked)-Syracuse-Wake Forest combo's kinda stuck in the ACC regardless through all of the remaining realignment due to their private school status, for better or for worse.

How in the heck did BC wanted to get in the BIG? Where did you hear them McD29?

  13. Was reading online on all sorts of message boards and finding out that a majority of ACC fans want Louisville instead of UConn (Just to point out there). Still, it will be interesting what will happen to the conference.

As an ACC fan, it would make me feel better if you guys came.

    (Got any conference friends?)

Well, Pitt and Syracuse are going to be in the ACC next year. It would be great to play Wake Forest in football and basketball just like in the Orange Bowl in 2006. Adding UConn could be a huge mistake because it would cause FSU, Clemson and others to seek greener pastures.
