Booted out for two months for rodeos and college basketball? This sounds like a terrific place to have a Big Four franchise! Perhaps the NHL will be freethinking enough to also put a team in a city with no arena.
They probably won't have many home games from late November to December too. NFR (rodeo) will boot them out around Thanksgiving for two weeks, their will be a NCAA holiday tournament to be booked and to end the year UFC come in on the last Saturday night.Well at least I'm relatively certain the new Vegas club won't institute zip code blackouts on ticket purchases for visiting fans.

If I was GM of Winnipeg in that situation, I would draft him just for the hell of it.
Especially if a camera is permanently fixed on Shane Doan as he learns what subpar region he'll be uprooted to.A contraction draft would be fun.
And while I'm overjoyed with the result of the vote, this just means that, when the team moves, fans will bitch how they were "betrayed" and "screwed over" by the city, and how hockey in Phoenix totally would have worked if not for those selfish councillors.

Unlike all the other Redskins problems I can't pin this on Dan Snyder. I don't think he was even alive when Lombardi died. And yes it has been 24 years since the Redskins last won a super bowl.

I know Vince Lombardi isn't a player really but even as a part time (as in when the season starts) Redskins fan this just seems wrong.
If he had not died of cancer after coaching one year...and had gone on to win several Super Bowls with the Redskins, we may view it differently. Lombardi had full control of the team and stock in the team.
George Allen took over the team and went to the Super Bowl the year after, so it's quite possible that he would have built a legacy in D.C. also.

Duds indeed. Terrible.I'm getting a bit of a Hillsboro Hops vibe. But they do look nice.
On the other hand...the West Coast (collegiate summer) League's Kitsap BlueJackets (Bremerton, WA) new duds...

It's not even a name! Most minor hockey teams in my area have more imaginative names than that.It was actually "Le club de hockey junior de Montréal," which sounds nice. Better than the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

The name Montreal Juniors is so Q, too. "Ey, so we have dis junior 'ockey team in Montréal, so what should we call dem? Attends, I got it! Les Juniors de Montréal!"Travel subsidies killed them, IIRC.
I miss the Montreal Juniors. That was a nice identity. It was quasi-Maroons.

Couldn't agree more. I love that jersey.I don't know exactly how unpopular this opinion really is, but the McFarlane jersey is my favorite Oilers look of all-time...
I'm not saying the classic Oilers is bad. I just have a fondness for that particular uniform. It was a cool design, kind of how the Oilers would look if they were a 2000s expansion team.

Honestly, my problem with these unis wasn't the Fisherman, it was the jerseys themselves. If the Fisherman was in normal Isles colours on a traditional hockey sweater, it would have been a hit.
If the Islanders had used this 1997-98 style uni originally in 1995 without the Gorton's Fisherman logo in the middle, it would have been very well received and lasted a few years longer.

I always knew something bugged me about those sets.Roger Clemens and Andy Pettite while on HGHouston.
I just realized how brutal those front numbers were. Single-layer brick numbers right underneath a black, triple-underlined script? Even Clemens is noticing how bad it looks!

I'm really starting to like the Buccaneers unis. Change the number font and fix the helmet (normal-sized logo and no chrome, please) and they're a nice modern uniform.
