Ok but who are they coaching?
I'm seeing this comment all over the place...bunch of Veruca "I want it now" Salts is what pops into my brain. They will roll out information, patience is a virtue.

I'll take this logo over a wannabe USFL logo.
Gotta disagree, as far as I can tell, the USFL logo is a minor update of the original 80's league logo and is far superior to this new XFL one.

Fascinating, for sure. I watched a lot more CFL last year thanks to ESPN+ broadcasting most of the games in the U.S., and I was certainly curious, but mostly as a novelty. I found the three down thing particularly difficult to adjust to, and got frustrated by watching teams go two-and-out so often that I couldn't adjust to the rhythm of it.
I had a similar viewpoint a long, long time ago, but about 6 or so years ago went to Canada regularly for work and started watching. Took some adjustments but now I prefer the CFL game to the NFL. It's just flat out more exciting for me to watch and the last three minutes of a ton of games are so exciting and fun it's crazy.
On the flipside I've tried to watch various arena leagues so many times over the years but just can't bring myself to really like it that much.

Week 1 Lineup
The USFL will then showcase a tripleheader on Sunday, April 17, with the Houston Gamblers meeting the Michigan Panthers at noon ET, the Philadelphia Stars playing the New Orleans Breakers at 4 p.m. ET and the Tampa Bay Bandits battling the Pittsburgh Maulers at 8 p.m. ET.
Seriously, right after I just got my hand slapped for a non-logo related post in this thread from last June!?!?!?!?! You better duck.

You're assuming either of them wanted to be in this league. Did either of them even sign a contract with the league to be eligible for the draft? It's not like Kaepernick was sitting by his laptop with a house full of people waiting for his name to be called.
If Kaepernick actually wanted to play football anymore I think he could have done so, even if was in the latest XFL iteration to show that he still has the chops or with a NFL team. He made his money, made his stance and is done. As for Manziel, that dude is a dumpster fire and it's likely that any new league at this point doesn't want to touch him with a ten foot pole.

Cut from the CFL yesterday. XFL 2023 will be his next stop before Canton.
The biggest driving factor for Lynch being cut from the CFL is that he is not vaccinated and was unable to travel with the team for the playoffs due to Canadian air regulations.

I fully expect that if the USFL makes it long enough to expand then we'll see a similar thing happen out west by adding a "pod" of four teams to get to 12.
Arizona Wranglers, Denver Gold, Los Angeles Express, Oakland Invaders
Have three four team divisions (North, South, West) and the playoff format could have multiple options.
1) Top team from each division makes the playoffs, one wildcard.
2) Top two teams from each division make the playoffs, top two seeds have first round byes.
Then down the road if things last they could add the Central division and split into two conferences to get to 16 teams.

My favorite Gunslingers stories are, in no particular order: 1) Using house paint instead of special turf paint on the Alamo Stadium field to save money, which led to players getting skin infections; 2) team employees making up for missed paychecks by stealing and selling the folding chairs used to increase seating; and 3) this incompetent criminal skinflint of an owner turning out to be the pivotal person in getting the league aligned with Donald Trump's grand vision of fall football.
I’ve read, forget the book name…$1 League or something…anyway, players would essentially Cannonball Run style it to a bank an hour or so from San Antonio because that’s where they paychecks could be cashed. They all raced there because they knew from previous experience that only a certain number of checks would clear before the money was gone.

They pretty much killed it with the Panthers, but fell short in my opinion on the Breakers when it comes to the nostalgia factor. It's a solid look, but it pales in comparison to the vibe of the original in my opinion.

Everybody will be waiting with bated breath at 1 to see if Michigan does what they’re supposed to do.
Entire league sinks or swims with one helmet
Agreed on how critical it is to get the Panthers helmet right, but I'd say the Breakers helmet is equally as important.

Oakland definitely needs a change...that logo is very 80's dated.

The original is still one of my favorite all-time helmets.
Same, that and the Breakers helmet are just so iconic.

Honestly for me the starbust is better as a primary logo...I dunno what exactly it is, but the D with the pickaxe is just sort of generic.

I love the removal of the red and the overall color dynamic, but I'm just not feeling the tomahawk being completely horizontal. Feels to me like it should be at some sort of angle.

I mean, it's "real," in the sense that the past two seasons of The Spring League got primetime slots on FS1 and FS2, and the FXFL actually existed for a season or two or whatever. That doesn't mean it's worth your time or attention for anything more than a casual flip of the channel to the Birmingham Spring Scrimmage League on a night when the schedules for the other sports leagues are very light.
Obviously the attempt at another spring league isn't your cup of tea, but it is worth my attention and likely many others feel the same way I do.

One more for you before the Chicago reveal. Here are the new look New Jersey Generals. Some keys:
1. Return of the laurel leaf logo, but still with blue outlining (see USFL 2022 for inspiration).
2. Drop shadow numbers. with gold and blue outlines.
3. New secondary logo (too good to resist) now a patch on the chest.
4. Side panels morph into pant stripe with an "epaulette" concept (Tried it on shoulders, did not like it.)
5. New wordmark with state of NJ included for emphasis.
I love the addition of blue and the pant stripe, not a fan of the laurel leaf on the helmet though. It just looks too busy or cluttered.

The Gunslingers would’ve been the better choice to return. At least their comedy of errors was just football stuff!I'm guessing you've never read accounts of pay-day for the Gunslingers. Basically checks were written at a bank a ways away from the stadium and the players knew from past experience that there would only be a certain amount of money in that account to pay the players. So they'd essentially Cannonball Run their way to the bank to be the first so they'd get paid.

I may be in the minority, but I prefer the old uniform template.

This may be a weird question but is there any way you could send a few screen shots of what this league looks inside the program(DDPF21). I’d like to see what the team editor looked like. I’m pondering buying that game, or the 22 version for my XFL reboot.
You can download the demo for free to check it out.

While I prefer A myself, C has this vibe about it that looks like a natural evolution of the original logo, especially for the wordmark. B does absolutely nothing for me.

Guessing St. Louis and Portland got pushed to 1996?
Guessing you missed this part...
QuoteHere are the 3 together. I expect 3 more to come out this year, a modified version of the Thunder concept shown above, a blackout uniform for St. Louis, and a surprise one.
That Bandits uniform definitely has Glanville written all over it.

I found myself thinking the same thing and have to wonder who owns the rights to all the history, stats, old game footage, etc. Sure would be nice if they’d talk about the history, the players, etc. from the 80’s.
Overall though I found the football was pretty good and entertaining, I will tuning into more games today.
