I've followed this conversation and gotta say, while I agree with your take over the other dude, your delivery with all the masked cussing is atrocious. As a moderator here you are of course free to debate and give your viewpoints, but (in my opinion) it should be done with quite a bit more tact.

Ya know, I always thought the Gold might look good using a splash of the Denver Nugget "light blue" here and there.

I remember this game, fun to watch for a short while, but for me it's akin to ultimate, lacrosse and other similar "niche" kind of sports. They are fun to watch here and there because they are fast placed and such, but I just can't get into them over the long haul.

I understand the current iteration of the Maulers going to black and gold, but I don't care for it. That purple and orange is pretty unique in pro sports and stands out I think.

Anyway, just a quick postscript to say thanks for continually posting these, I've enjoyed the work and banter here alongside your website league updates.

Agree to disagree, I do indeed find it clever (you don't have to) and nobody I personally know found it distracting or make it hard to watch in any way at all.

Me and my friends are obviously in the minority, especially with the opinions around these parts, but we think the Roughnecks helmet is clever and different. We dig it.

I love the idea of moving the Blitz identity to Canton, if they get some decent attendance as a hub this season I think they'll be a strong contender to either get an expansion team or have one of the existing rebranded and call it home. However, while I understand the Ohio branding, I think that Canton Blitz rolls off the tongue a little better. 

I love what you did with all the secondary logos as well, so much so that I'd put that B on the Blitz helmet instead of the revised legacy version.

As a legacy USFL fan that graduated high school in 1986 and went to many Tampa Bay Bandits games back in the day I have a strong affinity for the team identities of the league. I watched at least some portion of almost every game in last season and did the same for the XFL reboot this season and am now moving between the two leagues until the XFL wraps up.

I gotta say that last season the lack of fans in the stadium for the USFL didn’t really bother me. I totally understand the reason behind the hubs, it makes sense, it’s a move to help the longevity of the league. Great thinking and a great idea…let’s make it last.

BUT…after watching, and more appropriately hearing, the XFL games this season the lack of fans and the crowd noise that goes along with that shines a giant beacon on the empty USFL stadiums. At this point I think they need to muddle through this season and if they don’t move all the teams to a home stadium next year it may just be the nail in the coffin.

Agreed, it makes total sense and if I was him I'd do the same thing. After all he is, hands down, THE BIGGEST name involved in this and just his name alone can potentially help draw extra eyes to the product. 

I simply don't understand the disdain and almost outrage I see from fans regarding his involvement in this fashion.

This right here has always been my bucket list setup...each minor league team associated with a nearby by NFC and AFC team. For example Tampa and Miami with a team in Orlando, Jacksonville and Atlanta in Birmingham, etc.

If he's the first-ever draft pick to "get arrive" (), then what is the point of having a draft at all? 

First off, it's obviously a typo or grammar error. My bet is that someone was trying to decide between "arrive" and "get signed" and just messed it up. We all make mistakes, let's let it slide shall we?

As for what's the significance? He's the first ever rookie to be drafted straight out of college and sign with the USFL, forgoing seeing where he might have been drafted by the NFL (if at all) or just being signed as a free agent to a NFL team. My guess is that since he's from such a small school, he assumes/knows he wouldn't have been drafted or get signed by the NFL so he's embracing his chance to play some pro football, get paid and hopefully play well and show he belongs at the next level.

I'm not super fond of the Memphis "speedy boat" logo, but I love the color scheme and the matte helmet.

Yes, I'm well aware of that, I am/was an OG fan going to many Tampa Bay Bandits games in the 80's. That being said, I did simplify my example for brevity and just trying to make a point about "what-ifs."

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. Perhaps they would have kept going, who knows, but the fact is they didn't. COVID happened, the league shut down and didn't finish a season, didn't crown a champion and didn't come back the next year.

We could play "what-if" all day long. Like if Trump hadn't come along in the original USFL and made the push towards the fall the USFL would still be around today and be a major spring league.

That's the thing...we never know what could have happened, only what did happen.

People are smarter than you think. They might be confused for a hot second, but anyone that has any ounce of curiosity and isn't already in the know about such things will Google what the deal is and quickly be educated on the smart business decisions they league is making to ensure longevity the best they can. The majority won't give a hoot about spring football anyway and will simply move along with their day.

I grew up in the Tampa area (been in Colorado for over 26 years) and still have many friends down there. You'd be shocked at how many people that live in Orlando and Tampa didn't have a clue they had a team in the AAF or XFL 2.0 even when they were playing locally. Those of us spring football nerds are definitely in the minority, even among football diehards.

Name the first spring league in a long, long time to complete a season, crown a champion and come back for a second season? Yup, the USFL. Everything else has failed.

Many reasons have  already been said in other responses to you, but it baffles me how folks can't understand the business end of these things. But essentially it's play in namesake cities from day one, lose a buttload of cash and probably fold or have a plan such as this one, slowly spread things out, stay afloat, make money and keep playing year after year.

Personally as a football fan I'll take the slow and steady approach to actually have a league that has a good chance of sticking around.
