Keep in mind the NFL states that the alternate shell can only be paired with an alternate jersey, throwback or color rush. They currently to my knowledge do not have a throwback ready and available to go with "original option" have no alternate white jersey.

The white jersey-white pants-white socks combo will count as color rush. It’s not their regular road look (they only wore it once last season while wearing contrasting pants or socks in every other appearance of the away jersey) and the Packers already proved that “color rush” can just be the normal away jersey but the pants and socks are both white. I’ll buy a mini helmet and eat it when it drops if that’s not the case.

Given that that will be the case (cause im so damn sure about it) it opens up some questions and more potential loopholes over how often the helmet can be worn. I haven’t seen a rule yet saying specifically how many times you’re allowed to wear the alt *helmet* specifically (unless I missed that??). The limitations on alternate usage, as far as I’m aware, apply solely to the jersey. Most alt helmets (like the Texans, Saints, and Commies so far) will be limited naturally by the infrequency of the jersey that theyre paired with. But could the Packers have worn their white color rush in every away game if they wanted to, given the jersey is their normal one, and the pants and socks also just happen to be sitting there in the style guide? What about the Bengals helmets, then? Could they get sneaky by pulling it out as frequently as they’d like since there’s no rule saying they can’t wear all white week in and week out as long as they’re wearing one of their two regular jerseys?

UNLESS I missed some verbiage along the way that says that a specifically designated “color rush” uniform is subject to the same rules as alt jerseys, in which case forget all of that. Still think it’s gonna be a white with black stripes helmet with their normal all-white look, though.

I got some weird second hand information out of a friend's contact at the Bengals. The alternate helmets are white and she says "they're sexy and they can rig them so they can wear them with a white throwback" and to that I only had more questions. The Bengals have never used a white helmet so how could they "rig" them to use as a throwback? Unless it's the helmet from this logo??????? A huge long shot there. Most likely they're white with black stripes and she misunderstood what someone meant about wearing them with a throwback. Take that with an elephant sized grain of salt.

You’d be surprised how many layfolk will call any alternate a “throwback.” Like they’re so far removed from our specific brain damage that they don’t even consider for a second what “throwing back” means, just heard it used to describe an alt one time and from then on think it’s synonymous with “different uniform.” Huge pet peeve.

Anyways, the tea leaves are telling me that it’s a white lid with black tiger stripes that will be worn exclusively with their white jersey, white pants, and white socks, and it will be unveiled at *checks watch* lets say 10am tomorrow morning.

Odd question, if the browns are going to use a helmet as a logo, why not a current style? PS I don’t see the rabbit either.

Because these recent models will come and go as more research is done on head injuries, but the VSR4 will always look like The football helmet.

Here's how you make a sleeve logo work on a football jersey.,,

Just repeating the helmet logo is lazy.

I’ll offer these beauts as well.

I’ll also offer that all of these were released in the 90s (except the ‘85 Eagles and ‘00 Ravens). A simple yet excellent motif, the secondary logo on the sleeve, one of my favorite designs overall (see my favorite uniform of all time, the old Jags). Simply repeating the helmet logo 10 inches away? Yawn. Repeating the helmet logo 6 inches away and blown up x3? Barf.

  5. Lol you cannot seriously convince me that the Bledsoe-era unis weren’t the worst in football for the time that they were used, maybe barely edged out by the Broncos by the time they moved on to Brady-era.

  6. I miss the days when an alt could just be throwing on an different colored jersey by surprise while changing nothing else to get the fans excited and players energized for one particularly premium matchup.

The Rams have announced they will not be debuting a new uniform this year.

    https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2022/06/13/rams-uniform-release-2022-news-update/

"Rams COO Kevin Demoff said on the 11 Personnel podcast Monday that the team won’t be releasing a new uniform this year. Demoff cited supply chain issues, which have had a worldwide impact, as a major reason for the lack of a fourth jersey being released this offseason.

He also said that the league’s new helmet rule, which allows teams to wear a secondary helmet, was another reason the team wants to wait before releasing another jersey. He said the team is targeting 2023 for its next uniform release, but that could get pushed back to 2024.

“There’s no reason to introduce a new uniform just for the sake of introducing a new uniform,” Demoff said.

Huh Id missed this. Following through on the announcement two years ago that you would be introducing a new uniform this year seems like good enough reason, but oh well. Sucks to have at least a B-tier CCSLC event yanked from the calendar.

With the way uniform design has gone I'd rather them get it so close the first time (and it looks like theyre going to evaluate the logo scenario) vs completely miss the redesign and have to go back to the board. The Jets current green helmets sans corporate stale logo are some of the best in the league. Their current template with a few tweaks, like the angular 80s logo, could really 10/10 nail it (think the Rams going from bone to the new white unis they have, the Colts and Niners changing the wordmarks and fonts, changes like those didn't need the 5 year uniform period either).

The 49ers had to wait five years after they introduced the non-cut off two stripe jerseys, and the Colts had been wearing the same thing for like 20 years.

  9. Uhh well it would be nice if they went back to white facemasks but other than that those are hardly different than what they’re currently wearing. Might be a weird roundabout way of getting to the fact that black helmets are nigh.

  10. Media day is such a curious indicator for these mix and match type teams. Last year, the Rams media day looks were all-blue and all-bone color rush. They proceeded to wear both uniforms only one time apiece during that season, though they at least correctly indicated what the home and away jerseys were. God forbid they’re actually still too stubborn to commit to full-chestedly admitting to their bone boner, and they simply want to showcase what they wore when they won the Super Bowl (since, you know, they designated them as their “official” away look for the playoffs to quietly admit to said boner).

In general Im starting to feel like the Rams have intended from the start for their looks to be fluid from year to year, like with their progressively unveiling new alts and playing coy with their regular season combos (i.e. inexplicably swearing by the blue over bone last year). Maybe they’ll wear blue pants more this year, maybe they’ll lean more into their actually good looks that got them through the playoffs last year.

Another interesting media day was the 2020 Jags, who wore teal over black for the occasion despite their “official” primary being all-black. They then went on to wear the “official” look only twice during the regular season before announcing the teal primary at the earliest convenience the next offseason. Part of me wonders if they already knew they were making the switch at that time but had to wait a year due to some rule that we don’t see.

The same rule could be a roadblock for the Rams trying to switch designations this season, *unless* they already knew about and filed for the switch a year ago when the whites were revealed, and they just had to suffer through one more year of bone while at least being allowed to designate the new aways for the playoffs. We’ll probably know more around mid-July when their next alt drops.

Oh, and the Panthers always do their media day in blue jerseys, which consistently means nothing.

The stripes on the pants in these examples make a HUGE difference from that Commanders look. Even if they’re not yellow pants, having some yellow on them — as opposed to the white leotard look — gives it more balance.

The stripes help somewhat, but we can’t act like these aren’t vastly inferior to their yellow-pantsed progeny. Not *every* uniform from the 60s is something that teams should be trying to work back to.

Also I find it really funny that both of those uniforms have the exact same design (yellow northwestern stripe on a dark jersey, thin dark-yellow-dark braisher stripe on white pants).

  12. Looks exactly like one of those awful mix n match college uniforms where they shoehorn in white pieces for no reason.

I was kinda gunning for the Commies to go all white for the home opener at least so I could see the Jags in teal for an extra game, but if this holds we’re definitely seeing all white from their side, which makes the game a total bust.

  13. Given that we’ve never seen a team stray from their “official” home/away look in the hall of fame game, Im banking on this matchup right here.

Really not too horrid, just very greyscale. Almost like the Raiders lack of color makes the Jags tealless aways look less out of place. Regardless, just one more year of these unis for the Jags (bring me teal numbers, baby🤞🤞)

  14. Did somebody say predictions? This’ll be a doozie assuming the same schizo who picked the Jags unis last year is still in the building.

Also, very confused by any support for the 9ers two-stripes?? Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott, Steve Young, Jerry Rice. This is what the 49ers look like. They spent over a decade as a very good looking uniform that was just missing something, and now theyre in the untouchable tier at the very top of the league. What more could you want?

  16. Nothing productive to add, but I just wanna get out ahead of the haters and say that I LOVE when someone posts a bunch of pics of football uniforms in one post on here. I just like looking at them cause duh its my obsession (*our* obsession??) and never understood the grumps who shoot down the occurrence as if its clogging the thread or something. Like they dont appreciate the opportunity just to gaze for a sec. Quoted posts collapse now so its not like thats an issue anymore. I just like looking at these stupid clothes.
