Now let's talk about something relevant:
The Rays players aren't too thrilled about this time and place split either.
Just sowing the seeds for a full time move to Montreal...
note that none of them objected to the team moving but they just objected to a split season...
Quote“When you have a market like this where you have a team of our caliber and we’re second to last in attendance, it’s problematic,’’ said Pham, a free agent in 2022. “I can understand if we’re losing, but we’re not. Back to back seasons, we’re on a pace for 90 or more wins. Our owner is doing everything like the (recent special) $2 tickets. … This is a way to provide the franchise with more revenue to go out and get more players. So I understand their reasons behind it.’’
Quote“I don’t really care where I play as long as we have a good crowd and it’s fun,’’ he said. “I’m a bigger fan of pick one or the other – whatever y’all want to do, I just want to play. Wherever I play at, that’s for them to decide. … But a split thing, that’s tough.’’

If the Rays do relocate to Montreal, MLB would most likely leave them in the AL East to rival Toronto.
MLB is probably salivating at the idea of 18 games a season of Toronto-Montreal...
It would probably never touch the intensity of Maple Leafs-Canadians but hey

OK after reading the article about the Montreal people and the email from the Rays (thanks @Survival79 for posting) I think it's pretty clear that they do not actually intend to split seasons between Montreal and Tampa Bay but they have to act like they do in order to make one of the two cities bite on a stadium.
I would be very interested to see how they reacted if neither city bites by 2027 or whenever and they actually have to go through with this.

Well that was a fun few hours.
My next question is what does it take to discontinue the use agreement?

As you say, Toronto and Montreal playing 18 games a year against each other in the AL East would be pretty fun though... and if they met in a playoff series forget about it...

To be fair, that's his number with NYCFC... They usually just give a star from another sport their jersey number (or if you just won the triple crown #3)

This is a ludicrous idea, but it's actually pretty well executed...
The Pizza Rats script is gorgeous and that SI monogram definitely needs to be on the regular caps...
Staten Island in that same script would look fantastic on a potential road jersey.

As crazy as that logo is, I want that hat...

If the following scoreboard is any indication, NBC may have gone there, but for the gradients in the score:
I actually like that... It's not bad

Nah. Keep Montreal a National League town.
Eh, the idea of the Expos and Blue Jays meeting 18 times every year is very interesting...

The only "so-bad-it's-good" jersey for me is the white fish sticks jersey.
Yeah, I'd have to agree with that. The wave hem stripe and numbers were a bit much though.

Are relocation fees a thing? This is the first I've ever heard of such a thing...
