They're definitely up there. Especially on the road. On a white, black, and gold uniform, you have a red and blue logo on the chest and a huge green logo on the helmet. Now, on the home uni, the chest ad is on par with a lot of teams out there with clashing chest ads. And the helmet ad matches in color and even has a penguin in it, but having the words "BOLD Penguin" feels corny as hell, even if it is an actual company (based in a division rival's city). Even then, I could at least attempt to tolerate it, if they didn't make both helmet ads MASSIVE.
I love this team, but everything about them off the ice has felt so stale, bland, and corporate-focus-group for years. Boring social media, lame in-game presentation, a sickening abundance of advertising and sponsorship activations everywhere you look in the arena - and this goes back years before COVID. I mean, know it's happening everywhere to some degree, but as soon as the NHL announced uni ads I knew the Pens would be one of the first to jump on and make a mess of it like they have. And yet, across town, the team owned by notorious cheapskate Bob Nutting has resisted uni ads for an entire season.
I've been holding that rant in for a long time.
All of this. Not to mention the boring bland scorebug.
FSG buying this team has been horrible, and I hate it, but like you said it goes way beyond and before them.

Popping in to briefly vent about Dubas requiring Pens goalies to wear white pads like it's still the dark (light?) era of goalie equipment in the late 20-aughts when everyone believed that one eye doctor who said it'd mess with opposing shooters. Jarry's black pads with the Pens' black uniform(s) was sick. Watching him wear white pads with their third jersey tonight just feels off.
I hate the reasoning behind it, but the white pads just look a whole lot better to my eyes.
The reasoning is awful of course.

It was the smart move honestly.
Way less backlash now if they add an ad down the line, than moving the patch to make room for the ad.

Yeah no.
I highly doubt there is or were people out there saying things like “I was born in one thousand nine hundred and seventy six.”
Theres nothing wrong with saying “twenty twenty three” and the common vernacular of calendar years shouldn’t be changed now.
There's a huge difference between the 1900s and 2000s in terms of ease.
If i'm luck enough to live into the 2100s then it'll revert. not until then.

I still think people going 20-23 sound weird. It's Two thousand twenty three, thank you very much.

That's an interesting case. Where would they put the ads on the jersey that doesn't have a traditional crest? Obviously, it would look cluttered if it's just the normal placement, but would putting it at the shoulder area work?
I'm only saying this because inevitably the Rangers will get an ad patch somewhere done the line. Really, we just don't know when.
So (tagging @ruttep as well), the penguins third already has an ad patch. It's not exactly the same as as the rangers, but it's close

Due to the puny size of their park, that's more than a 10% increase. Even their fast start doesn't account for that (and there's no way McCutchen does.)
If that stat is accurate, I'm at a loss, even with the new fan-friendly rules.
Combo of:
Better play
Fan Friendly Rules
Quick Start
Penguins Early exit
Cutch
Opening weekend was close to sellouts, if not sold out. But evened out across, that's still too much. Perhaps the new schedule also factored in, with games against the yankees or red sox(i forget which were at PNC).

I know some teams aren't done with their home schedule so numbers will be more accurate year over year in a week, but this should be a decent baseline. The top of the total attendance column doesn't change much.
For those who have completed their season.
- San Diego broke 3 million for 2023 and was just under 3 million in 2022.
- Cincinnati broke 2 million in 2023, with a big increase of 642,540 total, just over 7900 per game
- Tampa Bay had an overall total increase of 312,174, just over 3800 more per game.
- Miami was up 255,332, just over 3100 more per game.
- Pittsburgh was up 308,795, approx 3800 more per game.
- Texas was up 521,681, over 6400 more per game.
- Cubs up 158,369, over 1900 per game.
- Houston up 363,349, almost 4500 per game.
There were some drops so far
- Washington dropped by just under 2000 a game or 160,569 total.
- Dodgers down 24,329, about 300 per game.
Pirates growth is also because McCutchen is back. even with that, him alone doesnt contribute to 3800 MORE per game.

It works because it's in the perfect colour balance for the Bills. They're a blue primary team(jersey or pants are blue), followed by white(pants/jersey) and then red as a third colour(socks, the smallest part of the uniform)

Patriots should be fined every week they don't wear Grey pants. It should be the only pant they wear, period.
Eagles are badly due for an overhaul.
Bills are going to trot out in their ugly ass Blue pants tonight. Another team that should be fined for wearing anything but White pants.I like the blue pants. The blue pants are honestly not the problem.
Bills need to bring back red socks full time. Home and road. Home: Blue jersey, white pants, red socks. Away White jersey, blue pants, red socks.
Absent red socks though, fully agree. and blue pants/jersey should never happen

They're killing the PHF because the people that bought it out hate and want to kil it and pretend that it never existed.
I both want womens hockey to florish and am 100% bitter at how this second professional league came into existance.

So, I'm three years behind the ball BUT New York State updated their flag as of the 2021 Budget.
NYS added E Pluribus Unum as a second motto, which then added it to the coast of arms and by extension the flag and seal.

2023-24 NHL Jersey Changes

That's actually not true, at least not across all sports.
Soccer at the very least has some first names and some other names. Ie, Javier Hernandez wears Chicharito on his jersey.
