I would prefer the opposite approach, where minor league teams create their own identities and then tie the design to the parent club.  Like the Buffalo Bison do, where they have an unblemished legacy that can span affiliations.   Let OKC take a name that means something to OKC, paired with a uniform that reflects the great visual legacy of the Dodgers.

Not sure why I like this idea, but hate the fact that the Keys applied it to their uniforms. I think what troubles me about Frederick is the poor execution.

Frederick was chosen as the host city for the Carolina League All-Star Game this year. Previous years have featured logos in the style of the host city team’s identity, including color scheme. However, this year the logo design is in red, white, and blue. Clearly someone in the marketing and design department has some sense:

Take note of the Keys script

  2. For example, my hometown Frederick Keys who are part of the Orioles farm system, are partly just late 90s Orioles ripoffs. You’d think for a team named after the National Anthem poet, they’d be a little bit more red, white, and blue and/or musical with their identity. Don’t get me wrong, they have a great professional baseball uniform, but IMO they’re identity is a bit misconstrued.

Someone had said something about how the OKC Dodgers don’t need to be a rip-off of the LA Dodgers and I agree. They can still be named the Dodgers, but they could focus their identity on Rodeo Clowns being bull “Dodgers” or something along those lines. I’d imagine the rodeo scene in Oklahoma is relatively big?

Is that supposed to be a bad thing?  These players are desperate to get to the Show; I think they’re the ones who would most like to identify with the big club.

I never said it was a bad thing. What I’m saying is, it would do some teams a lot of good to try to differentiate themselves from the parent club. Parent club colors are fine, but at least try a little better than a copy and paste mentality.

If it was my decision not much would change from the current setup. The only way North and South divisions wouldn’t be a killer time zone wise(Denver is two time zones from half their division) is if the NL and AL were radically altered or done away with.

I don’t think MLB will do away with AL and NL. The most drastic thing I could see happening is we get an AL East & West and an NL East & West all with 8 teams in each division

Why have Pittsburgh and Philly in separate divisions? Back in the day it was one of the fiercest rivalries in baseball and if they ever were in a race for the division crown it would instantly heat up again.

So from what I’m gathering, the NL should look like this:

    North-

    Chicago Cubs

    Cincinnati Reds

    Milwaukee Brewers

    New York Mets

    East-

    Montreal MLB Team

    Pittsburgh Pirates

    Philadelphia Phillies

    Washington Nationals

    South-

    Atlanta Braves

    Colorado Rockies

    Miami Marlins

    St. Louis Cardinals

    West-

    Arizona Diamondbacks

    Los Angeles Dodgers

    San Diego Padres

    San Francisco Giants

Why are the Pirates and Montreal in the Central and the Reds in the East? As much as I hate that the Pirates are currently in the Central and Atlanta is in the East, in the scenario above the new Montreal team should definitely be in the East.

There are no Central Divisions in this scenario. To answer your question, I simply based it off the fact that even though Pittsburgh may be more east than Cincinnati, it’s still more northern. I also wanted to keep Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in separate divisions just how they are now. I definitely found the NL realignment more difficult than the AL.

  7. In the event of a two-team MLB expansion that adds Montreal (NL) and Portland (AL) to up the league to 32 teams

    American League

    North-

    Chicago White Sox

    Detroit Tigers

    Minnesota Twins

    Toronto Blue Jays

    East-

    Baltimore Orioles

    Boston Red Sox

    Cleveland Indians

    New York Yankees

    South-

    Houston Astros

    Kansas City Royals

    Tampa Bay Rays

    Texas Rangers

    West-

    Los Angeles Angels

    Oakland Athletics

    Portland MLB Team

    Seattle Mariners

    National League

    North-

    Chicago Cubs

    Milwaukee Brewers

    Montreal MLB Team

    Pittsburgh Pirates

    East-

    Cincinnati Reds

    New York Mets

    Philadelphia Phillies

    Washington Nationals

    South-

    Atlanta Braves

    Colorado Rockies

    Miami Marlins

    St. Louis Cardinals

    West-

    Arizona Diamondbacks

    Los Angeles Dodgers

    San Diego Padres

    San Fransisco Giants

  8. White vs grey baseball uniform matchups really drag down the look of the game. I’d rather have white vs color or color vs grey.

Also, as I was playing MLB the Show 19, I realized the Royals “R” BP/Spring Training hat looks so much better paired with the their home uniforms as opposed to their regular KC hat

  9. I cannot stand pinstripes on baseball uniforms. It makes them looked cluttered and it feels unnecessary. However, I don’t mind the Yankees. Which is weird considering I hate the team.

I also don’t like when a baseball uniform has a logo AND number on the front of the jersey. Just use the logo and call it a day. Again, it makes it look cluttered.
