Las Vegas seemed like the oddest city for this league to be honest. From what I understand LV is not a major volleyball market compared to other cities currently not in PVF. I guess PVF saw a legit ownership group step forward in Vegas and brought them into the fold.

It's really just strange that they're in Henderson at a 4000 seat arena built for the VGK minor league affiliate and hosts things like NBA G-League and indoor football. It's a busy arena. But Las Vegas has a ton of arenas. They're clearly aiming for the suburbs, but only the southeast suburbs. Potential fans from west (Summerlin) or northern tier along 215 aren't driving to Henderson. The hope is Henderson comes out en force. But they've got a lot of options in that arena now.

I can't even think of all the arenas along the strip now. Especially ones that can handle a volleyball setup. The notable ones at casinos are Orleans Arena (9,500), MGM Grand Garden Arena (17,000), Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay (12,500), and T-Mobile Arena (17,500). I believe UNLV's venues are off-limits thanks to the Allegiant Stadium deal. But that's four much larger venues even if they're in the 'tourist' area that locals try to avoid when possible (though not for NHL/NFL games).

Orleans has hosted many minor league teams over the years. While MGM is more for concert events, and only hosted two minor league seasons. Both in 1994. An indoor soccer team and the AFL's Las Vegas Sting. No seasonal sports team since then. While Mandalay Bay's arena has been the home of the Las Vegas Aces WNBA team and Las Vegas Desert Dogs NLL team.

I have a Galaxy Fold, so it's the same thing.

I can watch Apple TV on my Xbox; why not my stupid phone?

On android, use your brower to access Apple TV and you can watch it. Apple doesn't have an app that works for Android (or at least most android systems).

For an example of Good Brandiose, I point to the Traverse City Pit Spitters, which is a magnificent package with a truly clever secondary logo that also looks fully thought through and professionally finished without reaching to justify itself. It's no Sky Carp or RubberDucks, is what I'm saying.

I loved the Pit Spitters identity. Got to go to a few games when in Traverse City. My daughter liked the logo as well and has worn the shirt I got her since then.

Goes with the Cherry industry of the area. The michigan/mitt logo is perfection. The colors/clean look of the uniform. And it doesn't feel forced as all. "Angry Cherries" or something goofy and over-the-top.

Texas Renegades would be a great name if they were the only team in the state.   Obviously similar to Texas Rangers, but still would be an improvement over Arlington.

Texas would be better if there weren't already two other teams in the league in Texas.

But, my guess is Arlington made it contingent on their lease. If XFL/UFL/USFL/ABCDEFL wanted a team to rent their stadium and not use the Arlington name, the price would be a lot more. Arlington, with Six Flags, AT&T Stadium, and Globe Life Field all right there, want "Arlington" to be what people think about. Not Dallas. Not DFW. Not Fort Worth. Not North Texas. They want Arlington to be what people think of. And it's probably worth quite a bit.

I agree that the Renegades should switch both the logo helmet back to the renegade and the name back to "Dallas", but given the timetable for the merger, I think any uniform changes probably, and understandably, had to be put on the back burner for now. Far more pressing issues to focus on.

The Arlington thing has to be tied in with them based in Arlington. Choctaw Stadium is owned by the City of Arlington. Can't imagine them wanting the team to be named "Dallas" if they can help it. This is "New York/New Jersey" all over again.

Sounds like he got caught smoking weed without his rec card. I can’t imagine the league would still suspend a guy over that, though.

The NFL relaxed the weed rules after Gordon, but they still have them. The threshold to count is much higher and as long as you're not in the drug protocol, your chance of getting screened is negligible.

And so could MLS. Some uber rich dude could fire up a soccer league in the States. And without taking any MLS talent, only acquiring talent from other leagues around the world, could easily overtake MLS in supremacy.

You absolutely cannot say the same for NFL, MLB, NBA or NHL.

And if/when that ever were to happen, it would supplant MLS as the major league.

But it hasn't, and most likely wouldn't.

Throw in the fact that FIFA wouldn't sanction the league and most players would be leery of then joining a renegade league such as that. But for the sake of argument, it would have to happen.

Nor are Major League Soccer teams. Scroll up to my take with margarine box.

And saying MLS is "Big 5" solely because they have their own stadiums, right after I compared MLS to MiLB -- where all 200 teams have their very own stadiums?! 🥴🥴🥴

MiLB has an entire league superior to them in the same country.

AHL must be a major league, too, then right?

Just because MLS has the words "major league" in it doesn't make it a major league.

Amazon.com : I Cant Believe Its Not Butter Original Yellow Spread, 15 Ounce - 12 per case. : Grocery & Gourmet Food

19 of the U.S. MLS teams have stadiums built for them. Columbus is already on their second stadium built for them.

For a sport that can conceivably play in any rectangular outdoor stadium they've commanded that many investments into having their own venues. And those that haven't usually have some deal where their owners already own the NFL venue in their host cities.

Obviously the Chiefs will be on the Week 1 Thursday opener next season,  so who should they play? 4 scheduled opponents come to mind: Ravens, Bengals, Texans or Chargers.

Texans would be a good one. I get the appeal of the Chargers. Ravens is a no. Not that big of a game to open the season. Bengals would be a good one but with Burrow back, I can't imagine the networks want to lose that particular matchup to the kickoff game. Kickoff game is getting views no matter what. Last year was the Lions and they weren't exactly thought of being a major contender preseason. So, I wouldn't expect a huge team for the kickoff.

Thanks for the first, but the second seems to be arbitrary.  It sound like someone trying to give themselves a nickname - you earn one. I'm not sure you have the authority to set the rules for what deserves to be included in a discussion of Big # sports leagues.

If 'teams' aren't required, then Golf would be top 5. Or, at least the PGA would be.

As for whether something is a 'major league'... it would have to be the 'major league' of its sport. Having NFL _and_ NCAA Football would negate either of them being the major league. Unless NCAAF decides to stop enforcing an eligibility limit, having players move on from one league to another would entirely negate them being 'major league'.

There's only so many sports. In the US, there's four major team sports, a fifth if you're including purely participation and individual fan interest (regardless if it be MLS, Mexican, European or elsewhere leagues, or national team play)... and then sports like Lacrosse or Volleyball.  We don't really have rugby union/rugby league, handball, curling, aussie rules, gaelic, etc.

    1. NFL

    2. NBA

    3. MLB

    4. NHL

    5. MLS

    6. PVF

As someone who got into this league and am cheering for Columbus... it's annoying that their first game was January 25th and their second game isn't until February 16th.  Meanwhile Atlanta has played five games, and Omaha has played four games.
