  1. Also, I dislike all laces on hockey jerseys. They just seem so contrived, particularly on newer looks. It's not functional. It would be like if a football team came out with a helmet that mimicked the pattern of old leather helmets (don't say Michigan). I mean, there would be certain times that would look appropriate, but for the most part it would be dumb. In response to the leather pattern... Nike went away from a traditional collar to Flywire and everyone had a fit. "Classic" collars are basically already suitable for all jerseys. Should soccer teams avoid the collar of a polo look because it serves no function as well? No, it's a classic soccer look, just as lace-ups are to hockey.
  2. Another original six team who doesn't use them currently. I'm very traditional-minded about most things. But I just think they're overused these days. Haven't used them since the mid-60s....They are not being overused. 14 teams use them in their primaries. It's a commonly used collar for hockey sweaters.
  3. They also haven't had lace collars since 1974.
  4. It's a traditional collar that has been used in almost all the existence of hockey. It definitely adds to the uniform with a classic look. You don't see lace ups on modern sweaters such as Washington, LA, etc. It is pretty limited to classic templates sweaters. Lace ups out of hockey would be so wrong.
  5. Sure looks counterfeit. That collar is definitely not in the reebok options. The NHL logo is just slapped in the middle of the chest. The collar should have gold as well.
  6. I hate this idea. I hate it so very, very much. Same. By this logic, the Blackhawks logo is one of the worst in sports. No, the Blackhawks logo wasn't that hard to draw, even for an artistic challenged person like me. The ones that always gave me fits was the Buffalo Sabres...and all the wordmark logos... Hand draw the Blackhawks logo and post it on the thread then...I would love to see what an "artistic(ly) challenged person" like you could pull off.
  7. Never singled anyone out. Never took it out on anyone, explained myself thoroughly is about it. Pedant alert: you are an alumnus. So's your dad, and your mother (although she might prefer "alumna"). Your sister will also be, whenever she leaves the school. Collectively, you are all alumni. But not individually. That having been said, I understand why you have an emotional connection to the old name, but other people have every bit as much right to their opinions. You're so smart.
  8. Expand on weird? Because they have been competing against Montana for just a few years. I went to school there, live in NoDak and can tell you as of now there is not a name. The best case scenario is to go no nickname, however, I believe, that is not allowed. The only name left that makes sense, to me, is the Rough Riders. (Which I don't think is talked about) Aside from that, and no nickname, as a former Fighting Sioux athlete and season hockey ticket holder, switching to a new nickname is gonna be a real kick in the nuts. Like, they say "Welcome to Washington-Grizzly Stadium, as the Griz host the University of North Dakota..." And their tone is as if there is more to say, but they just end the sentence there. Our announcers are so used to say things like "Montana State Bobcats" or "Eastern Washington Eagles" or "University of San Diego Torreros." They just aren't used to saying a team without a nickname, and it's really weirdSo, the reason they need to get a new nickname ASAP, personally for you, is so it's not so weird for you to hear and to help out the Montana announcers, as it has to be weird for them as well? I'll be in Grand Forks tomorrow and be sure to tell the university you said this. I can only imagine they will hurry even more with this information now known to us!!!!!Don't be obnoxious (too late for that, though). He merely said he hopes they'll come up with a name soon for that reason. It's really no different than you saying "as a season ticket holder, it will be in a kick in the nuts if they change their name."You skipped over the part where I said former athlete there. I was in the athletic department from 2008 to 2012....so me saying the name change would be a kick in the nuts and his statement being pretty much the same thing and carrying the same weight in meaning is absolutely false. His ties to the school includes Montana plays them in sports. He wants them to get a name because it sounds weird. My ties to the school and reasons "it would be a kick in the nuts" are my dad is an alumni, my mother is an alumni, I'm an alumni and played on golf scholarship, and I also have a sister there now. I played in the last years of the Fighting Sioux name. I live an hour away, and frequently attend the hockey games. So ya, it might mean a little more to me then "it sounds weird." They are pretty different.

  11. I hate this idea. I hate it so very, very much. Same. By this logic, the Blackhawks logo is one of the worst in sports. Is this why Dallas is America's team? Cuz any 8 year old can draw a star?
  12. I dig that the Calgary Flames alternate captain As are the old Atlanta Flames logo.
  13. Obviously the memorial patch....as in obtrusive to the jersey....
  14. You're kidding, right?I think he's referring to the #1 and eagle-less mask.Oh! :facepalm:Well he didn't exactly specify it. He could've said "right team, wrong number, wrong mask".That'd be like having to point out Gretzky wasn't wearing 99 and didn't have his jersey tucked in. This isn't some backup skeez, this is a legend. Eddie the Eagle. It IS the right uniform though. If you don't consider the number to be part of the uniform. If it didn't say Belfour on the back, itd be very difficult to know who that is. It doesn't look like the Eddy we are accustomed to.
