Yeah, the designers hit a home run there. They knocked that park out of the park.

It's hard to believe that place is only 30 years old. It feels like an all-time classic, arguably in the same class as Wrigley and Fenway.

To me, the incredible thing about Camden Yards is how it still stands out even though pretty much every ballpark built since has copied it in one form or another.

wait I think we're ignoring a pretty big elephant in the room here

why does Milwaukee have so many Preds fans?

The Admirals have been the Preds top farm club ever since the Preds became a thing. Probably also helps that within that time, the Nashville Sounds have mostly been a Brewers affiliate.  I also think a lot of fans who are old enough to remember Bill Wirtz's stunt can't stomach the idea of rooting for the Blackhawks.

Then there's the younger hockey fans who don't remember the politics of the early 90s NHL and grew up seeing the Hawks winning Stanley Cups rather than being terrible. That's when I started to notice their sweaters popping up in Milwaukee.

Me? I was a North Stars fan, because I started watching the NHL the last year they made the Stanley Cup finals (also when I learned the Admirals weren't a NHL team... it was like finding out Santa wasn't real. But I digress). But then they moved and I wasn't gonna root for a Dallas team. So the Nordiques became my team. Then they moved. I haven't been able to choose a hockey team ever since. But who knows? Maybe living long enough in Chicago will make me a Hawks fan.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but how is Milwaukee considered Chicago's territory?

Wasn't there a rule from the original six days that teams had territorial rights to everything within 200 miles of their home arena? Milwaukee is only 90 from Chicago, and I was told that's why Bill Wirtz tried to extort extra money from the potential Milwaukee owners.

To the point about the Wild... they're on tv in Milwaukee because FS Wisconsin was spun off from FS North which is based out of Minnesota. But I can promise that of anyone in Milwaukee gives a flying f--k about the Wild, they probably came from Minnesota. The NHL fanbase in Milwaukee is currently split between the Blackhawks and Predators with a smattering of Red Wings fans from Upper Michigan/Northern Wisconsin.

But if ever there was a time for the NHL to come to Milwaukee, it was the 90s. Back when the Admirals regularly outdrew the Bucks, and it probably would have culminated in the Bucks leaving town. Now? No way would the World Champion Bucks allow some NHL team to trapse in on their turf.

    WISCONSIN BADGERS
    LOGO

    fcrricT.png

    • As a Badger fan one thing has irked me forever, the black drop shadow when there is no black on the uniforms or anywhere else
    • Eliminated the black so now the colors are just red and white

    UNIFORMS

    7OxFQdT.png

    oNx26ZA.png

    DESIGN

    • Same forward stripe motive that Under Armor has used since they outfitted Wisconsin

    HELMET

    • Updated logo on helmet
    • Pulled the trigger and finally made the white facemask the primary. I really like it and I know it's very popular with Badger fans and it just creates a clean look

    JERSEY

    • Updated logo on chest

    PANTS

    • Changed stripe to where the break is now in the middle (compared to where it is now) to match the sleeves stripes

    SOCKS

    • Changed the black socks to white and added the forward stripe

Not any big changes because I think Wisconsin has a pretty solid identity. But minor changes is not how it's going to be for a lot of teams including the next 3 teams (Tulane, West Virginia, and UTSA) which our some of my favorite re-designs. Thanks and C&C is greatly appreciated!

I think I still prefer the Varsity W, but if you're gonna keep the Motion W, this is definitely the direction to go.

    Digging your Navy concept too.

When I think of the California gold rush I think bright yellow/gold flakes and nuggets that one would see when panning for gold. I don't really think of the mining industry. Blue and orange aren't industrial-looking but they seem to work fine for the UTEP Miners.  The purple is staying but if I want to explore color options, I could try gold in place of yellow and orange although it wouldn't be as bright.

Since you mentioned it, swapping the purple for a dark blue would do wonders for this.

  6. I like the Rocky Mountain name as long as Utah doesn't have  team. Because typically the Denver/Colorado team is the de facto home team for that entire reason.

14ers is a solid identity for the reasons you named. Kind of ties them to Colorado, yet doesn't alienate the rest of the rocky states. But for some reason I really love Rocky Mountain Altitude. Sounds very basketball to me.

  7. I like NFL skill position players in single digits and in the 10s. I feel like those numbers look best on guys who are fast and lean.

That said, since few non-TE's are wearing numbers in the 80s anymore, I'd like them to be available to d-linesmen and linebackers. It was pretty common until the 1980s and big round numbers look better on those guys.

Not saying you're wrong about anything you said  - but this last point is more of an M&N supply issue, IMO...there's at least 50 new/restocked M&N throwbacks on Fanatics across the league in the last month or so.

Perhaps, but I don't remember any version of the Bucks double greens being widely available before. Last time was in 2003 when there was a gray Irish Rainbow fauxback made by Nike. Before then M&N had the christmas version of the Rainbows for Sid Moncrief.

Two different greens or black and green?

Would expect the outlines to be a bit more lime if it's two greens.

That's probably bad lighting. But it's definitely two greens according to a friend who went to the open scrimmage where this image came from.  Fanatics has also been pushing replicas of the double green Irish Rainbows lately.
