  1. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Sorry, I fell asleep composing my reply. That's some serious sartorial Sominex, there.
  2. Frankly, I didn't mind the Orioles wearing black last night, since (like on Saturday) they coupled it with the regular cap. I wonder if this was a player-driven decision? Anybody else remember the halcyon days when the black jersey had white trim, and pitcher's choice meant you saw it pretty much every time Scott Erickson pitched? Good times. I miss those days.
  3. Updating the Orioles Saturday jerseys adventure before the abomination that will surely be their CC uniform drops... The Orioles have now worn the orange jerseys twice this year. 04-01-23: Orioles in black / Boston in red (R) 04-08-23: Orioles in orange / New York in gray (H) 04-15-13: Orioles in gray / Chicago in white (R) Jackie Robinson Day 04-22-13: Orioles in white / Detroit in gray (H) 04-29-13: Orioles in orange/ Detroit in white (R) First Game 04-29-13: Orioles in black / Detroit in white (R) Second Game (makeup from Friday 04-28-23) 05-06-26: Orioles in black (with bird cap!) / Atlanta in white CC (R)
  4. Is this on both sides? Or just more of the "handedness" bullhockey? As adverts go, it's probably the least offensive so far. Could pass as a memorial patch for an obscure member of ownership. (Posted before reading other comments...was beaten to the "memorial patch" punch.)
  5. I hate that fookin' hat. And frankly, I really miss the white trim on the Orioles script and numbers on the black jerseys. That jersey peaked in 1999. https://goldinauctions.com/1999_Cal_Ripken_Jr_Baltimore_Orioles_Game_Used_Alt-LOT96150.aspx
  6. I had started wondering about it when they broke out the whites this Saturday, so I went back and looked it up. (Went to Orioles.com, selected "schedule" and clicked on each of the Saturday games. It brought up photos/video.)
  7. Still an abomination, but at least it now makes sense in terms of proportions and color scheme.
  8. I'm going to assume (based on the neck tag) that this is a retail jersey. Placket seems very narrow and fabric doesn't appear to be flex base.
  9. The Orioles have worn the orange jerseys once this year. It's a Saturday only jersey. The only real outlier on the schedule is last Saturday, when they didn't wear them at home. Otherwise, it's been a fairly standard run (I think Boston asks that the Orioles not wear orange when the Red Sox wear red, and 04-15 was JRD). 04-01-23: Orioles in black / Boston in red (R) 04-08-23: Orioles in orange / New York in gray (H) 04-15-13: Orioles in gray / Chicago in white (R) Jackie Robinson Day 04-22-13: Orioles in white / Detroit in gray (H)
  10. I've read they're quite good to have in your yard. In your ceiling? Eh, not so much. https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/what-do-about-opossums
  11. Would still vastly prefer outlined numbers to a drop shadow, but this doesn't make me want to gouge my eyes out...and for a CC jersey, that's saying something!
  12. Ooooh! All the things I luv L-U-V about current uniform design! Unnecessarily complicated numbers with drop shadows! A hard to read NOB font! Can't wait for the front! (Not.)
  13. No way they'll keep the script from the current set. And Nike never misses a chance to impose yet another custom number font on us. Look for the results to be ghastly, as usual.
  14. I agree with you on the colors (save for the matching pants). The number font? Nope? Not going there.
  15. The most self-important club in MLB feels it can bend numbers to its will. If you're surprised, you haven't been paying attention. Next!
  16. I have not seen a City Connect set yet that didn't make me want to hurl. The number fonts, in particular, have been wretched to the point of embarrassment. (Dodgers CC's excepted.) One of the (many) reasons I don't like the Twins current set is the number font. MLB block numbers are fine for many reasons. Legibility being one of the most important. I can't wait for this "custom number fonts for everybody" era to be over...but sadly, it will probably outlive me. (Or, at least, what's left of my fandom.)
  17. Can't...stand...them. For a multitude of reasons.
  18. Thus far, only the Angels have gotten the "rectangular logo should go on a rectangular patch" thing right. Shame on the Met$ (and the Red $ox) for screwing up such an easy thing.
  19. There aren't enough synonyms for "awful" to describe that...thing.
  20. Re: the Yankee$...let 'em wear triple digit numbers. Serves 'em right.
  21. The white layer was removed from the Orioles' black jerseys for the same reason the headspoon was removed: Peter Angelos found it to be "gaudy". I was around for the botched rollout of the orange/black on black in 2000. ("Wait...we needed to tell the league about this...last MAY?") If you're going to go this route, why bother with the black trim at all? It's not like anybody can see it. And, with the drop-shadow, the Giants didn't TRULY do black/orange on black.
  22. Orange/black on black screams "we don't know what we're doing" to me. At least do orange/white on the black jerseys. Or, if you don't want to do a white trim layer, be bold and do black/orange on black.
  23. 1999 was the best year for the "Orioles" script. They should never have dropped the white trim layer from the black jerseys. I'd lose the "O's" cap in a heartbeat, and add an orange cap with black bill for the orange jerseys.
  24. And flipping them from one sleeve to the other based on the "handedness" player is both craven AND stupid.
  25. The Astros uniforms aren't awful. They're just...tedious. I don't like the name font. I don't like the number font. I don't mind the cap logo. I do like orange, though.
