    A little side story.

I have a sister-in-law who is convinced aspartame is pronounced "aspart-a-mee" instead of the correct pronunciation of "ass-per-tame." So whenever I'm around her, I like to refer to the "Great Apartame, the Greek God of artificial sweeteners."

Did not know it was pronouned that way til now lol. Both pronunciations sound funny to me 🤣

  2. Probably the 1st post in this thread about the NIT.

I am watching the NIT semifinals between Wisconsin and North Texas and ESPN flashed back to when an Oregon fan held a sign that said "Cheese Curds are Overated" lol

That was how he spelled overrated and Oregon would of course lose the game to the Badgers

I'm back with my first City Connect tweak of 2023!

    BRAVES:

    Notes:
    - The Braves' newly-unveiled City Connect uniforms are fine but admittedly, a bit uninspired. As I mentioned in another thread, they're less of a tribute to the city of Atlanta and more of a tribute to the history of the Braves, which in my opinion kind of misses the point of the City Connect program.

    - For my tweak, I went with a Georgia peach color scheme, replacing royal blue and red with a peachy shade of orange and leafy green. And now that the Braves' off-white alternates have sadly been retired, this felt like a perfect opportunity to bring back that look (think peaches & cream).

    C&C appreciated!

The irony of posting Atlanta's concept on 3/28 lol

But yes this looks pretty sweet and going for a peachy look is pretty plausible if they weren't going for the 70s look

16 seeds finally winning in the tournament. Having #15 seeds run deep two years in a row. Creighton coming an eyelash away from the Final 4. It's a new era and I'm here for it. 🍿

Even better, Oral Roberts went to the Sweet 16 in 2021 so it is actually three!

Not so fast.  Like the Athletics, Oaklands USL club has stadium issues. Last year the Roots postponed a game because their turf was unplayable.

So the Roots are basically renting from Laney College, but because of the track around the field, the Roots have their own turf that they lay over the Laney College turf and track. The Roots are looking at another site to build a new stadium of their own and have narrowed it down to a parking lot at the Coliseum and a former Naval base at Alameda Point. The new stadium however is not a permanent solution and is only a modular build until they can find a more permanent home.

Sad to hear. A great sports city turned to a total wasteland with a couple of their teams moving across the bay and Vegas and the 1 team left whose painful search for a ballpark is well documented. Heartbreaking. May the A's and Roots struggles end.

  6. This Final Four brought to you by NIL and Transfer Portal. THE GAME HAS CHANGED.

First Elite 8 w/o #1 seed, and only one #2 seed making it to the Elite 8. Three teams making their first Final Four appearance for the 1st time since 1970. First Final Four without any Top 3 seeded teams.

The greatest soccer team of our times -- St Louis CITY FC -- is up 3-0 at 68' and seems to be poised to start the season 5-0-0.

    Good heavens.

Final score 4-0. Only 1998 Chicago Fire won the cup as an expansion team in their first season. Maybe STLCSC could join them
