  1. Dear god, these leaked Big Ten divisions are horrible.

This was supposed to be simple: East and West, right down the Indiana/Illinois line. But no. Instead it's this giant cluster:censored: and the conference's biggest money maker, Michigan-Ohio State, is history. How do they expect them to remain massive rivals through the years when the teams aren't even in the same division? The Big-Tween really dropped the ball on this one.

I dunno. Tennessee and Alabama, Georgia and Auburn, Miami and Florida State, North Carolina and NC State, and Maryland and Virginia seem to hate each other as much as always and they aren't in the same division. So long as the game is played annually, the rivalry should remain.

/Why are protected rivalry games such a hard concept to grasp?

Good question. The Big Tewhatever wouldn't let the game die and now there is a possibility of having it and it's money making abilities twice.

  2. The Big 10 wants 16 teams... they want to do 4, 4-team divisions. There is a simple way to solve the problem. If the Big 10 is SMART, they will have Michigan and Ohio State in separate division/leagues. To make up for the rivalry, all that OSU and Michigan has to do is schedule each other for one of the 3 or 4 at-large games. Problem solved. Still leaves the potential for Big 10 title game, OSU -vs- Michigan. Also leaves the option of 1 team spoiling the chances of the other to make the title game, etc. etc. Its not rocket science.

By at-large do you mean the 4 non-conference games or the 3 games they play against teams from the other division? The Big Whatever-they'll-call-themselves will not allow Ohio State and Michigan to schedule each other as one of those. And I assume the conference will create a scheduling method like the SEC and ACC (I'm not sure if the Big 12 does it this way) where each school has a permanent crossover partner that they play every season (ex. FSU-Miami) and rotate through through they other 5 teams in the opposite division 2 per season. Either way, crossover or no, the schools wouldn't schedule each other, the league would.

  3. My initial response to adding Utah was, "Eh." I'm a Pac 10 fan and wanted to see the likes of Texas and Oklahoma on a yearly basis. I know distance and all, was an issue, but purely on the competition side, to see those two in football alone would give credence (media-wise) to the Pac 10. The fact of the matter is the the Pac 10, no matter how good it is, will always be looked down upon because it's west of the Mississippi and the media is centered around NYC. It's not whining, it's just stating a fact. Heck, if the SEC schools all went 1-11 and the Pac 10 schools went 11-1, the media would crown the SEC the toughest conference. I realize that's actually impossible, but you get my point.

I'm not bashing Utah, which is a quality school all around, but Utah's not as sexy as Texas or Oklahoma. If it was up to me, I'd still rather see BYU replace Colorado and keep that rivalry going in a conference. I'm a BYU fan, until someone tells me I have to be because I'm a member of the Church, and then when the do that, I root for BYU to lose. Then again, I root for BYU to lose, just to piss people off! I just am not sold on Colorado, or should I say Berkley in the Mountains? We've already got one liberally nut-case for a school in Berkley, why add another? If you got Colorado from the late 80's, that to me would've been a better fit, but today they are a middle of the road school in everything.

So because Berkeley and Colorado embrace counterculture lifestyles they're just a bunch of liberal nut cases? You do realize that, despite their acceptance of other lifestyles, they're still two of the top schools in the country, right?

    lol Bigotry meet logic.

  4. No matter who the 12th School is, I believe it will come out of the Big East

    1) Nortre Dame (Long Shot)

    2) Rutgers

    3) UConn

    4) Pitt

    5) West Virginia

    6) Syracuse (Long Shot, Boeheim does not want to leave the Big East)

Now if ND(basketball only) leaves. The Big East should pick up

    1) Xavier

    2) Dayton

    3) Charlotte

    4) UMass

    5) St. Joseph's

If any of the other 5 (footballs/bastketball) leaves. The Big East should pick up

    1) Memphis

    2) UAB

    3) Marshall

I do think that if the Big 10 adds a team it will come from the Big East, most likely SU or Pitt. And Notre Dame is more than just basketball in the Big East, it is basically every sport but Football.

Also, do not count out UB from the Big East competition if they do expand. They are a great academic university, they have an expanding campus and student body, and bring a large market to the Big East, Buffalo, NY. Marshall brings a small town. However, Memphis and UAB do bring a large market, but I believe that UB and Memphis will be front runners because they are more in the Big East Territory. Don't count out Navy, Army, UCF and ECU. I believe they have a shot also, UCF could be the front runner because of their huge market and student base.

That would make the UCF-USF "rivalry" a conference game, too. USF seems like they don't want to play UCF but not a "Oh, we're scared of them thing" but rather a "We're Big East, we don't have time for the CUSA UCF." They even claimed they only scheduled the games as a part of their exit agreement with CUSA. I don't think they'd fight it, but they wouldn't die to have it.

A lot of my friends that are Louisville fans keep saying it'll likely be U of L or Cinci but honestly, I hadn't heard those rumors prior to today.
