Longest Lasting Uniforms

Rams have changed their helmet a couple times - knobby horn, white horn, gold horn, Vegas gold horn. Don't think that makes the list.

thats being a bit pedantic isn't it? you'd have to shorten the Colts' lifetime too due to blue swatch changes, face mask color changes, and stripe alterations if you want to be that detailed, and then how many uniforms even make it 10 years at that measurement?

also, when did they have a knobby horn design? or are you thinking Colorado State?

EDIT - nevermind, the Rams 1949 helmet horn was a bit different. this was the first year Riddell painted the shells and was their own take on the design

***Just want to help kill off an urban legend of sorts.

The helmet you see above was never actually used. While the notched-horn was used for 1949 only, the helmet was actually red with a yellow horn. A contributor over at GUD offered this letter...

Located in the fifth response of the thread, it is a letter from Fred Gehrke, at the time an Asst. GM with the Broncos who, while a player, was the man responsible for painting the original ram horns on the 1948 helmets. He explains how the Rams did alter their colors to red & yellow for a single year - the only season the notched horn was worn.

This was an actual helmet worn in 1949. The blue one is a myth.
