nburton27
Here is my take on an avenue that the PWHL could take when they officially brand each of their teams in the future. For the most part I tried to used the same colour schemes that each of the teams are using in their inaugural season, but there were a few minor updates made. Some standard things across all six teams are: - Name bars below the numbers for visibility purposes(been working on this concept for a few months so Molson beat me to the punch on that one) - Only one helmet for each team. PWHL is currently doing this and I figured it would be a fun design challenge to try to have each team wear a different colour helmet. - There were copyrighted names leaked this past summer, but I tried to develop different names based on research done for each respective city. Let me know what you think!
LaGrandeOrange
The image looks good but I think something is missing- the image isn't showing up, I had to copy-paste. What are the names you chose? I'm guessing Olympique for MTL and Royals for Toronto.
nburton27
Minnesota North Stars: The logo pays homage to both the Minnesota North Stars of the past as well as the current day Minnesota Wild. The current PWHL team uses black as their secondary colour, but I felt making white as the secondary colour, also was a tip of the cap to the previous women's hockey team, the Whitecaps. 4
nburton27
Boston Liberty: Although people may first think of Liberty to being a name that would work best for New York, Boston also has its own ties to the name with the Liberty Tree being one of the original sites of American defiance against the British government. Since the team name derived from the Liberty Tree, I decided to shift the silver that Boston currently uses on their jerseys to a green tone.
nburton27
Ottawa Alerts: This one was a no brainer, the Alerts were one of the top women's hockey teams of the early 1900's. Like their NHL counterpart in the Senators, the Alerts would be resurrecting a nearly one hundred year old brand and bringing it into the modern day.
nburton27
New York Americans: With the New York team clearly paying tribute to the Statue of Liberty with their colour scheme, obviously I chose Liberty for the team name... that's already taken by the WNBA team and now Boston's PWHL team? Well the Statue of Liberty is one of the most recognizable symbols for not only New York but for America as well, so I decided to resurrect another historical NHL team name with the New York Americans. This is also another time where I dropped the grey being used by the current New York team for a colour that better suits the brand. Statue of Liberty was originally copper in colour, so using copper over grey seemed like a good nod to that little tidbit.
nburton27
Montreal Olympiques: As Montreal will always be the home of the Habs, I updated the grey that Montreal currently uses to a muted navy colour. The logo and jersey design pays homage to one of Montreal's other historical NHL team, the Maroons.
nburton27
Toronto Royals: I am going to be honest and admit that I created this logo years ago for an entirely different concept, but if the shoe fits right? One of Toronto's many nicknames is the Queen City, so Royals seemed like a great name for Toronto.
vtgco
Love that Statue of Liberty Pedestal shape for the New York logo, but I'm not wild about the use of what appears to be Arial for New York's name and numbers. (You could go with Gotham; it's somewhat similar and feels more New York-y.) I like your logo for Montreal a lot (though it's kinda funny since "Torch" is the rumored name for Toronto, though it would fit better in Montreal...) I would just recommend moving the sleeve numbers to between the stripes, because right now the space between them feels empty on the away. Also funny because "Royals" feels much more like a Montreal name, and the fleur-de-lys you put on the crown are a bit confusing here, but it is a really pretty design. I would suggest making the "Royals" text on the logo black and the T below it blue to more closely depict the Toronto flag. Love the colors and logo for Boston, and the jersey font is really nice too! Ottawa's logo is also well-crafted with solid jersey designs. No changes needed : ) Not wild about the underarm design for Minnesota on the road; I think a thick purple stripe below the shoulder yoke (to make a ghosted sleeve length yoke) would help. You'd have to move the logo downward, but I think it's too high up anyways. Excellent work!
