Heavily inspired by the great @maxwasson, I'm doing a similar project as my first topic on this forum, but for the Dallas-Ft. Worth area (my hometown). However, this is comparatively more expansive, as I will cover not just major league teams and past incarnations based in the area, but also minor league teams, college teams, AND teams that considered relocating to DFW. This will include gridiron football, basketball, baseball, hockey, association football (soccer), rugby, tennis, lacrosse, and cricket teams, so get ready for a WILD project!
NOTE: It may be a while before I post a concept because I need help finding some teams I might have missed doing research. It would be much appreciated if you guys could find teams I didn't cover (I have my reasons for some of them). Here's the current list I have:

Might be wrong, but shouldn't there already be at least one design made before a thread could be posted?

You just so happen to be right, I do have one ready for the Texans (which would be going out of order), but I don't have my sketchbook with me. I'll post it when I do have it.

CORRECTION: I have this one digitally, but I have to be on a different computer to get the files for it. I'll have it posted before the end of the day.

Wow, I didn't think there would be more localized multi-sport concept threads after mine, especially when mine is still in progress. Also to sorta connect my series to yours, I did make a concept for a revived Dallas Texans of the AFL (1960-1962) and later in my series I will be doing the "Fort Worth Cattlemen" a fictional Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. @BlueMoon18

I could take a poke at this when I get to baseball, as I am including my rebrand idea already with the Legends (Frisco Revolution/Rail Boys). And again, your project was a great inspiration for mine, so big kudos to you man.

Maybe you could make a poster with each logo throughout the course of the series, like I've been doing.

Will you be considering fictional Dallas teams from other media as well?

That's a splendid idea...I'll look some up then add to the list whenever I get the Texans idea posted.

I could do that...but I may need multiple to collect ALL the teams because it is over 100 as we speak.😅

I'm also looking through this list, and I did already do a Sacramento Kings what if?, with the Kings staying in Kansas City and keeping the name "Royals" from their Rochester and Cincinnati days, I also put together a bunch of alternate Kings/Royals logos should they have moved to Anaheim, Seattle, St. Louis, Virginia Beach (Or if they had stayed in Rochester, Cincinnati, or Omaha). I didn't know if Dallas was one of the locations that the Cincinnati Royals were considering before settling on Kansas City/Omaha, I do know St. Louis was at least considered a third home in a potential timeshare with Kansas City and Omaha.

Would be nice if you could also talk about the implications of so and so team moving to Dallas

Like for example, if the Niners became the Fivers, then there wouldn't be a Cowboys, and SF would probably get a team later on

Not asking you to make concepts of the other teams, just maybe a short blurb about the effects of the move

If you read on the card you'll be cheating on your heart.

That's a great point. However, considering that the original Texans got transferred to Indy after one year, there might be a team that ends up moving out right afterward as well in the early era, as all of the relocated teams considered moving to Dallas before '60. This may be the blurb I end up doing with the Commanders/Rangers.

Maybe @BlueMoon18 could do a concept where the Dallas "Cowboys" can't become the "Dallas Cowboys" because the Kansas City Cowboys of the NFL established in 1924 beat them to the name and the Dallas NFL franchise has to give themselves a different name.

Or Lamar Hunt's Dallas Texans of the AFL win the "Battle of Dallas" and the Cowboys leave town for possibly San Antonio, Houston, Oklahoma City, or ironically Kansas City.

I do have alternate names for most of these concepts regarding the relocated teams, but I might do a separate one if I do a situation where the Cowboys can't take that name due to that. I might end up doing Rangers for that concept instead of Washington's relocation -- that was the nickname they would have gone with if the minor league team of the same name did go defunct -- in that scenario.

TEAM #1 (listed as #2) - DALLAS TEXANS (1952/60)

(I am fully aware that the Longhorns are the first team listed, but I hadn't thought of them until midway into planning this project, so the Texans will be first up.)

Officially speaking, we have our first team on the board in this project, the Dallas Texans.

The '52 Texans were Dallas's first professional football team, but didn't have remotely near any success. Moving in from New York in 1952, the original Texans played at the ever-famous Cotton Bowl to start off their tenure. They did score the first touchdown of their opener against the Giants (they're part of a different concept), but didn't score again, and lost 24-6 at home. This set the tone for their lone season in the NFL, in which they started 0-9, in which the worst loss (in terms of effect, not margin) was a 27-6 loss to the LA Rams (also part of another concept), which resulted in the owners selling the team back to the league. Their sole win of the year was a 27-23 win over the Chicago Bears, who rested their starters in a game where a literal high school game played that morning outdrew it (that's how bad the NFL in the 50s was if you need a perspective). After the season, their players were transferred to the now Indy Colts, and the franchise folded, making them the last in the NFL's history to do so.

The '60 Texans however, were different. They were founded by Lamar Hunt in 1960 after he failed to acquire the Cardinals from the Bidwills (that'll be a what-if in a different concept), and had far more success than the '52 Texans did. They finished 2nd in the AFL West behind the Chargers in 1960 and 1961, then won the division crown AND the AFL championship in 1962. Despite the success (much more than the Cowboys at the time, more on them later), Hunt didn't want to play in the same city as the NFL's Cowboys, so they moved to KC in 1963 (again, kudos to @maxwasson, there's the first link between teams in our projects!).

Overall Idea:

With the whole rebranding idea, I combined idea from both the 1952 and 1960 Texans. 1952 gives the colors, wordmark, and half the logo. The other half of the logo and most of the uniform format is based on the 1960 Texans. I went with a rope for the helmet as a reference to one particular logo I found for the '52 Texans that had the T as a rope, and I also did that for the wordmark.

C+C would be much appreciated, as this is my first digital design.
