HedleyLamarr
None, I believe. They racked up on some high draft picks before their big run.....
bulldogbarks55
Hedley is right. Prior to the merger of the NFL and AFL, only the division champions went to the playoffs. From 1950-65 only three, count 'em, three teams, represented the NFL's Eastern Division in the NFL Championship Game.CLEVELAND- 1950-55, 57, 64, 65NY GIANTS- 1956, 58, 59, 61, 62, 63PHILADELPHIA- 1960The Steel Curtain was made out of tissue paper during those years. Pittsburgh was "guaranteed win" Sunday!
NJTank
In their first 39 years the Steelers made just one playoff appearance playing in the divisional playoff tiebreaker in 1947. Back then if two teams finshed tied there was an extra playoff game for a trip to the NFL Championship, which in most seasons was the only post season game.It could be counted as a playoff game but it was not a real thing so there first true playoff appearnce came in 1972, their 40th season. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
